JAZZIT FUNDAMENTALS – JANUARY 31, 2020 UPDATE

The modules listed below are dated January 31, 2020 in your Resource Centre JZUPDATE RC update control.

Remember that Jazzit Fundamentals updates are cumulative. Updating to this release will include all revisions made to the templates.

You must have CaseWare Working papers 2019 installed if you wish to update from the Resource Centre update control in KLIB and FRMLIB. This update can also be downloaded directly from our support website (Snackbar) as an archive for CaseWare Working Papers 2018.

FEATURES

CP HOME MENU Added a percent completion bar to the Admin tab of the Home Menu that will run when modules are updated.

Restored the old update buttons to the "Admin" tab on the Home Menu.

In the 9 column statements, the column selection popup for 2 year notes and schedules has been replaced with a menu that includes options for Column Selection, Column Bold and Column Width.

The Home Menu will now provide a notification when Not-for-profit is selected in 2 column financials that will recommend the usage of 9 column financials. 9 column financials have more options to accommodate restricted fund method and deferral method presentation. The "Structure" menu in the "Client Profile" tab of the Home Menu will now show an unselectable"PSAB" option in 2 column financials that indicate that 9 column financials are required for this structure.

CP, BS2, IS2 & CF2 HOME MENU, 9 COLUMN BALANCE SHEET, 9 COLUMN INCOME STATEMENT & 9 COLUMN STATEMENT OF CASH FLOWS The budget column can now be excluded from rounding on the 9 column financials. To exclude this column, click on the

"Budget" header of the rounding table in the "Rounding" tab of the Home Menu and select "Exclude this column from rounding". The header will then turn yellow and display "N/A" in the numeric fields.

JZUPDATE RC UPDATE CONTROL Added a table filter to the RC Update Control which can cause the documents table to display only: "newest documents",

"customized documents", "available updates" or "new master files". This will display in the Freeze Frame if the RC Update Control has a Freeze Frame. If your RC Update Control does not have a Freeze Frame, you may wish to take a new copy from the KLIBUPDATE folder.

Added a "Save and Exit" button to the RC Update Control. This button is located in the Freeze Frame. If your RC Update Control does not have a Freeze Frame, you may wish to take a new copy from the KLIBUPDATE folder.

Added a percent completion bar to the update process table that will run when the KLIB is updated.

CORRECTIONS AND ENHANCEMENTS The following corrections and enhancements were made:

CB PROPERTY PLANT & EQUIPMENT WORKING PAPER 2 Property plant and equipment working paper 2 now returns the correct current year net book value to the diagnostic in

PPE working paper 1.

CF2 P9 COLUMN STATEMENT OF CASH FLOWS The 9 column statement of cash flows will now calculate current year total adjustment for bad debt expense, other

income/expense, and interest expense correctly when set to direct method and using more than 2 columns.

A supplementary calculation page will now appear when using the 9 column cash flow statement and the following conditions are present: indirect method is used, the changes in non-cash working capital line is collapsed to a summary, only two columns are used and there is no cash flow note in the statements.

CP HOME MENU Revised the method of enabling and disabling the Freeze Frame containing the Home Menu to resolve an issue where

some users with older financial statements were having the Home Menu disappear.

Page numbers will now display correctly on the financial statements index when the title page is turned off.

In the 9 column statements, the column selection popup for 2 year notes and schedules has been replaced with a menu that includes options for Column Selection, Column Bold and Column Width.

DI DEFERRED INCOME WORKING PAPER Revised the total columns so that they are no longer staggered. Improved performance of headings and pagination when

tables span more than one page. Reloading now only requires one prompt to keep input. Diagnostics now account for prior year values where applicable.

FSSCG EXTERNAL SCHEDULES 21 TO 30 The checkbox option "Line below statement headings" in Page Options of the Home Menu now updates external

schedules.

GS GST DETAILED WORKING PAPER The Manitoba RST rate will now change from 8% to 7% for year ends on or after July 1, 2019.

IS2 9 COLUMN INCOME STATEMENT WITH BUDGET Subheadings on the 9 column statement of changes in net assets (Format B) now accept manual text input consistently

with subheadings in other tables.

