At the Town Hall meetings in September and October, the

new “Each One Reach One” member recruiting campaign was unveiled. The new, 12-month program reflects the important role of current members in providing leads on prospective new members. Starting on November 1, members earn free dues for each recruiting lead they provide which actually produces a new member.

Missouri Athletic Club members have responded to their Club’s call for assistance. In the first month of the new program, 51 current MAC members submitted 53 leads which have so-far yielded 16 new members. Sixteen of our fellow members have each earned a free month of dues by submitting a lead which became a new member. This is a great start to an important new program, and these numbers are sure to increase as more and more members begin to participate.

So, where can you find prospective

MAC members? Where do you find these leads that can produce your free dues? The answer is that new members are everywhere and we encounter them all the time in almost every aspect of our daily activities. Is there a new colleague at work? A new family in the neighborhood? A new family at church? A new student in your child’s class at school?

People and families who would enjoy an MAC membership are all around us, and every member of the family can help us find them. Who does your spouse know who would enjoy the MAC? Who are your children’s classmates and school friends? My 13 year-old daughter told me about a new friend at school who likes to play tennis and who she wants to join her weekly tennis clinic. My older daughter’s recently-graduated college friends are prospective Associate Members. And my wife knows long before I do when there are new families in the

neighborhood or at school or at church.As the program promises, “Earning

Missouri Room along with a listening audience on KMOX Radio enjoyed the premier sports banquet in St. Louis, the Jack Buck Sports Awards.

On Jan. 7, the Club will host another prestigious sports banquet, the MAC Hermann Trophy Awards. This will mark the 25th year that the MAC presents college soccer’s version of the Heisman Trophy. The award attracted the national spotlight during ESPN’s coverage of soccer’s Final Four, when they highlighted the finalists for the MAC award. Locally, this year’s banquet will also be a big attraction. As Bernie Miklasz pointed out in his “Bernie Bits” column, DeSmet grad and Indiana University player Will Bruin is among the top three finalists for the award. Former Saint Louis U. and U.S. national team star Brian McBride will be the featured speaker.

Finally, congratulations to MAC member Stan “the Man” Musial for earning the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Next time you are dining in the Stan Musial Grille at West, raise a toast to your fellow Club member and one of the most prolific athletes in St. Louis sports history.

As the holiday season winds down and gives way to the

New Year, there is still a lot to look forward to here at the Club. December was extremely busy as MAC families enjoyed Breakfast with Santa, Family Night at West with Santa, Christmas dinners and other wonderful traditional events.

Following the festivities, many MAC members will turn their focus to New Year’s resolutions. The athletic departments at Downtown and West will see a spike in activity as people work to shed those holiday pounds. Members will flock to fitness classes and personal trainers to get in shape.

If you use the athletic facilities, you are aware that the equipment is in need of an upgrade. Remember that when you are at the Club working on your New Year’s resolutions, there is something you can do to help. I ask that you follow through on another resolution… attend the Cherry Diamond Gala Dinner and Auction on February 5. The auction will help raise the funds needed to purchase new fitness equipment for both clubhouses.

Even if you do not use athletics, there are several other good reasons to attend this great event. While fitness equipment is the focus, a portion of the proceeds will also benefit the MAC Preservation Foundation and the MAC Charitable Society for Children. Also, this will be a fun night out with your fellow members. Enjoy some cocktails and a delicious dinner. This event is ideal for inviting guests.

You will get the opportunity to bid on a variety of unique auction items.

In December, many members received an early Christmas gift… free dues. Thanks to the “Each One, Reach One” membership program, members receive free dues when providing the name of a prospective member who joins the Club. The results of the program have yielded some positive results so far, but that does not mean that a goal has been reached.

As we head into 2011, let’s keep the focus on membership recruiting. There is still a lot of time to earn free dues through this year-long initiative. The New Year is always a good time for prospective members to be approached. With the busy holiday season over and many people with a renewed commitment to workout, the MAC offers what a lot of families are looking for. Call the Club’s Membership Department with your leads and they will do the recruiting.

This has been a great time for sports fans at the Club. The Rams have been battling for a spot in the NFL playoffs for the first time in many years and MAC members have been enjoying the pre-game festivities right across the street from the Dome at their Club. Last month, Rams fans were treated to more excitement when Sam Bradford came to the MAC to receive the 2010 Sports Personality of the Year Award. A packed house in the

Dear L.T.,I arranged with Terri Lee for a Christmas party on Thursday, Dec. 7 for a group of 24 mostly retired members of

my church. We booked the Veterans Room and selected from the buffet in the Sportsman’s Club. The group could not have been more pleased, nor could I. I have received many, many compliments on the staff and the food. Please share the compliments on the food with Chef Bart.

