2 | Welcome to St. Cecilia Catholic Church - Formed, United, Enlivened
World Day for Consecrated Life will be celebrated inparishes on the weekend of
February 1-2, 2020. Please pray for all those who have made commitments in the
consecrated life and offer them a word of support and gratitude. Encourage the young
adults and youth whom you know to prayerfully consider if a vocation to the
consecrated life may be God’s call for them.
Next weekend is the parish-wide Let’s Roll service project. Here
are the Top 5 reasons to bring your donations of personal
paper products to Masses:
No. 5 – Area social service organizations report record needs.
No. 4 – Jesus himself said, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and
sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40)
No. 3 – This can be a true PARISH-WIDE service project with support from parishioners
of all ages, including children.
No. 2 – Personal paper products promote hygiene and dignity which we all deserve.
No. 1 – It’s something we can all get behind (get it?).
Let’s Roll! with this parish-wide project on January 25 / 26.
Memorial of the Unborn Week of January 19
Each year on January 22, all dioceses in the United States are called to observe a Day of
Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children. January 22 is the anniversary of
the 1973 Supreme Court decisions that legalized abortion throughout our nation.
Since then, over 60 million lives have been lost. That’s more than the size of Italy’s
population. As a human and Christian family, we grieve the loss of so many lives. And
yet, even in our grief, we know there is hope. White crosses each representing 5 million
lives, and a banner of hope and healing through Christ will be displayed at St. Cecilia’s
during the week of 1/19/2020. The U.S. Bishops have called us to observe penitential
practices of prayer, fasting and/or giving alms, to call upon God’s healing mercies. If
you or someone you know is suffering after abortion, confidential, compassionate help
is available. You can find out more at hopeafterabortion.com.
Save the Date! Chris Stefanick returns to our area on May 6, 2020
for Reboot! LIVE at Boone High
School. If you missed out when Chris
was in Ames last year or loved the
event so much you'd like to go again,
this is your chance! Tickets are
available at https://

or through Sacred Heart Church in
Boone.
Iowa Catholic Bishops Statement on Constitutional Amendment
regarding abortion.
Wednesday of this week, January 22 marks the 47th anniversary of the
U.S. Supreme Court's 1973 decision which legalized abortion in our
country. Catholics are called in a special way to observe this day as one of prayer,
penance and advocacy for the cause of the right to human life, especially for pre-born
children. Included in today's Bulletin is a statement from the bishops of the four
dioceses of our state to that end regarding a proposed constitutional amendment.
