In the 1730s General Wade’s men were billeted here while the Aberfeldy bridge was under construction. In March 1746 the Campbell garrisons were billeted here in the aftermath of the ‘45, before fleeing to nearby Castle Menzies. (descendants in Australia) born Lurgan, Dull Lurgan is the group of buildings a few hundred yards to the left. They were not supporters of the Jacobite cause.
