  3. 3. The problem that you have, with a wall built out of glass; Is that others cannot fathom what keeps you separate from the rest. To find the silver-lining though, from within the bell jars trap; Is to find the secret treasure thats been hidden from the map. For, the darkness of despair spurred out from under lacking vision; Was shattered by the light from which Id crafted my own prism. And, so then I escaped and with graceful silence stole away; To search for Evils labyrinth wherefrom the children could be saved. thought on ON MENTAL-HEALTH LEGISLATIVE-ADVOCACY GAME Escape 1. 5. 5. Marissa Varcho Meeting Marissa Varcho Thu, Jan 23, 2014 at 7:07 PM To: "Groseclose, Emily" Cc: "Sen. Coley, OSCJC-Chair" Hi Emily, I was just wondering if Senator Coley still wanted to meet with me to talk about the pending mental-health legislation this coming Monday. If so, I would be happy to come to the statehouse so that I could speak with him in person. Also, I was wondering what the plan is for the legislation for next week. I didn't hear Senator Coley say it, but several people noted after committee that he'd said the plan was to vote the legislation out of committee next week. Is that correct? Thanks, Marissa Marissa K. Varcho marissavarcho@gmail.com http://thecultivationofbeauty.com http://janesaysrise.com
  6. 6. Marissa Varcho Kendra's Law ACT Team Language, Etc. Marissa Varcho Fri, Jan 24, 2014 at 9:14 AM To: Geoffrey Collver Cc: Mary Turocy Bcc: Marissa Varcho Geoff, Hi... Do you have the Kendra's law language regarding those ACT teams that you would specifically like to see incorporated into Ohio's law? I have to finish up this compromise, I have an idea on how I might be able to slow the legislature down if I can get this proposal finished up like, today, and approved by Betsy. If you have any materials detailing specific changes you guys wanted, I would greatly appreciate if you could forward them to me. I can't guarantee I'd include everything depending on how much there is vs. what room we have to work with under these crappy circumstances etc., but I'd like to see your recommendations if you have any materials. I realize this may already be over, but I feel like there's sufficient justification, especially with the Dispatch article coming up this Sunday, to make one more push at creating some good. Thanks and hope you have a great weekend if I don't hear back before then, Marissa Marissa K. Varcho marissavarcho@gmail.com http://thecultivationofbeauty.com http://janesaysrise.com

  8. 8. Marissa Varcho Meeting Marissa Varcho Fri, Jan 24, 2014 at 10:21 AM To: "Groseclose, Emily" Bcc: Marissa Varcho Hi Emily, Monday at 1pm is perfect. That's what I thought about committee, I was very confused by what other people were saying though. I am still working on finishing up this compromise proposal I've been talking about. I will have it ready to go and bring with on Monday for the meeting with Senator Coley. I do apologize for the delay. One last question, do you happen to know if Senator Coley or anyone in your guys' office or otherwise had a chance yet to view that video (in part or in whole). If you have any insight, I'd greatly appreciate it. I am thinking about calling the other senators' offices to see if they had, and if they had any feedback and/or questions, etc. But I thought I'd start with you, and Senator Coley. I really put a lot of time into it and I know it's long-- it's just that the issue is a very complicated one. I think it's about as concise as a comprehensive overview of this matter could possibly be from the inside. Thanks for all of your help and I'm looking forward to Monday. Will you be there too? Sincerely, Marissa K. Varcho marissavarcho@gmail.com http://thecultivationofbeauty.com http://janesaysrise.com [Quoted text hidden]

  10. 10. Marissa Varcho SB43 Interested Parties' Meeting Marissa Varcho Fri, Jan 24, 2014 at 2:22 PM To: "Groseclose, Emily" Cc: "Sen. Coley, OSCJC-Chair" Bcc: Marissa Varcho Hi Emily, I just spoke with Betsy Johnson at NAMI Ohio who called to let me know that there was no committee hearing next week. She also mentioned that an interested-parties' meeting had been scheduled in its stead, to review SB43 amendments and that sort of thing. I was wondering-- is there any way I might be permitted to attend that meeting? I think I could provide some new insight as from the mental-health consumer perspective; or worst case scenario, if I could attend just as an observer, even that gesture would be greatly appreciated. I know I don't have the public policy credentials as does everyone else, but I still have a lot to offer from the legal/consumer perspective and would very much so like to be included in the process. I do, of course, understand though, that it is what it is and there are rules and limitations and that sort of thing. I'll be alright either way. I just thought I'd ask in hopes for a case wherein perhaps an exception could be made. Thanks, Marissa Marissa K. 13. 13. Marissa Varcho Mental-Health Legislation - follow up to your 1/10/2014 voicemail Marissa Varcho Fri, Jan 24, 2014 at 2:55 PM To: whitney.daffner@mail.house.gov Bcc: Marissa Varcho Hi Whitney, First, I just wanted to thank you for the voicemail you left me a couple weeks back as it related to my inquiry regarding Representative Tiberi's position on the proposed H.R.3717 mental-health legislation (see below). In addition though, I wanted to ask you one additional question if/when you have a moment-- namely, having to do with this: I am currently working with my state and the mental-health advocacy non-profits etc. to amend our currently pending S.B.43/Sub.H.B.104 assisted outpatient treatment (AOT) mental-health legislation. From the legal/consumer standpoint, I think the most important task we have here in Ohio is the raise the overall competency of the state's mental-h