Betty and Connie are always very gracious and accommodating, but they outdid themselves. Connie even volunteered to help set up the decorations and, before I could turn around, she had the poinsettias and ribbon set out in a beautiful display. A note from one of my guests came today complimenting me on the lovely decorations.

When our group nearly cleaned out the dessert display, Betty made it a point to come into the Veterans Room to tell us that there was a whole new array of different desserts if we would like to partake. I think some of the men made room for a second dessert! Betty was also gracious enough to provide complimentary beverages. The whole group was very pleasantly surprised.

Thomas could not have been more helpful, cheerfully and gracefully repeating the selection of hot foods to each new person. Deron could not have been more accommodating as our waiter. I know that the MAC expects superb service from our staff and Deron displayed that, and more.

I expect to be asked to host this group at the MAC again in the future. They have used Westborough Country Club for their Christmas luncheon for many years. They have a new favorite now!

Tradition is rich at the Missouri Athletic Club, and although

some events have faded in and out of popularity throughout the decades, others have not. The Good Fellowship Day Party is one of those that endures.

On Saturday, Feb. 26, the MAC will host its annual Good Fellowship Day

Party, a tradition that members have been gathering for since the 1930s. To this day, athletics are the focal point of the Good Fellowship Day Party. As tradition calls, athletes and spectators still gather for a rewarding buffet of meats, salads and hors d’oeuvres, along with cold beer after the athletic events are over.

Outside of the camaraderie, the best part of Good Fellowship Day is that it’s free! If you are a new member or have never come out for this celebration before, don’t miss out! Learn to Swim

The MAC’s popular swimming clinic is back for its 6th

year! This year’s clinic will be a learn-to-swim clinic for children ages 4-8. The six-week clinic, taught by MAC Assistant Swim Coach Lauren Fonseca and staff, is designed to teach beginning swimmers the basics in the pool.

Swimmers will learn to become comfortable in the water while working to place their heads under water and alleviate any fears they may have. The clinic will also help teach swimmers floating, kicking, arm action and breathing techniques.

Classes will be held at the Downtown Clubhouse on Sundays from 2-3 p.m. The six-week session will start on Feb. 20, and conclude on March 27. The clinic is $50.00, and space is limited. Call Rick Schneider at 314-539-4434 to reserve your spot today!

Great Lakes Swim. Clubs from around the country will be competing to see who can swim the lengths of four of the five Great Lakes. Last year the MAC placed third in the country! The swim will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 1, and will conclude on Monday, Feb. 28. The total distance of the swim is 2,004,040 yards. Only Club members may participate. With the holiday season approaching, that means plenty

of parties and lavish feasts. For many people, all of that celebrating brings with it a few extra unwanted pounds. So what follows are the New Year’s resolutions to get in shape and lose weight.

At the MAC, the athletic facilities always see a spike in attendance following Jan. 1, but some people have a difficult time sticking with their New Year’s resolutions. If that has been you in the past, try a new strategy to keep you motivated to meet your fitness goals. Maybe you need a little competition to help give you that extra incentive.

Inspired by the NBC Show the Biggest Loser, in January the MAC will be hosting its own weight loss contest. Throughout the process, weight loss experts will provide direction that has been proven to get results. The following

are the highlights of the program:• Dates of contest Jan. 17- April 15, 2011 • Deadline to sign up is Monday, Jan. 10 • Cost is $115 per person and includes beginning and ending Health Assessments, six 1-hour workshops covering nutrition, beginning and final weigh-ins, as well as bi-weekly weigh-ins to track the status of all the contestants over the 13 weeks. • Discounted rate ($5 off) for every 1-hour personal training session you take during the dates of the competition. • The winner of the contest will be the person who loses the most % of body weight, not the most pounds lost. Winter Pool Workouts

Don’t forget that the Downtown Clubhouse indoor pool is open

year round for lap swimming. The pool is kept at a comfortable 82 degrees. Just because there is snow on the ground doesn’t mean you can’t get in a great water workout. The pool is located on the 5th floor and is open Monday through Friday from 4 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The pool has five lap lanes for lap swimming on a first-come, first-serve basis. The pool is also handicapped accessible. Water Aerobics is offered Downtown on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:15-9:15 a.m. The class is great if you are looking for a no-impact workout. Breakin’ A Sweat

Shake up your normal fitness routine with a high intensity

workout class at MAC West. SWEAT is a 45-minute heart pounding, calorie burning workout consisting of intervals on your choice of cardio equipment. Weight training exercises will also be incorporated throughout the class to round out the sweat-breaking workout.

