• All eight U.S. Navy battleships were damaged, with four being sunk. Of the eight damaged, six were raised, repaired and returned to service later in the war. The Japanese also sank or damaged three cruisers, three destroyers, an anti-aircraft training ship, and one minelayer

• Arizona: 1200 dead, exploded, sunk, left in place, with dead still entombed

• Oklahoma: 429 dead, capsized, turned on side, raised, sunk while in tow to the coast of California

• Two planes were able to get into the air, shooting down about 10 Japanese planes

• When the ships started sinking, doors were shut in hopes of stopping sinking, pressure o fwater made it difficult to reopen them, drowning the men inside
