Janine & Mitchell Upson were married on the 9 April 2016 and celebrated their special day with 140 close family members and friends. Their wedding reception was held in the Historic Pagoda Ballroom. We took the time to ask them a few questions about their wedding day, how they met, what was their favourite part of the day and what words of wisdom did they have to pass onto future brides & grooms. Janine & Mitchell Upson How Did You Meet? Mitchell and I have known each other since we were kids as we went to Primary and High School together. He used to live behind me when we were growing up. His cubby-house overlooked my backyard. I spent my entire childhood jealous of that cubby! How Did Mitchell Propose? In July 2015 we went on a holiday to Europe. We finished the holiday with my family in Madeira which holds a very special place in my heart. Even more so now because Mitchell and I went on an amazing Levada walk to the 25 Fontes which is where he proposed to me. What Theme or Style Would Describe Your Wedding? Traditional / European Describe Your Wedding Ceremony... Very traditional Catholic ceremony held in the beautiful St Mary’s Cathedral in Perth. The rain cleared up as soon as the ceremony started, letting in amazing sunshine into the cathedral. The day stayed beautiful until into the reception then the storm hit with incredible rain, thunder and lightning! Describe Your Day in 3 Words... Best. Day. Ever! What Was Your Favourite Part of the Day? Getting photos on the overpass to the jetty and getting honked by the cars passing below on the freeway. The best part was when we even got a toot from the train! Words of Wisdom for Future Brides and Grooms... A lot of brides will tell you that the day goes by so fast so to really take it in. This is true! But it can really help if you tell yourself things throughout the day so you really do feel and stay in the moment. When you’re getting your hair done, take a breath and tell yourself “I’m getting my hair done now”. Do this with everything throughout the day and it will help you savour each moment. Also, relax and just have fun! This is THE big day! Things will go wrong, you need to brush it aside - smile and laugh as much as you possibly can. If at the end of the day you’re married to the one you love, nothing else matters and it will be the most perfect day no matter what.
