Worshipful Master’s Message Greetings from the East, First, I would like to thank the brothers and guests who endured the cold weather to attend the installation. I would also like to thank my mom for baking the cake. Speaking of the installation, I would like to express my appreciation for all the Brothers who volunteered to be officers and committee members for the coming year. We thank you for your support and look forward to serving Arcadia during the coming year. On January 15 we are getting together again to make quillows for Hope Lodge. We have tasks for everybody (even unskilled people like me) but particularly need sewing machines and people who know how to operate them. They have an ongoing need for these because the ones that have been previously donated have been sent home with the people who stayed there during their cancer treatment. Although the Grand Lodge financial commitment to Hope Lodge has been completed, this is a way that we can continue to support this great cause. We currently have three new brothers in the degree work pipeline. This means that Thursdays in January will be busy with degree work. Please come and support the work as a participant or audience for these new brothers. If you have a high school senior in your family, please make them aware of the Grand Lodge and Arcadia Scholarships. Grand Lodge scholarship applications are due February 1. The Grand Lodge also has a new program to provide scholarships for students in a mechanical or trade course of study at an Iowa community college. Information on both these programs can be found at the Grand Lodge web site. We also need to be considering Teacher of the Year Nominations. Please think (or ask your kids) about which of the teachers at the Ames schools are worthy of the honor. The recipient will be a guest at our education dinner in April and will receive a contribution from the Lodge to use for an appropriate education purpose. Worshipful Master’s Message

Greetings from the East,

First, I would like to thank the brothers and guests who endured the cold weather to attend the installation.

Fraternally,

Marty Jacobs

Arcadia Lodge Website Update

After many years of service providing a presence on the internet for Arcadia Lodge, Brother Dan Schafer has terminated the lodge’s website at www.iowamansons.com/249.htm. This was due to a number of reports from brothers that the internet site had been compromised due to a virus. Since its inception, Brother Dan has diligently devoted his time and efforts to maintaining the site and we extend our sincere thanks for his effots.

As many of you are aware, a few years ago, the lodge purchased the web domain, www.arcadialodge.org which has been promoted in newsletters and mailings. In the interim, until a new website is developed and launched, by clikcing on www.arcadialodge.org this will be redirected to the Lodge’s website on Facebook.

On our Facebook page, you can keep up-to-date with happenings at the Lodge, see pictures of new members, view past newsletters, and access the link to the current Lodge calendar (maintained by Brother Jay Cole Simser). So, check out www.arcadialodge.org to keep up to date with our Lodge.

Newsletter Printing Thanks

Arcadia Lodge would like to thank Brother Tim Grandon of Grandon Funeral and Cremation for printing paper copies of the newsletter.

Arcadia Lodge Toy Drive Success

This year’s Toy Drive provided over $450 worth of toys for local families in need this holiday season. Thank you to each of you who donated a toy or provided cash for the toy drive during the month of December. Your efforts helped to brighten Christmas for many young children this holiday season.

After rescheduling the annual Arcadia Lodge Christmas Dinner due to the winter weather, the event was held on Sunday, December 18, 2010. Although a number of folks were unable to join us, those in attendance still had a great time with good food and fellowship.
