PLANNING TO MARRY?

Teen Summit welcomes its Church Family to the following

holiday and year-end activities:

Wednesday, January 2nd: Skate Party at Robben’s Roost

Skating Rink from10am to 12noon. The cost is $3.00. Teen

Summit youth must bring money for lunch following skating.

Thursday, January 3rd: Xscape Movie Theatre and Main

Event. Cost is $20.00 for both (includes lunch).

Parents/guardians of non-Teen Summit youth are

responsible for transportation to Xscape at 10:30am and

from Main Event at 3:30pm. (Burnett Ave. will provide

shuttle between Xscape and Main Event)

Monday, January 21st, 9am – 4pm will be the last session of

Teen Summit’s 2018-19 school year. On Martin Luther King,

Jr. Day fifteen youth will present their business plans which

they began working on this summer in their entrepreneurial

workshops. The Church Family is invited to their “I HAVE A

DREAM SHOWCASE”. The time will be announced.

The Net’s Silver & Gold Senior Community will have regular

gatherings this year at 11:30am on the 4th Thursday of each

month. Activities will vary. To be added to the Silver & Gold

communication group, please contact Sis. Hansbrough,

(502-744-4835). The January 24th meeting will be held in the

church multipurpose room.

2019 Relationship Workshop: For Lovers Only!

FEBRUARY 6, 8, 9 & 10

Couples will participate in team-building games, dancing,

and workshops to reinforce the concept that you can

achieve much more when you work together! Registration

includes game prizes, dinner dance, workshop, lunch, and

vow renewal ceremony during the 10am worship on Sunday.

Get in on our new “Lunch and Learn” sessions offered from

noon to 1pm once a month, (usually) on the first Wednesday.

Due to our holiday break, our first Lunch and Learn will be on

Wednesday, January 9th. Come and enjoy lunch and engage

in discussion groups. Please sign up at the Welcome Center if

you plan to attend to help us know how much lunch to

prepare.

The Net’s 2019 Spring Break College Tour will visit Historically Black Colleges & Universities, as well as cultural museums and entertainment venues in Alabama, Georgia and Florida.

APRIL 1 – 6, 2019 Stops will include:

Alabama A & M University

Alabama State University

Tuskegee University

Albany State University

Bethune-Cookman University

Florida A & M University

This trip is open to students in grades 8 through 12 and cost

$320 per person, which includes motor coach transportation,

hotels, museums, daily t-shirts, and one buffet meal.

$50 deposit will be collected at the Welcome Center beginning

January 6th. Payments can be made by cash, check, or debit

card. (Debit card payments incur a $2 transaction fee). A

second payment is due by February 17th, and all balances

must be paid by March 17, 2019.

Mind, Body, &Soul

What is Net Fitness? , you ask?

It’s a great way to fellowship with church members while

incorporating a weekly fitness class! It’s Fun and It’s Free!

Why pay gym fees and workout with strangers, when you can

get free love and encouragement from church family? Free-

will donations are accepted weekly and given back to the

church. Classes are offered on Monday evenings at 6:30pm

in Burnett Avenue’s Multipurpose Room. Net Fitness offers a

variety of classes, including Line Dancing, Zumba, Yoga,

Cardio, Abs, and Nutrition!

Net Fitness is led by Donna Butler and Lavangela Webster. It’s open to anyone, male or female. Here are a few items you may want to bring (but not required):

Hand towel

2-pound Hand weights

Exercise/Yoga Mat

If you’re ready to start your 2019 year off with a motivational

group, join Net Fitness!

Burnett Avenue is starting a Cub Scout Pack for K – 5!! As a

parent, you want your son or daughter to grow up to be self-

reliant, dependable, and caring. So do we! Cub Scouting

weaves lifetime values into a kid-friendly program of exciting

activities and achievement, and you can be part of the action

as you share quality time and form lifetime memories.

The annual registration fee is $33. Additional costs are

covered through fundraising and/or pack activity fees, which

vary. Find out more at the information table in our foyer

copy, please see the trustee on duty at The Welcome Center. If

Our next Pre-Marriage Seminar begins February 21st!

Couples planning to be married in 2019 or early 2020 should

register for this Free 7-week course designed to strengthen your

bond and prepare you for your new life as husband and wife.

This seminar will meet each Thursday at 7pm February 21

through April 4 at the church and is led by Rev. Toni Overton,

who holds a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling. This seminar

or similar counseling is a requirement for all couples requesting

Pastor Shull to officiate their wedding. Couples can register for

the seminar on the church website by clicking on the Pre-

Marriage Seminar banner and completing the form.
