The Geisha are traditional Japanese entertainers, the word “geiko” is used to
describe such people. Although the amount of the geisha’s is decreasing, they still exist today. They were most popular in the 18th
and 19th century, and now are like an artefact.
The term Samurai means warrior, the more appropriate
term is bushi ( 武士 ) which means “lit war man”. Samurai were expected to be cultured and literate, and they must
have warrior nobility

Christmas is different in Japan than in Canada, the major religions there are Buddhism and
Shinto, so Christmas is more of a commercial event.
In Japan it is common to give presents, Often, parents give presents to their children, but,
children do not give presents to parents. It is because only “Santa Claus” gives the
presents. So, when the children don’t believe in Santa anymore, the presents are not given.
Most Japanese families would have a Christmas tree, but it is getting more popular to have Christmas lights around the house
now. In Japan Christmas is still celebrated on Dec. 25.

The Bon-Odori is a traditional Japanese dance festival. Through-out the
festival, they would dance a very simple dance.
The type of Kimono they are to wear is the Yukata
kimono. The Bon-Odori was originated when one year the farmers thanked the rice paddock god for the
great crop. The instrument they play at the festival
are the Taiko Drums.