SWEAT will now be offered on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. beginning Jan. 4. The class is taught by Kerri Simon. This class is the perfect way to jump start your fitness goals after the New Year. SWEAT is also taught on Fridays at 10 a.m.

Group training sessions are also available, so grab a friend and get fit together. Group rates are: $37.50 per person for two people for a 1-hour session, $31 per person for three people for a 1-hour session and $28 per person for four people for 1-hour.

Caitlin Corry has a BA in dance performance and choreography from Lindenwood University and over 21 years of classical dance training in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, modern, pointe and contemporary.

On Friday, Jan. 7, the MAC renews one of its great annual traditions when it presents the Hermann Trophy to the top male and female collegiate soccer players in the United

States. Since 1986, the MAC has been home to college soccer’s version of the Heisman Trophy.

The finalists for the award were announced at the NCAA soccer

College Cup Final Four in December. The men’s finalists are Will Bruin, Indiana, Darlington Nagbe, Akron and Colin Rolfe, Louisville. The women’s finalists are Melissa Henderson, Notre Dame, Alex Morgan, California, and Christen Press, Stanford.

Former Saint Louis U. and U.S. national team star Brian McBride will be the featured speaker. McBride was a two-time all-American for the Billikens who went on to play in three World Cups.

on KMOX Radio tuned in to enjoy a celebration of St. Louis sports at the 41st annual MAC Jack Buck Sports Awards Banquet.

Rams rookie quarterback Sam Bradford received the “Sports Personality of the Year.” Bradford thanked the members of the MAC for voting for him and said that St. Louis was the perfect city for him to play in. Rams broadcaster Steve Savard presented the award and mentioned that the start to Bradford’s young career ranks up there with some of football’s best quarterback.

Former Mizzou and football Cardinals announcer Bill Wilkerson received the Burnes/Broeg Award. Fans were treated to audio highlights of Wilkerson’s classic call of Mizzou’s infamous “5th Down Game,” which took place 20 years ago against Colorado.

Ernie Hays, who is retiring as the Cardinals organist after 40 years, received the Jack Buck Award. Hays entertained the crowd with his favorite hits, including closing the show with the Budweiser jingle “Here Comes the King.”

Washington U. basketball coach Mark Edwards won the Carl O. Bauer Award, which recognizes a top amateur sports figure. Harry Keough, who sixty years ago helped lead the U.S. to a victory over England in what is regarded as one of the greatest upsets in sports history, received the Legends Award. Hazelwood Central football coach Rick Nixon won the High School Coach of the Year award. Chaminade running back Rob Standard, who became the all-time leading rusher in St. Louis high school history, was recognized at the banquet.

The new Tuesday Night League winner is Jim Heney and the playoff winner of the Tuesday Night League is Barry McClure. Jim is a very steady player whose game style is to run and outlast you, while Barry’s game style is one of being very crafty which keeps you off balance when your playing him.

Our Tuesday Night League, which is played at 7 p.m., has a new format. Games to 11 instead of the usual 21 that has been played for many years now. It will really test the slow starters, but I can tell you once you start playing this way you will all burn more calories and play harder until finished. I hope to implement a handicap league in the future to make it even more intense than just going to 11. Our next league format will be games to 15 and from there we will decide which is liked best.

Choosing a private school for your children can be a

difficult and confusing process. You want your child to have a positive school experience while learning skills and information necessary for their future. Sure, all the schools seem like exceptional in different ways, but how do you know where your family truly belongs?

There are several factors to consider when selecting a private school for your family. As you look into schools, keep these four factors from Private School Review in the back of your mind and check them off as you visit and learn more about the schools you are considering.

Small ClassesSmall classes are at the top of the list.

