Jarvis Leadership Living Learning Community Program_____________________________________

Application Supplement

Residents of Jarvis Hall are involved, successful, civic-minded students who are dedicated to enhancing their personal growth and leadership development. Throughout the year, they interact with successful community members and civic leaders as well as participate in interactive workshops, leadership seminars, skill training, and service learning. Jarvis Hall strives to develop and maintain a tradition of leadership and achievement for its residents. The program is sponsored by Campus Living and supported by Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement.

Qualifications for Acceptance into the Jarvis Leadership Living Learning Community:

Completed Application (Online and Supplement)

1 Letters of Reference

Minimum high school GPA of 3.0

Commitments of the Jarvis Leadership Living Learning Community:

Must successfully complete leadership curriculum during the academic year

Completion of the leadership curriculum during the 2016-2017 Academic Year. The curriculum consists of participating in two academic courses, the organized leadership program, the building book read, ECU Leads, and in activities within the residence hall (socials, educational programs, lectures, community service activities.)

Enrollment in LDSP-1000, a 3 credit: Introduction to Leadership Studies Course.

Enrollment in a Jarvis Section of English 1100, unless you have received prerequisite to waive the course.

Maintain a semester GPA and cumulative GPA of 2.75 while maintaining an acceptable level of conduct while residing in Jarvis Leadership Hall.

Attend 5 Leadership Programs within Jarvis Hall per semester

Participate in the ECU Leads Program.

Move into Jarvis Hall on August 17th, 2016.

Attend and participate in the Welcome Activities beginning on August 18th through the evening of August 19th. If living in Jarvis Hall, you are not eligible to participate in ECU Band due to date conflict.

In addition to the online application filled out on Pirate Port website, please submit the following:

3 Essay Questions submitted in a Microsoft word or PDF Document. Each a minimum of 250 words.

1. What qualities do you possess to be a resident in the Jarvis Leadership Living Learning Community?

2. What do you hope to gain living in the Jarvis Leadership Living Learning Community?

3. ECU’s University Mission is to serve as a public service and regional transformational service institution,

through service, leadership, and community. How does ECU’s Mission shape your vision of Leadership?

One Letters of Reference from an individual that can speak to your current leadership work or your leadership potential sent from the reference directly to [email protected].

The essays should be sent to [email protected] including your Name, GPA, and Banner ID.

All Application Materials are due on May 1st, 2016 by 5pm..
