SOCIAL CLUBBy: Julie Seubert

The Christmas Spirit was surely evident in Forest Park. I hope everyone took the time to drive around Forest Park to look at all the decorated houses. What a colorful display of lights. Thank you, residents who took the time, to decorate their homes.

Did you notice all the Christmas decorations – both inside and outside the clubhouse? Thank you to the Craft Club ladies for decorating the inside of the clubhouse. Be sure to stop in and take a look – they did a great job and it is beautiful. And to Joyce Hines, Chairperson and all the volunteers who showed up to help and turn our Clubhouse grounds into a vision of Christmas!!

Forest Park’s Holiday Dinner was enjoyed by all who attended. The ham dinner was great. Thank You to all the workers who helped make it an enjoyable evening.

Thank you also to Jill and Ivan Taylor who stepped up to Chair the Annual Christmas Golf Cart Parade. What a colorful parade with the decorated golf carts, playing holiday music and candy being tossed to observers of the parade. It looked like all the participants were having a GREAT time.

January is an important month; because we, residents/owners, can go VOTE for new Board members on January 10th from noon to 2:00 p.m. in the Activities Building. I hope that you are thinking about running for a board seat. If you have any skills or expertise, we need people with new ideas and to give new input to make our park run smoothly and efficiently. On Wednesday, January 9th at 7:00 p.m. you will have a chance to meet the candidates who are running for a seat on the board.

We have A LOT of activities this month so be sure you read your newsletter and check the calendar for all the events and ticket sale dates. And HAPPY NEW YEAR 2019!!

THE HANGING OF THE GREENS!By Joyce Hines

Don't you just love when a plan comes together? Friday morning Nov. 30th, at 9:00 a.m. people began arriving to help decorate our clubhouse grounds. By 1:00 p.m. we were putting the empty boxes in the storage shed!

Keeping with tradition, we had a few minor lighting issues. It wouldn't be Christmas if the lights worked perfectly, would it? Our amazing helpers were: Bob Seubert, Phil Powers, Mike and Gloria Hartz, Charlene and Jim Wash, Peg Hull, Robyn Johnson, Harold Mundle, Sharon Tabor, Kathy Toth, Ellen Heighman, Delores Holmes, Gail Ford, Lou Smith, Joyce and Kenny Parsels, Pam Salk, Bernie Waltz, Madaline Preston, Laurene Armstrong, and Scott Hines! Carole Beconder is our spectacular bow maker. If I missed anyone, I take the blame...I forgot to pass around the sign-up sheet! (Yet one more senior moment...) If you see any of these folks be sure to give them a "High Five"!

Without our volunteers, our Christmas Wonderland would not happen!

Special kudos to Bob Seubert, Mike Hartz, and Kenny Pearcels for going above and beyond! THANK YOU, ALL! Your Christmas Elves wish you a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY 2019 to all of our former and present Forest Residents and Staff!

WHAT GOES UP MUST COME DOWN!!Our Forest Park volunteers did a fantastic job

decorating our park for the holidays. But the time is coming to “take down what was put up”! Volunteers are needed at the Clubhouse on Wednesday January 2nd at 9:00 a.m. to remove and store the decorations. Please…don’t leave Santa in the lurch!! Show up on January 2nd!

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK…..By Mary Kurucz

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE and what a better place to spend the BEGINNING of 2019. I once asked a gypsy lady about the future and she said “WHATEVER YOU WANT IT TO BE,,,IT’S UP TO YOU”. So, keeping that in mind, lets apply it to our lives here in Forest Park Paradise.

January is such an important month to our HOA. It

3

is legally OUR ANNUAL MEETING. We elect NEW members to the Board, install NEW Members to the Board, new board members assume their seats, ANNUAL FINANCIAL REPORT will be submitted to members as was voted on and passed last month, the Planning Committee shall present their reports and Committees and Chairperson are announced. We will welcome all new people in our park also.

As President, I get lots of questions regarding our rules and restrictions, so I thought I would remind old and new residents.

HOMEOWNERS AND GUESTSHomeowners and their guest are responsible for the

proper use and care of park facilities and equipment. Homeowners are responsible for their guest’s accountability. It is the responsibility of the landowner to make sure the renter or guest know rules of the park. All renters and guests MUST register at the FPPOA office.

RENTERSRenters must file a form with the office with their

personal information that may be very helpful in case of an emergency in contacting friends or relatives. And renters residing in Forest Park without paperwork may be asked to leave.

PROPERTY MAINTENANCEHomeowners must keep the exterior of the home clean.

