My Bachelor‘s thesis represents Gallery of Architecture in Brno – Cerna pole. Purpose of the project is to bridge the gap between public and architects by introducing platform for architectural and urbanistic workshops. The building itself is located inside residential neighbourhood of the twenties. On lower part of building site is located nursery. In surrounding area works of art nouveau and modernist movements can be found, most notably Villa Tu-gendhat by Mies van der Rohe. The later movement strongly influenced de-sign language of my design. Main theme is the expansion of public space by opening upper part of allot-ment, draging pedestrians closer to the building and subsequent revitalization of pedestrian path between Drobného and Čenopolní street. Proposed building appear from street level to be split in two separated forms. Connected together only by lower platform with a terrace and featuring beautiful view of city and garden. The building contains a gallery with space for conferences and workshops and a small coffee room.

02 hideout home

Our studio designed one-bedroom house for single client. Defining feature of the house was its north-west curved wall, protecting occupants from prying eyes as well as creating sense of security and privacy inside. We were granted a building permission, but client then decided to take overseas job and sold plot including planing documentation.New owner liked our design and I was given a task of redesigning house to fit four family members, their two cars, several motorbikes, laundry room and fit-ness as well as separate bathroom for kids and a cloak room.I decided to extend signature stone wall, and rotate it to create elevated plat-form for kids bedrooms. Underneath it was placed fitness, laundry and tech-

The plot is in built-up area with little privacy. Pool is to stay as dominant feature of new house.

From north-west house is pro-tecting its occupants and offers them privacy while it opens to view and morning sun from other side.

For new client I had to dou-ble footprint of building by extending outer wall. This en-hanced privacy while staying true to original design intent.

To include most of new pro-gram upper and lower half floors were introduced. Result-ing shape gradually escalates.

Purpose of this study was to find out how to fill a gap between historical village struc-ture and brutalist housing estate. Our allotment was long unused and abandoned by crew building that estate some 40 years ago. To bridge two different structures we decided to introduce small urban villas on lover part of property and gradually add volume as we moved up in elevation to close gap between the two different urban structures.

Brief: Explore possibilities for a sustainable building that includes restaurant, port dispatching and terminal for ship passengers with info centre at Brno‘s reservoir [prigl]The place, as we approached it, was overwhelmed by neglect. There was brutalisstic hotel from 70‘s as well as a nauticaly shaped deport from 90‘s and lots of visual ballast including various suspicious food stands. Place itself was lacking identity.

I wanted to provide discrete building, that would leave central space un-obstructed and thus create open platform for sports and activities such as annual fireworks festival or perhaps farm market and so on. So the building is located on the north border of the site where original footpath towards port was located. We basically raised it up, so now you can walk in crowns of trees on elevated platform, leading you towards wharf. Underneath you, on the ground level, is hidden restaurant with series of inner yards and trees growing through them. The building is perforated by several dominant trees which I decided to leave in place.Building itself is divided into two parts: the horizontal which includes a restau-rant and the vertical where all port related things (terminal, public toilets, dis-patching) are located.

studio 00 september 2009- january 2010 supervision doc.Ing.Arch. Naděžda Menšíková CSc sw: indesign, photoshop

Some say that for every architect first studio or ZAN (stands for Basics of Ar-chitectural Design) is crucial in moulding of his relationship with architecture. Well, here is mine: In ZAN we were exploring two modernistic concepts of cre-ating space. They were Miese‘s Plan Libre and Raumplan by Adolf Loos. Major works deploying both those approaches are located in Brno (Villa Tugendhat) and Prague (Villa Müller). So I went to investigate them.

In both cases we were given same volume to work with - 216 m3, or 6x6x6 for raumplan and 6x12x3 for plan libre. And both pavilions are set in undefined environments. For raumplan, I decided to mark off volumes by as little as possible. For this I started to bend my material into 3m cubes and by rearranging them on dif-ferent altitudes I got resulting building. The building represents metaphor of house for one.My plan libre represents an art gallery. For this theme I started once again with 3m cubes, this time taking them out of volume to create entrance and con-nection to outside, while still remaining intimate.
