Dear Members: Jai Jinendra. On behalf of the EC and BOT, we want to wish you all a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year. We celebrated Diwali on November 10th with a Snatra Puja, followed by a general body meeting and a delicious dinner coordinated by the Rachna Parakh and Bharti Shah. We had a full agenda for the general body meeting including:

• Recap of the major programs during the year. • Status of on-going major society activities including study classes,

religious programs, swadhyay etc. • Details of the budgets, expenditures and collections. We have published

the financial report as presented during the program in this jain vani for your review.

• New EC and BOT initiatives. • JOY update and YJA upcoming activities. • Announcement of the new BOT - although our chairman and vice

chairman are retiring, in reality, they are changing their hat. • Announcement of a minor change in EC – Nimesh Shah is replacing

Hemang Shah as the new Publications officer. We recognized following families for their volunteer services to the society over past many years: Shri Girish & Smt. Asha Shah Shri Pravin & Smt. Jyoti Shah Shri Mayur & Smt. Rita Lodaya New member directories were published and distributed during the Diwali function. JSGD has received donation of $1,000 from Mr. Rasikbhai and Mrs. Hemaben Parekh for the wedding of their son Adarsh with Shamita (Daughter of Shashi and Shital Shah).

Car Donation

JSGD thanks Manoj and Minaxi Shah for their car donation to Charity Motors. Proceed from the sale of their vehicle donation to Charity Motors will be directed to JSGD. They will receive tax deduction while helping the temple. For more information, please contact any EC member.

BOT Corner

Fund Raising Dinner- March 22nd 2008 Please mark your calendar and support this event with your friends, family and business associates. It will be held at the elegant Burton Manor. The Fund Raising Dinner (FRD) will provide a unique experience for all the participants. The theme of the FRD will captivate your imagination throughout the program. More information will be coming shortly from the FRD committee headed by Arvind Shah of Jaya Travels.

Study Class Partition Project BOT is in the process of reviewing quotes from vendors for the lower level partitions. A decision will be made on the selection of the vendor very shortly. BOT has approved the vendor for the stage curtain and projection screen. The completion of the installation is estimated to be end of January, 2008. The curtain will have a lining, valence and will be motorized. A 10’x10’ projection screen will also be installed as part of the contract.

Swami Vatsalya and Other Food Expense Account

Based upon the members and scholars comments about DEV DRAVYA donation spending, it was decided that there would be a separate account for Swami Vatsalya and other food expenses. In other words, we hope to not to use Dev Draviya (Aarti, Mangle Divo, Puja, Shanti kalash, Dhvaja ceremony etc.) funds for food expenses. We probably will follow the guidelines being used back in India to segregate the dollar amount for food expenses.

December 2nd Class – Due to severe weather condition, December 2nd class was cancelled. Thanks to all the volunteers and teachers to make phone calls to spread the word. 2008 Study Clas Schedule – 2008 schedule is finalized and was distributed to all the teachers, students, and volunteers. Most of the classes are on 2nd and 4th Sunday but few are either on 1st, 3rd, or 5th Sunday. Please refer to the schedule which is listed below as well as posted on the bulletin board. Search for Teachers – Study Class is in need of few enthusiastic and committed teachers. If you think, you are one of them; please contact Mahendra J. Shah or Vinay C. Shah.
