Letter from Dawn (Facility Manager)
Welcome to 2014.
On the 01/02/2014 we will have been part of the Johnson Stenner Aged
Care Pty Ltd company for 12 months. During these 12 months we have
seen some significant improvements to our wonderful facility.
The construction of the African hut and outdoor area for Awoonga
residents, the construction of additional 20 car parking spaces for staff.
Hopefully the additional car parking has alleviated some of the parking
problems we have experienced over the years. Clinical Managers
offices were built on the floors to enable clinical managers to be more
accessible to staff and residents.
Our occupancy has grown from approx. 98 residents through to 119
residents. It’s wonderful to be part of a committed team that only wants
to the best for its residents and their families.
I look forward to an exciting 2014.
Kind regards,
Dawn

Lindy’s Letter (Diversional Therapist)
Hi Folks
Who what believe we have already come to the end of January 2014,
only 11 months until Christmas. I hope everyone in our community has
had a good start to the New Year.
I would like to extend a huge New Auckland Place welcome to the new
Residents and families that have joined us over the past few weeks. I
would also like to wish all those people who celebrated their birthdays
recently or in the near future a very Happy Birthday.
Special thanks to all of those people who purchased raffle tickets or craft
items in December, the great news is that our pool table & air hockey
tables have arrived and I am sure will be well used by residents and
families.
THANK YOU ALL FOR SUPPORTING OUR EFFORT TO RAISE FUNDS TO
PURCHASE THESE ITEMS.
We are very excited to announce that we will be introducing some of
your suggestions or improvements to our activity calendar this year.
Ladies Club will be every month on a Thursday morning our lovely Lisa will
be looking after this group. Ladies are welcome to bring along their own
hand crafts (knitting or crochet etc) too, while enjoying the company of
other ladies, there will also be card, board games, a lot of laughs and
some surprises as well. Men’s club will be every Thursday morning Barry
and the men are busily planning the lay out for the pool room, so the men
have a suitable area to meet each week. The pool table is being erected
at the moment and will be located in the Boyne South east sitting room.
This is where men’s club will be held each week, commencing at around
9.30am.
Our Multi-Sensory room is currently being established in our Theatre and
our frail residents have been getting thoroughly pampered by Leah &
Wendy each week. The “Tub Club” which is the multisensory, non-
ambulatory activities group will be every Monday afternoon from 1.00-
3.00.
We are also introducing our games mornings and hope to have these
twice each month, this is where we will play Bobs & Air Hockey and
generally have a lot of fun & laughter along the way. Keep your eye out
for this on our calendar.
Congratulations & THANK YOU to the nurses who won the Lifestyle Nurse of
the Month Awards in January. Lifestyle presents these awards as our way
of showing just how much we appreciate these care staff who go way
above and beyond to support residents to enjoy their lifestyle activities.
Last but not least I would like to say the biggest thank you of all to the
lifestyle team for their exceptional efforts each & every day. Looking
forward to an outstanding 2014, which is sure to be filled with plenty of fun
& laughter along the way.
Warmest regards to all