Lawns mowed, weeds removed, shrubs and flowerbeds YEAR-ROUND when you are not in residency in Forest Park. Be sure to make arrangements to have it taken care of. If necessary, Forest Park, will mow your yard for you at a fee of $50.00. (It’s much cheaper to arrange your own.)

RV AREAResidents must apply for the use of one space in the

RV area. Available on a first come-first service basis, if available, for the use of motor homes, boats, trailers. Cars, trucks and vans are not allowed. Vehicles and trailers, boats etc. must have current license registration and paperwork filed in office. If a space is not occupied for a nine month consecutive period, the space may be reassigned.

PETS IN THE PARKPets are restricted to 2 pets per household in the pet

sections of Forest Park. They must be on a leash when outdoors and owners must pick up after them and must follow the quiet hours for barking. There are variances possible if the homeowner has health reasons and requires and animal for assistance. Approval for the variance requires certain paperwork to be filed with the Board for approval. Forest Park is aware of and abides by the American Disability Act regarding housing. ALL PETS ARE REQUIRED TO BE REGISTERED WITH THE PARK OFFICE WHETHER IN PET SECTION OR NOT. To register your pet, bring a picture of animal, copy of shot record, copy of Dog license. Florida animal control will not recognize any other States dog license IF you visit or live in Florida for more than 30 days.

QUIET TIME Year-round 11:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.

POOL RULES are very visibly at the pool. Pool hours are 8:00 a.m. to dusk.

RULES, RULES, RULES! WHAT ARE THEY GOOD FOR?

Rules establish a format to go by, for the safety and comfort of everyone. The rules adopted by this park were based on experience and collaboration of its residents, based on our organization documents as well as Federal and State laws.

NOTICE OF ANNUAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTIONS

The Annual election of Forest Park officers and directors will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. in the Activities Building. Be sure to bring your red card.

JUST A FRIENDLY REMINDER……When you leave the pool, please close & tie up the

pool umbrellas so they do no break. Thank You.

This is a busy time of year with many snowbirds

returning. We have over 200 users on now and will have over 275 over the Holiday. We have signed a contract to increase our bandwith 10 times for the same price. Should be installed by mid Dec. How much speed increase will depend on many factors. We will do testing to determine the increase speed for different antennas. This update doesn't mean that everyone can stream movies at the same time. As a result of the testing we will publish some guidelines for usage.

Robyn and Duke Johnson would like to thank Ken and Joyce Parsels for taking over the picking up of the aluminum cans and giving us a much-needed break. They will be picking up September- May. Thanks Ken and Joyce!

BIBLE STUDYBy Laura Esters

The Ladies’ Bible Study Group meets weekly on Thursday mornings from 10:00 A.M. to noon. Our members are women from various churches and/or denominations. We have refreshments, a time for sharing our concerns, prayer and a study, which is taught from both the Old and New Testaments by Laura Esters.

As so many new folks have moved into our park, we

believe it is important to let our residents know about this activity as well as all the other organizations that the park offers. We do not espouse any specific theology but are a group of Christian women who enjoy making friends, encouraging and supporting each other as the needs arise, and learning about the Bible.

During the months of November to April we meet at the home of Reva Doliana,849 Hollyberry Court. From May to October, Waneta Schafer opens up her house to us at 344 Shrub Lane S. Just come to the door and walk in---we’ll be glad to welcome you! If you have any questions, please call Reva at 812-322-3986, Waneta 239-219-7593 or Laura at 239-210-8010.

Our book club was started in 2005 by Joan King. We have read almost every book in the Lee County Library Book Discussion Kits. That means from now on everyone will be responsible for obtaining their own copy of the books to be discussed.

CRAFT CLUBBy Diana Power

We hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends. Craft club was also very busy in December. We decorated the inside of the clubhouse and inside activity building plus a few bows out by pool. We collected any items left over from the carport sales for our Craft sale in the spring. Then on the 5th we had Megan from ACT talk to us about what they do and answer all of our questions. On the 12th we enjoyed our Christmas luncheon at Ruby Tuesday. On the 15th we made and served our second Holiday breakfast which we hope everyone enjoyed. We delivered 375 gifts for Meals on Wheels. Craft club donated to Baskets of Cheer here in the park, gave to Veterans overseas so they can call their families over the holidays, also gave to the guide dogs for Veterans, and gave to ACT Christmas gifts and a donation.

