Front Cover In the front of the album James Morrison is in the centre of the picture which shows that he is the important and it also shows that he is the artist of this album. Him also being the centre of the cover shows us the genre of the artist focus’s on him, rather than the music.

He is wearing a white t-shirt which is causal and simple, which relates to the genre he writes about, very laid back and very basic (with the music they make, usually just a voice and guitar).

The size of the ‘James Morrison’ is fairly big, this might be because he is a well known artist or maybe just because it was to take up space on the cover. Also the font is in orange which could give the impression that the album is up-beat, colourful and full of life.

The lighting in the front cover is important as it gives a hint to what the content of the album is like, on the light its bright and clear which gives the indication that there are about a new beginning as orange symbolises new life and a new beginning. But on the right it is all dark which could mean that there is sad and dark songs on the album. Also as the album is called the awakening, the dark could represent the night and the light the day time.

Back CoverThe bright colours on the back of the CD with nothing else (not a picture of the artist) also adds to the conclusion that the album is about a new beginning, finally this adds to the conclusion by the similar use of colour used on the front of the album, now used on the back of it. Also it could relate to the meaning of the album as when you wake up in the morning its bright and it is usually orange.

On the back of the album is also has details of the label that produced it, it has the image of the label so when someone looks at the back of the album and they might look into other artists on the same label as they might do similar songs/sounds. Product placement on the album.

All the titles in the album have a similar theme to them. All about relationships, but also to do with new beginnings, the lyrics for album have come about after his dads death due to depression and drinking. He also became a father prior to the album, could explain why it is called ‘The Awakening’, due to the birth of his child and the awakening after the death of his dad

The inside panes of the CD are very similar to the rest of the album (with it being quite bare and not revealing a lot

It looks like the picture is a set of blinds and the light coming through the window, this relates to the album title ‘The Awakening’ as when you wake up all you see is orange and bright colours if it is a sunny day
