Landry, who is in his third straight season with the Generals, tied the contest at 1-1 in the seventh inning with his first hit and brought in the final runs with a two-run knock in the eighth. Don’t Walk Out On Me: Jackson’s pitchers have been exceptionally good at throwing strikes in the team’s first ten games. The Generals have issued just 23 walks, the fewest of any team in the Southern League, in 85 innings. In Jackson’s 6-4 loss against the Mississippi Braves on April 15 (suspended, completed on April 16), Stephen Landazuri, Scott DeCecco and Jordan Shipers combined to strike out 11 without walking a batter. Rain, Rain Go Away: Rain has been a constant feature early in Jackson’s 2015 season. The Generals have already had one game called due to rain (April 13 at Jacksonville), another contest suspended (April 16 versus Mississippi) and one tilt postponed (April 19 versus Mississippi). Jackson has even experienced three rain delays, lasting a combined total of 2:49. Sunday’s scheduled contest against the Mississippi Braves will be made up as part of a doubleheader on June 2 at Trustman Park. Our Hands (And Game) Are Tied: Jackson’s first “tie game” in franchise history came in its series finale at Jacksonville on Monday. The Generals and Suns were left with a 0-0, seven-inning draw due to rain. This also marked the Southern League’s first tie since May 15, 2009 (Carolina at Birmingham, 3-3 in 11 innings). Back in Jackson: Jackson’s 25-man active Opening Day roster features 17 players who played for the Generals in 2014. D.J. Peterson and Dan Paolini, who tied for the team lead last season with 13 home runs, are both back with the Generals. Dario Pizzano, who ranked third on the club with 55 RBIs last season returns to West Tennessee as well. Moises Hernandez and Kyle Hunter, who both made more than 30 relief appearances for the team in 2014, make up part of the 2015 bullpen. Additionally, Manager Jim Horner and Pitching Coach Lance Painter are back in the Generals’ dugout. Offensive Firepower: The 2015 Generals figure to feature a powerful offense, as all five of the top- 30 Seattle prospects according to Baseball America on the squad are hitters: D.J. Peterson (2), Gabriel Guerrero (7), Jordy Lara (15), Jack Reinheimer (17) and Julio Morban (25). Eight players hit 10 or more home runs last year, including four that surpassed 15: Gabriel Guerrero (18), Jordy Lara (26), Jabari Henry (30) and D.J. Peterson (31). Guerrero and Lara were two of just seven minor league players to hit .300 with 90 runs scored, 45 extra-base hits and 90 runs batted in, while Peterson was one of five to hit 30 home runs while driving in more than 100.