If the private school you are looking at doesn’t have small classes, what’s the point? Now, small can be interpreted in different ways. But typically a class size of 12-15 students will allow students plenty of interaction with their teacher. Small classes mean that your child won’t just be a number. It’s very difficult to hide in a small class. A small class draws students into the discussions and activities. From a teaching point of view small classes are beneficial because the teacher can see how each student is doing.

school is something you feel and experience. It’s either there or it’s not. Administrators and faculty usually make community a top priority. Why? Because it is a life lesson which they want to teach. Most private schools try to turn out students who have a sense of awareness of the world around them. MAC Boxing Championship is a HitFIGHT NIGHT

An enthusiastic crowd of boxing fans filled the Missouri Room

to watch some of St. Louis’ top amateur boxers at the sixth MAC Championship. Boxers in various weight divisions competed in ten exciting bouts.

Hungry fight fans were treated to a first-class event featuring a delicious meal, cigars and drinks. In the ring, jabs, uppercuts and roundhouse punches were flying all evening. Each winner received an attractive medal. The big winners were the MAC boxing fans, who were served another memorable night at the Club.

Living Life More Fully

Thank goodness for New Year’s Day. It

is a perfect time to step back and assess the year gone by and, perhaps more importantly, chart a course for the year to come. With that opportunity comes the reminder that another year has passed and the precious time we have to set and meet important goals is a little shorter than it was last year.

or me, the resolutions can be painfully similar from year to year: lose weight, read more, watch less television, manage time better so there is more to be spent with family and friends. The similarity of one year’s resolutions to those of earlier years does not make the process of resolving any less important, though.

If progress is sometimes slow when we make resolutions, imagine how slow the progress would be if we did not.

How does this all relate to club life? Just take a few minutes to consider all the MAC has to offer. If you have resolved to take better care of our health this year, report to the Athletic Department. If you have resolved to engage in a new hobby, check out the great Clubs Within a Club like the Military History Club or the Bridge Club. If you have resolved to carve out more time with your spouse, reserve permanent tennis time or sign up for a yoga class together. If you resolved to carve out more time with family, put all the special brunch dates for 2011 on your calendar now. I hope you will join me in that annual tradition of setting out to live life more fully this year, in whatever way you choose, and further resolving to make our great club a big part of your life. Happy 2011!

Create the MAC Signature Cocktail

Create your own unique cocktail and it could

become the signature cocktail at the MAC. The Club is hosting the Great American Cocktail contest to seek out the perfect MAC concoction. The winning drink will be so designated by a MAC member’s family name followed by 1903, thus proclaiming it a Club drink.

All drink recipes must be submitted to Katie Maurer by Feb. 28. You can email your recipe to kmaurer@mac-stl.org or mail it to Katie at the Downtown Clubhouse.

In order to participate, you must follow some rules. First, your cocktail cannot be an exact copy of an existing drink. Second, you can create a totally new drink. Third, you can use an old family recipe. Fourth, your cocktail can be an existing drink with an added ingredient or some deviation from the original. Good luck and cheers!

year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 12. The Associates are sponsoring the float this year. The parade begins at noon, but a continental breakfast will be served from 9 to 11 a.m.

Brewmaster George Reisch entertained and informed his

audience with lively stories of his youth and rise to brewmaster at Anheuser-Busch at the A-B Beer and Food Pairing. The dinner marked Reisch’s second visit to the MAC. Members and guests sampled four A-B beers paired with a delicious four-course meal prepared by MAC West Chef Mathew Unger. Everyone walked away knowing the proper way to pour a beer and which foods pair perfectly with which beers.

Charitable Society Announces 2011 Charities

The Charitable Society for Children recently selected three new charities for 2011. After hearing presentations

from 13 local charities, the CSC narrowed their list to the top three and presented it to the MAC Board of Governors for approval. The Charitable Society is proud to announce the following charities as 2011 beneficiaries: Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments, Little Bit Foundation and TASK.

Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments helps children who are blind or visually impaired reach their full potential through family-centered and specialized services and support. The Little Bit Foundation’s goal is to break down the barriers that prevent children from learning and succeeding by providing children with basic needs such as coats, shoes, clothing while working one-on-one with each child. TASK stands for Team Activities for Special Kids. The mission of TASK is to enrich and nurture the lives of children with special needs by providing opportunities for them to participate in sports, recreation and social activities.

Throughout 2011 the Charitable Society for Children will raise funds that will be split among the three charities at the end of the year. This past year, the Charitable Society for Children raised over $20,000 through donations from MAC members and employees. The three deserving charities, Friends of Kids with Cancer, Good Shepherd School for Children and Guardian Angel Settlement Association, will be presented with checks at this year’s Cherry Diamond Gala Dinner and Auction on Feb. 5. Winter Dance Lessons

If the thought of spending hours in

the gym running on the treadmill or lifting weights has you rethinking your New Year’s weight loss resolution, then think again. The MAC has a great alternative to the traditional fitness routine… ballroom dance lessons. The winter session of Ballroom Dance lessons will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 18.

