Innovation in teaching methods Collaborated with Akaysha Humniski to develop an initiative to enhance experiential learning in Political Science courses, including the development and delivery of experiential learning modules for three undergraduate courses, a survey for current students and alumnus, and the presentation of results to the Department with recommendations for future engagement (2019-20). Developed and implemented agreement between Carleton University and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Canada to host three Carleton graduate student interns per year, and for interns to receive modest remuneration and 0.5 credits through a directed reading course, supervised by Milner (2018-19). Facilitating transition of Global Politics internship option (GPOL3100) from the BA to BGInS degree streams (2017-18). Successfully negotiated a Memorandum of Understanding with CARE Canada and the Centre for Refugee Studies, York University, to enable graduate students to undertake fieldwork in CARE’s field operations for refugees and IDPs (2014). Facilitated the transition of the Global Politics program from the BA stream to become a specialization in the new Bachelors in Global and International Studies (2013-14). Developed the specialization in Migration and Diaspora Studies for the Bachelors in Global and International Studies (2013-14). Developed (with Christina Gabriel) PSCI5209, Migration and Global Politics, a graduate-level course considering the relationship between the phenomenon of human migration and debates in global politics. Course will be taught for the first time by Milner in Winter 2014, and will eventually contribute to a proposed collaborative MA in Migration and Diaspora Studies. Developed and coordinated the internship component for the BA in Global Politics (GPOL3100) through contact with 120 potential host organizations on four continents, developing course requirements and communicating with students on program development and the application process, resulting in 14 internship placements in Winter 2011. Developed an internship option for Political Science students through PSCI3906 (1.0 credits) and PSCI3907 (0.5 credit). Organized and presented an International Careers Workshop for undergraduate students to discuss the nature of careers with international organizations and job search techniques to help begin a career (Winter 2009; Fall 2009; Winter 2010; Winter 2011), as profiled in Success Bytes, #2, Faculty of Public Affairs, 27 January 2011.
