Winter Weather: Erickson students have outdoor line-up and spend recess outside when the temperature, including WIND CHILL, is 10 degrees Fahrenheit or above. Students may play in the snow during recess if they are properly dressed in winter gear, which includes a winter jacket, snow pants, hat, gloves, and snow boots. Students that are healthy enough to attend school are healthy enough to go outside for recess. A doctor’s note is required in order for a student to stay inside for recess.

No School: There will be no school on Monday, January 20th in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.

Early Release Survey: Help Bloomingdale School District 13 know what you think. Click here to provide your thoughts on when Bloomingdale School District should schedule Early Release Days. Thanks for your input! https://forms.gle/JPthW2Hc8UHQBEFP6

Wacky Wednesday: This Wednesday is WACKY WEDNESDAY - Pajama Day!

AR Night Out: AR Night out is scheduled for Friday, January 31, 2020. Students in second grade must earn 25 AR points and students in third - fifth grade must earn 50 AR points by Friday, January 24, 2020, to be invited to AR Night Out. *First Grade students start the AR Program after Winter Break. If you have questions regarding the AR program, please contact Dr. Niemiec. Invitations will be sent home on Tuesday, January 28th. Junior Achievement: We need YOU! Junior Achievement is a nonprofit educational organization that partners communities and businesses with local schools to teach students about financial literacy, life skills, workforce readiness, introductory business, and economics. We are seeking volunteers on Erickson Elementary on January 24th from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. This is a great opportunity for you to become involved in your child's classroom not only as volunteers, but also as teachers! If you would like to volunteer, please contact Christi Helm at [email protected] by Monday 1/20. JA will provide a training for any interested parent volunteers, so no experience is necessary to teach the program.

Valentine Grams: The PTO will be selling Valentine Grams the week leading up to Valentine’s Day. Please refer to the attached flyer for more information. Valentine Grams will be delivered to students on Valentine’s Day (prior to classroom parties).

Kindergarten Registration: Kindergarten registration is right around the corner. Any student who will be five years old on or before September 1, 2020, is eligible for kindergarten during the 2020-2021 school year. Starting the week of February 10, 2020, families can enroll online. If you need assistance with online enrollment you can set up an appointment with the office during the week of February 24. More information will be coming in the next few weeks.

Students in first grade must pass a total of 12 tests and second graders must pass a total of 16 accelerated reader tests to qualify for the free ticket.

To complete the parent survey, please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/ and select Parent survey. Students in 4th & 5th grade will also participate in the 5Essential Survey in January.
