Bite of Bread from Bob Someone left this article on my desk a couple of weeks ago and I thought it was appropriate.

God Bless, Pastor Bob Imagine that you had won the following prize:

Each morning your bank deposits $86,400 in your bank account. However, this prize has rules.

The first set of rules would be: 1) Everything that you didn’t spend during each day

would be taken away from you. 2) You may not simply transfer money into some

other account. You may only spend it. 3) Each morning upon awakening, the bank deposits

another $86,400 for that day.

The second set of rules: 1) The bank can end the game without warning. 2) It can close the account in an instant and you will

not receive a new one.

What would you do? Would you buy anything and everything you wanted? Not only for yourself, but for all the people in your life. Maybe even for people you don’t know? Would try to spend every single cent, every day?

Actually, this game is reality, but not with money! The magical bank is TIME!

Each morning we awaken and receive 84,600 seconds as a gift of life, and when the day is done, any remaining time is gone and not credited to us. What we haven’t lived up to that day is lost forever.

So, what will YOU do with your 86,400 seconds? Think about that and always think of this: Enjoy every second of your life, because time races by so much quicker than we think. Take good care of yourself and enjoy life. Live each day to the fullest, be kind to one another, and be forgiving. Harbor a positive attitude and always be the first to smile.

January 8 Pastor Matt Gordon “The Only Message You Need to Hear, version 2” Scripture Focus: Luke 11:25-29. A second look at the gospel account of the greatest commandment of “love the Lord your God with all of who you are and love your neighbor as yourself.” January 15 George Fox University Players Eight traveling ambassadors for the college will be sharing with us in a worship experience through story, drama, movement and song at all three services.

Resolution to Serve As the new year has come, perhaps you decided to become more involved at church. We have several opportunities for you to serve:

• See Allison to serve as a Greeter, Money Counter, Coffee Cart Barista, Information Center or Coffee Hour Volunteer (see page 6).

• See Chris: to help with the youth. • See Laurie: to help with the children. • See Matt: Sound/Lighting and Adult Sunday

School teachers.

There will be sign ups at the Information Center in the Narthex.
