Making A Good Impression as a
Freelancer
Freelancing can be tough work if you don’t know how to interact with current and potential clients. Here are a few tips to make a great impression:
1. Create a Thoughtful Plan• Prepare a wireframe of storyboard before your
meeting
• Visuals are a great way to get conversation flowing
• Show your client that you’ve already started the longterm planning process
2. Research• Understand the
client, their business, and their competition
• Know industry standards
• Be aware of any potential issues
3. Say Yes & Be Honest• Agree to work, but make sure the client
knows what your skill set is
• Don’t be afraid to pass a project on to a more experienced colleague; it’ll strengthen your relationship with the client in the long run
4. Show Thanks• Send a handwritten
card, a small token of gratitude, or even a heartfelt email to leave a lasting impression
• You want them to think of you when the next project hits the table