Ballroom Dance lessons will have you moving about the dance floor for two hours every Tuesday evening for five weeks. You’ll be having so much fun learning and perfecting your moves that you’ll forget you’re even working out. Lessons are also a great way to meet other members at the Club and to share quality time with your significant other.

Lessons continue through Feb. 15 and will go from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Guests are invited. The cost to attend is $70 inclusive per person for Dance Club

When I first joined the MAC, I asked Julie Kueper, Membership

Coordinator, “What can I do to meet other members?” My gateway to getting more from my MAC membership was the list of Clubs Within the Clubs and activities available to members that she provided. The wine tastings, Associate members’ happy hours, dinner at the Jack Buck Grille, the occasional pick-up squash match and the Stogie Club enabled me meet other MAC members. However, there is one specific activity more than any other that has helped me connect with people at the MAC and that is Toastmasters International. Through my participation in Toastmasters, I have formed lasting friendships with four members of the Board of Governors and two Club Presidents. I have connected with people that have enriched me personally and professionally. Toastmasters has helped me develop the skills and confidence I needed to effectively express myself in any situation and open up an entire world

of possibilities. The MAC Toastmasters membership includes all professions - lawyers, accountants, sales professionals, engineers and business owners just to name a few. Toastmasters is the most efficient, enjoyable and affordable way of developing great communication skills. The meeting environment is friendly and supportive, and by participating in the meetings at your own pace, each member builds confidence with each speaking assignment. Constructive evaluations are provided to each participant. These evaluations, which are the heart of the program, identify strengths and suggest improvements.

Come visit and see for yourself how Toastmasters can help you become more confident in front of an audience of one or a hundred and one. You won’t regret it. At first you will be, as I was, applauded for my effort. Now, I’m being applauded for my skill.

When thinking about where to host your next business

luncheon, anniversary party, office gathering or a simple family birthday dinner, there is no better place than the MAC. The West Clubhouse offers members several fantastic options for hosting groups as small as 5 to as large as 100. When you choose the MAC, you know you are guaranteed to have high quality service. The Club makes sure that your event or meal is just as you like it down to the last detail. The masterminds behind the fine details are MAC West Catering Manager/Events Coordinator Sarah Asinger and MAC West Food and Beverage Manager Darrin Harnetiaux. Sarah handles all of MAC West’s catered events, while Darrin is in charge of the dining outlets and oversees food and beverage as a whole.

When working to plan your event, you want the assistance of a staff member who knows the ins and the outs of the MAC.

Sarah has worked at MAC West for four and a half years. She started out in the kitchen and has worked all the stations in the kitchen. Following her kitchen position, Sarah became the Food and Beverage supervisor attending to the dining outlets. She then moved to her current position in Catering. Sarah is responsible for setting up and executing Club and private events from the phone call to the clean up. She works with you every step of the way to make your event a success. From sending menus to making suggestions on food choices to assisting you in determining your room set up,

Sarah oversees it all. “Hosting your event at the MAC allows you to personalize and make your event unique to your group,” Sarah said. “You can guarantee you will receive personal service every step of the way.”

Sarah plans and executes hundreds of meetings and events each year, but her favorite is always the annual MAC Trunk-R-Treat. It allows her to use her creative abilities to plan activities and games that everyone enjoys.

Darrin has also overseen hundreds of dining events in his 15 years at the Club. Darrin started at the Downtown Clubhouse as the night supervisor in the

Jack Buck Grille. When MAC West opened, he took the position as Food and Beverage Manager. Darrin is in charge of all the dining outlets at West, which includes the Stan Musial Grille and Dining Room. He handles all specials and promotions. Darrin works hard to ensure that your dining experience is always a positive one. His most memorable moment at the Club was assisting with Stan Musial’s 90th birthday party. “It was awesome seeing Stan come in with his friends and play the harmonica for everyone,” Darrin said.

Next time you are planning a special event, remember the MAC. Sarah and Darrin will ensure that all of your needs are met, and that you and your guests enjoy a fantastic evening at the Club.