January now starts a new year for the exciting Craft club. We have been collecting toiletries, pens and paper, toothbrushes, combs etc . This month we will fill bags

Computer Club2018 – 2019 Season

All New and Old Residents Welcome! The Computer Club is a group of friendly people

who meet every Thursday, 2 - 4 PM to help each other with computer issues. If you have a problem related to computers, or a skill you think might benefit others, YOU ARE WHO WE NEED IN OUR CLUB! Please come and join the group. A donation of $10/household per winter season would be appreciated to help with meeting expenses, new equipment etc. We take a break and have coffee and cookies around 3 PM to socialize.

Most members use Windows, but some use Linux or Macs and most software programs are compatible with each system. Each week, we usually have a person show something they are experienced in, or something interesting we have seen maybe online or in an article. If anyone is having a problem, we ask them to bring their unit to the club meeting, then we will focus on that problem. In many cases, the club can help fix the problem. If not, we can usually define the situation in cases where professional help is needed. If you have a particular need, or problem that you would like help with, please come along and join us, but try and let us know in advance so we can schedule it for that week’s meeting.

We need people who are familiar with Tablets and Cell Phones who would volunteer to do some instructing or help others during our sessions. We have cables for iPads that will allow them to be connected to our projector.

Since “Cutting the Cable” is becoming more and more popular, we need people who are familiar with internet TV to give us their experience. So please join us!

The Computer Club can no longer accept old computers, printers or other old equipment. If you have any items you wish to recycle, please check

with us before leaving them in the activities building. Hope Chest won't accept them, so they can be put out with your garbage and will be recycled through our electronic recycler. Make sure you wipe your hard drive on any computer. We can help you with this, if you are not sure of how to do it. Thanks for your co-operation on this, Sherrill

MEXICAN TRAIN DOMINOESBy Sheila Fitzgerald

We play Mexican train dominoes on Monday morning at 9:00 at the club house. Everyone is welcome to join in. It’s an easy game to learn if you have never played and we have a lot of laughs as we play. We would love to have some new members join us.

Also, I have had a request from two people recently to look into starting a second group that would play at 10:00 rather than 9:00, so they can get their morning exercise or swim in before the game. We would certainly consider this if there is enough interest.

We’re a very informal group, with no permanent commitment required. Just come by on any Monday morning and give it a try.

NORTH EAST CLUBBy Barb Wood

Happy New Year Everyone! Can you believe another year has come and gone already? All clubs and games here at Forest Park are well underway and North East Club is no exception.

We’re still wondering who had the best time at Deal or No Deal at our December meeting. We want to thank Madeline, Gloria, Carmen and their team of volunteers for a nice night out with friends.

Italian Night is coming up just around the corner on January 28th. Watch the marque for ticket sales dates or you can buy them from Carole Beconder or Mike and Kathy Fanning at their homes. Tickets are $10 each and you must have your dues paid in order to get your tickets for any meeting. They’re planning on serving up a meal of chicken parmesan with pasta, a salad and of course dessert. Remember the park is going “Green” so you need to bring your place setting which consists of a plate, silverware, napkin and a cup or glass for your drink. You also NEED your ticket because NO ticket, NO dinner! After dinner I feel certain fun will to be had by all. So get your tickets early only a certain number will be available.

Moving on to February 25th I hope you have brushed up on your gambling skills for “Vegas Night” hosted by Pam Salk, Rose Crum and Gail and Bob Rispoli.

March 25th we’re all going to the ball! The “Red Neck Country Ball” that is! Get out those dancing shoes (or come barefoot) and enjoy another fun evening hosted

by Nancy Cooper and Chris Major.

April we’ll end our season with the annual picnic hosted by the NE Club officers.

PINE TREE KNOTS QUILT CLUBBy Peg Baker

The Pine Tree Knots Quilters welcome our seasonal members back “home”. We are looking forward to a busy, fun filled 3 months as we work on projects for our own enjoyment and for the annual Quilt Show in March.

We finished our Christmas table runners and Christmas trees just in time to enjoy them for the holiday. We also completed 70 favors for the Forest Park Cheer Baskets. A BIG THANK YOU to the ladies who worked on this project at home. We’re always looking for new members, please join us Thursday 9AM, in the Club House .

Our next meeting is on January 3, 2019 and then on January 10th we will have our Welcome Back Luncheon. We will meet at 11:00 at the clubhouse. Everyone is welcome to join us.

I’D RATHER BE STITCHIN’ THAN IN THE KITCHEN!

PICKLEBALLPickleball is played every day at 9:00 a.m. in the

pavilion. No experience necessary!! Men and woman are invited to join in the fun. If you have never played before, we have a bunch of great people who are willing to teach you. We have a lot of fun!!