Spacing between Gross Profit and Expenses is now consistent on the 9 column income statement to the 2 column.

JZAL ACCRUED LIABILITIES WORKING PAPER Revised the total columns so that they are no longer staggered. Improved performance of headings and pagination when


JZDIAG DIAGNOSTICS REPORT The diagnostics report now searches for new documents by identifier rather than number.

Corrected wording and linkage on diagnostics for the deferred income working paper and the accrued liabilities working paper. The diagnostic now refers to "deferred income" and "accrued liabilities" respectively and links to the appropriate maps.

JZEL ENGAGEMENT LETTER Paragraph numbering now numerates correctly on the following paragraphs: "Use of information", "Limitation of Liability",

"Use of Auditor Experts, Specialists and Others", "Billing", "Survival of Terms", "Other Terms of Engagement" and "Conclusion".

Default wording is now available for British Columbia Societies Act disclosure on the engagement report when the client's mailing address is not in British Columbia.

K3A INDIVIDUAL SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING POLICIES Goodwill note now refers to impairment tests "whenever events or changes in circumstances indicate the carrying amount

may exceed the fair value" rather than "annually".

KD MARKETABLE SECURITIES NOTE Marketable securities note now links correctly to the working paper when the note is set to "broker" and forex is enabled.

KN GENERIC & SINGLE COLUMN NOTES The first time adoption note has been corrected for the following issues: the "Complete balance sheet" table now correctly

toggles the Current Assets heading, abbreviations now return "PSAS" when public sector standards are set in the Home Menu, the "Equity adjustment" table right-click menu now has consistent line options for insertable Level 1 numbered paragraphs and left-aligned paragraphs, the "Income statement adjustment" table's "Income before amortization and taxes" line now has the same underline options as subtotals in other tables, and minor spacing and presentation adjustments were made to "Investments in subsidiaries" and "Asset retirement obligation" to make those paragraphs consistent with others in the note.

KO GENERIC 2 COLUMN NOTES Underlines in generic notes R1, R4 and R6 are now a consistent length with other tables when comparatives are off.

ML MANAGEMENT LETTER Wording in the opening paragraph now more closely reflects the level of assurance provided. Added an engagement type

switch for compilation, review and audit. Text now refers to "Items" rather than "Findings". Removed the non-printed warning at the top of the letter that appeared when the engagement type is not audit. Users are advised that this letter is for general purpose and may not meet the requirements of any section of Canadian Audit Standards or other generally accepted assurance standards as presented and may require modification and/or additional disclosure.

PE PREPAID EXPENSES WORKING PAPER Revised the total columns so that they are no longer staggered. Improved performance of headings and pagination when


RP ENGAGEMENT REPORT Corrected an issue that caused the second page of the independent auditor's report to be missing a header when the

SC1 2 COLUMN INCOME STATEMENT SCHEDULES Corrected a menu conflict between the 2 column and 9 column income statement schedules.

SC2 GENERIC 9 COLUMN SCHEDULES WITH SUBTOTALS Added a checkbox to the "Columns" folder to disable the currency symbol in the schedule header. This affects only the

individual schedule and will only appear if currency symbols are turned on in the Home Menu.

TC INDEX TO FINANCIAL STATEMENTS The alternative notes title menu is now always available by right-clicking on the "Notes to financial statements" line of the

financial statements index, regardless of the contents of statement footer 1 in the "Page options" tab of the Home Menu.

The alternative notes title will now display "Notes to Financial Statements" by default if the words "Note(s)", "Schedule(s)" or "Footnote(s)" do not appear in statement footer 1 in the "Page options" tab of the Home Menu.

TP TITLE PAGE In the "Report options" folder of the engagement report, the "Statement Headings" field now updates the title page when

the engagement is set to Audit.

TX INCOME TAXES WORKING PAPER Working paper diagnostics now correctly account for ERDTOH and NERDTOH. Refundable portion of Part I tax in the

"Current year's income tax expense" table now pulls additions during the year for Part I relating to NERDTOH automatically from the RDTOH table.

YC YEAR-END CHECKLIST LETTER Headers now print using the correct letterhead for first and subsequent pages.