The West Clubhouse has one large banquet room that can be partitioned into three smaller rooms for a more intimate setting. West Catering manager Sarah Asinger helps you with all of your event needs. All food and beverage is handled in house including homemade desserts, hand carved meats and freshly baked breads. The MAC also assists you in securing any AV equipment you may require such as LCD projectors

or wireless mics. If you need any special items, Sarah will help you get in touch with vendors to find just what you are looking for to make your event memorable.

The West Clubhouse recently introduced a new Catering menu featuring wedding and rehearsal dinner packages, lunch and breakfast buffet options and more. Treat your group to a delicious dining experience.

Another fantastic option for hosting events at West is to rent the Business Dining Room. The room can be rented on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and also every weekday morning except Thursday. Artist of the Month

Michele Wells is the featured artist in the MAC Gallery in January. Born in

Vancouver, Canada, Michele attended art school there in the 1980’s but did not choose art as her career. After moving to St. Louis in 1994, she started painting watercolors, however she switched to pastels in 1999. Recently she has started combining the two mediums with great results.

Michele likes to paint landscapes and abstracts in her studio at home, however her favorite subject matter is “plein air” landscapes. She spends many weekends painting outdoors and has won many awards at plein air events in the St. Louis area.

Michele is a member of the Gateway Pastel Artists in the St. Louis area. She also has a partnership with 18 other artists in the successful Gateway Gallery in Clayton.

Club Members and the Board Spread Holiday Cheer to Employees

The Board of Governors carried on a Christmas

tradition this holiday season. Each year, the Governors don an apron and chef ’s hat and serve the employees a feast at Thanksgiving and Christmas. From hand carved meats, fresh rolls and delicious desserts, everyone was stuffed after their fantastic lunch.

The goodwill and holiday spirit continued as employees received their holiday bonuses. At both the Downtown and West Clubhouses, employees enjoyed refreshments and had their photos taken with Santa. President Chris Lawhorn was on hand to personally thank the employees and distribute the checks.

The Employee Holiday Fund began in the 1900s as a way to do away with the inconvenience of tipping. The aim was to offer employees an incentive to remain loyal to the Club.

On behalf of all employees, a special thanks is in order to President Lawhorn, the Board of Governors and the entire membership for their generous contributions this holiday season.

Melenie Broyle from Etiquette Saint Louis. If you missed the last etiquette program or if your child needs to brush up even more on their manners, sign them up for this fun and interesting course. Classes will be held Thursdays, Jan. 13 – Feb. 3. The course will wrap up with a reception for all children on Feb. 3.

With the help of her staff, they will be teaching the following topics: conversations with adults, international etiquette and club etiquette, communications and table manners. Teen Manners Class

The teenage years can be an uncomfortable and challenging

time for many kids. Help your child gain the confidence and social skills necessary by signing them up for a one-day teen etiquette class at MAC West on Saturday, Jan. 15.

Melenie Broyle of Etiquette Saint Louis will teach the class for children ages 13-15. This class focuses on meeting new friends, school manners, sportsmanship, technology manners and social gatherings. The class will end with a 2-hour mocktail party. Participants will attend a party, make introductions, enjoy appetizers and work through the uncomfortable moments when attending an age appropriate social function.

This is a great class to prepare to mixers, co-ed parties, school dances and more. Class will begin at 4:30 p.m. The mocktail reception begins at 6:30 p.m. The cost to attend is $50 per teen plus, a service charge. For reservations, call 314-539-4402.

Santa Claus Spotted at the MACThe Downtown and West Clubhouses were filled with festive decorations, holiday cheer and lots

and lots of excited children when Santa visited this year. Santa was so impressed with how good everyone had been all year that he visited the Club four times to hear MAC children’s wish lists.

While each child waited patiently to see Jolly Old St. Nick, there was plenty of delicious food, sweet treats, face painting and gingerbread houses to decorate. Santa stopped at MAC West to feast on a tasty dinner buffet. He didn’t get a chance to rest because he was up early the next morning visiting the Downtown Clubhouse for breakfast. Santa wants to thank all of the girls and boys at the MAC.

How do you get the most out of the MAC?“I use the athletic facilities two or three days a week.”2. What is your favorite MAC moment?“That’s a hard question. I used to play handball and the dinners we would have after games were always a pleasure.”3. What do you do in your free time?“I would say I’m addicted to motorcycling. We also have 16 acres in Jefferson County that I spend time on.”4. What is the best vacation you have ever been on?“There were many Western vacations with my wife that were great.”5. Why did you first join the MAC?“I joined for the athletics facilities, but I’ve gotten a lot more out of the Club.”
