Seed & Plant Vendors of Conservation Plants for

the Mid & Southeast U.S.

May, 2006

Introduction This directory is a revision of the November, 2002 Seed & Plant Vendors of Conservation Plants, that was developed by the Jamie L. Whitten Plant Materials Center to assist conservationist in locating seed and plant vendors that supply native and non-native plant materials for our service area (see map below). The conservation plants and their varieties were selected by NRCS employees and cooperating agencies to reach land management goals that restore wildlife habitat, soil erosion, and disturbed ecosystems. This directory is not intended to provide a complete listing of vendors or plants adapted to the southeastern U.S. For more plant species native to our service area, please visit: http://www.auduboncommunities.org/regional/search/.

How to Use This Guide

Section A contains is a list of over 140 retail/wholesale companies sorted alphabetically by each state and its designated color specified in the above vendor’s map. Each company has a number that corresponds with the numbers listed in the tables in Section B (pg. 17). Along with the contact information, this list also provides a brief description of what and how the company supplies plant materials to the public. Most of these companies have on-line resources that provide detailed information about the conservation plants listed in Section B; however; if you are unable to obtain this information, please visit http://plants.usda.gov/ for growth habitat, maps, and nativity. At the end of Section A, there is a listing of regional and national websites that contains more vendor listings if you are unable to locate a particular plant or variety. If you are aware of any vendors that sell plant materials contained in this guide that are not listed, please notify the Jamie L. Whitten Plant Materials Center so they can be added to the directory.
