Dear Parents, We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and managed to have a rest before the start of the New Year. We have lots of exciting things planned for 2017, starting with Reading Workshops on Monday 23rd January at 9.00—10.00 am for KS2 classes and 10.30—11.30am for KS1 classes. Foundation parents are welcome to attend the reading workshop on Wednesday 25th January at 9. 00—10.00am. This will be a great opportunity for you to share reading activities with your child and develop a deeper understanding into how reading is taught in school. Please note that for Key Stage 2 , parents are invited to work with the children in their English sets.

Christmas Productions

It was lovely to see so many families at each of the Christmas

Productions and Carol Services this year. I was so proud of the

children, they sang beautifully and their behaviour was excellent. It

was particularly rewarding to see our less confident pupils shine once

they were on the stage. Thank you to everyone who contributed to

the collection, we raised £614.46 which is an amazing amount of

money. The children are very excited and are planning how they

would like to spend it at the next school council meeting. We will

share their decisions once they have been made.

Year 5 and 6 Enterprise Project Raised £ 687.94 The children in Upper Key Stage 2 thoroughly enjoyed holding the enterprise project on Friday 16th December. They raised a tremendous £687.94, which will help to make them self sufficient and go towards funding their Year 5 and 6 projects.

Parentmail

Following the success of Parentmail we are launching online

bookings for parents’ evening this term. Please keep the dates free in

your diary for Thursday 2nd March, Tuesday 7th March and Thursday

9th March.

Friends of Wood Ley Update

A huge thank you to everyone who helped at the

Festive Fun Night in December. It was a big

success raising £1767.67 . Santa’s Grotto looked

amazing and was enjoyed by many, thank you to

the creative elves who put it together.

Woolly Pully

We had a special visitor from St Elizabeth’s hospice

on Thursday 15th December , Woolly Pully joined

us for Christmas lunch. We were proud to hand

over £228 raised during our Christmas jumper

day.

Wood Ley Clubs Begin Tuesday 24th January

Mrs Spinks is looking forward to meeting parents

at the next SEN drop in session which will be in

the library between 2.30 and 3.20 on Thursday

Sign to Sing and Music Concert

We will be taking part in the annual Sign to Sing

on Tuesday 7th February. We would like to use

this opportunity show case the hard work the

children have put into learning a music

instrument by holding a music concert in the

afternoon for the children.

Reading Challenge

The children are rising to the reading challenge, it is lovely to see them reading in so many unusual

places, well done to James for his entry, this has been enjoyed by all!
