Does anybody remember where and when Bossa Nova came to life? Was it Joao Gilberto, sitting in a street café with heavy-hearted thoughts going through his head, when a girl with never-ending legs passed him and inspired him to write the world hit “The Girl From Ipanema”? Jazzamor discovered the Bossa Nova in the mid 90’s – not in Rio, but in Frankfurt, Germany. Back then, both members were still part of a formation called >4 To The Bar<, playing music of the 60’s and touring around Europe. Both musicians were ahead of musical time, because only after the late 90’s did DJ’s start playing Bossa Nova tracks again coupling the style with new grooves. In the year 2000 the decision fell to start off as JAZZAMOR and to start working on an album in a studio. The idea was to compose own songs and not just using fragments of melodies. Their songs turned out to be a mix of old and new grooves and sound variations. Roland Grosch, sound-designer, realized that most of the time less is much more and kultivated his arrangements to the minimum. Best examples are the tracks “Summertime”, “Berimbou”, “Way Back” and “Save The Night” with an interplay of Fender Rhodes, Piano, Percussion and Vocals. J a z z a m o r „A Piece Of My Heart“

(Blue Flame 39850722)

Jazz or no Jazz? Minimalistic arrangements, 60’s Bossa-Nova guitars, electronic sounds. Piano, double bass and percussion. Simple, some times Pop style melodies framed by soundsgames … Jazz? No – Jazzamor! With this creative concept, Jazzamor was founded in 2001 by Bettina Mischke and Roland Grosch. In 2002 their debut album “Lazy Sunday Afternoon” (BF 39850682) was released. Loungy atmosphere, Bossa Nova with own feelings and melodies. Tracks flow into each other. Music for a … Lazy Sunday Afternoon. “ … This is the music, I’ve always been looking for: melodies without being monotonous, relaxing without being boring, rhythmic without being penetrating, modern without being worn out, classic (60’s style) without sounding old-fashion, … “ (Amazon Customer Review) Now in Spring 2004, their second album “A Piece Of My Heart” is being released. With this production, Jazzamor played even more with the contrast between electro-sounds and live instruments. Besides 12 self composed tracks, Jazzamor shows the development of their particular sound in the 2 cover versions from Bill Withers “Ain’t No Sunshine” and Jamiroquais “Space Cowboy”. Besides English and Portugese lyrics, they also have a track in French and German. Jazzamor shows a piece of their heart. Tracklist: 1. Tonight 4:48 // 2. Fly 3:55 // 3. Sai Das Trevas 3:41 // 4. J a z z a m o r „Travel …“

(Blue Flame 39850842)

"All I feel is cold..." ("Icy") and Jazzamor really do travel from the sunny beaches of Ipanema and the big city life of Frankfurt into the eternal ice on their third album “Travel …”. Even the 'Antarctic' is one of thirteen stations, which Bettina Mischke and Roland Grosch head for with "Travel...". Stations, which are spread all over the world, but nevertheless have fine threads spun to the origins of Jazzamor. And this is the 60's Bossa Nova, that, after the pleasant pastimes "Lazy Sunday Afternoon" (release: 2002 BF 39850682) and "A Piece OF My Heart" (release: 2004 BF 39850722), after temporal shifts, to the present, now is also undergoing a location change. And all this in the temperful, variational and entertaining Jazzamor style. And these kidnap the listener via "Travel..." into the tripping regions of the Antarctic ("Icy"), in addition, the lascivious widths of Scotland ("Before too long"), the hot watersides of Martinique ("Nuit Magique") and Australia ("Song For Maggy") and the mysterious altitudes of Tibet ("Tibet"). Bossa around the world with Jazzamor as a guide. And the German "Wann ist es Liebe” (when is it love) (destination Frankfurt/Germany) is anyway one of the most beautiful current songs to the topic. Once again it is confirmed that above all, beauty can be heard …

... and the cold days are forgotten. ***CA

(Blue Flame 39850952) There is one thing that distinguishes the typical Jazzamor sound: it is multifaceted, can’t be ascribe to any usual style and is magnificently suited to chill out to. This is also the case with their fourth album now: For "Beautiful Day" Bettina Mischke and Roland Grosch formed 12 sound pearls, each shinning in a different color. Latino Sound, Nu Bossa with Pop Jazz influences are the foremost sounds of this new production again. A Jazzamor album is always done in teamwork, both Bettina and Roland are directly involved in all development processes - from sound, to text and production. Both have their "priorities": Bettina Mischke brings soul into the lyrics, often in harmonious cooperation with Mary Applegate; Roland Grosch looks for musicians and is the sound designer: he is the master mind of the so typical minimalist and electronic sounds of Jazzamor, he frames the catchy melodies with small sound gadgets. "Beautiful Day" is not a concept album, the new songs rather reflect the personal life in a positive sense for both musicians. "We both have just let go of happenings in our lives – each of us managed farewells and started new beginnings; these songs are on personal levels," says singer Bettina Mischke. In comparison to the first 3 albums, each of which had much time for production, the twelve songs from "Beautiful Day" were recorded in just eight weeks. This approach emerged as very intense and inspirational. The reason for such short time, is that the company Ferrero (belonging to Nestlé) is

celebrating their 40 anniversary for a well known chocolate candy bar and is using “Beautiful Day” to promote this anniversary. As always, many of the musicians playing live on tour with Jazzamor, were also part of the studio team. Speaking of tours: Jazzamor travels very much, particularly in the more eastern countries such as Russia, Ukraine or Azerbaijan. In these countries, Jazzamor is a welcomed guest and the fan base is growing steadily; it is expected to happen in other countries around the world soon, too.

(Blue Flame/rough trade 317.5098.2) Release: 09.01.2009

The Selection: After six exciting years, BLUE FLAME Records decided to release a CD with the most beautiful songs from Jazzamor – a „selection – songs for a beautiful day“ … taken from the previous 4 albums. Track list: 01. Beautiful Day 3:33, 02. Fly 3:55, 03. Caminho 3:21, 04. Way Back 4:23, 05. Tonight 4:44, 06. House On A Hill 4:43, 07. Summertime 4:53, 08. A Piece Of My Heart 4:46, 09. Nuit Magique 3:48, 10. Ain’t No Sunshine 3:54, 11. Cherish 4:00, 12. Sometimes 3:55, 13. Mar De Paixao 3:36, 14. Around’n’Around 3:05, 15. Song For Maggie 3:24, 16. Childhood Dreams 4:04, 17. Song Of Silence 4:09, 18. Dreamer 6:00 But let’s start from the beginning ... The Beginning: The love for jazz from the 60s led Bettina Mischke and Roland Grosch together. With the concept to create a new sound with their own arranged cover versions, they toured with their jazz quartet halfway around the world. Always having Astrud Gilberto, Stan Getz, Sergio Mendes or film music from Henry Mancini and Ennio Morricone in their suitcase. The Curiosity: How does jazz of the 60’s sound 40 years later updated? What sounds, with current production possibilities, could be taken for a Bossa-Nova? With these questions in mind, new ideas were conceived in the studio. Amazing was the response to the first own songs for which Blue Flame Records was won as a label for the first release. On 11.05.2002 at 2:39 pm 8.41 east longitude and 50.01 north latitude Jazzamor was founded. A time that was determined through astrology and which consequences would show in the next few years. The Retreat: For a year they retreated away from the public and into the studio to develop their own sound. By 2003, fourteen new songs were playfully created, all relaxed and easy as a Sunday-afternoon: "A Lazy Sunday Afternoon." (BF 39850682 / Barcode: 4018382506825) The Start: With the worldwide release of Jazzamor’s debut album, the song "Way Back" was discovered for an advertising campaign by the company Nikon. Faster than thought, followed concert offerings, especially in Eastern Europe. Arriving in the new Jazzamor “sound world”, the second album was recorded in the following year. More songs in light electronic Latino sound. Jazzamor shows a piece of their heart: "A Piece Of My Heart." (BF 39850722 / Barcode: 4018382507228) The Travels: The desire for the new led Jazzamor on a journey, not just at concerts, but also in the studio. Every song on the next album takes place in a certain part of the world. Sometimes it’s the language, other times an instrument, a rhythm or a story, which takes the listener on a trip to a foreign country or a city: "Travel ...". (BF 39850842 // Barcode: 4018382508423) Here and Now: ”Travel …” was about the experience of being abroad, travelling – not just in a literal sense; the here and now is about farewell and new beginnings after six years of togetherness. Whether it is new production methods, new musicians or something very private, many songs on the latest release reflect this matter. Unlike the previous productions, it was very fast and compressed into just eight weeks. The attraction, to play even more with the opposites of electric sounds and live instruments, was even greater. Music for a "Beautiful Day”. (BF 39852952 // Barcode: 4018382509529) Barcode: 401838250982-6
