JACK VETTRIANO AND JOHN THOMPSON PAINTINGS Painters and artists live not just their times, but also the future. Like many of the other well acclaimed artists and painters, it is also true in the case of Jack Vettriano and John Thompson. Tom Thomson was in fact born in the beautiful city of Claremont, Ontario to John and Margaret Thomson. However, he spent his later years in Leith, lying in the vicinity of Owen Sound. It was in the year 1899; he first secured the job of machine shop traineeship at an iron foundry of William Kennedy, who was good and old friend of his father. But, soon Thompson was fired from his traineeship by a foreman who grumbled of his customary slowness. Later in that year, he volunteered himself to fight in the Second Boer War, but his ambition could not take practical shape as he was considered to be medically unfit. He adamantly served in the First World War as a fire ranger in Algonquin Park. In 1904, Thompson returned to Canada, and joined studies with William Cruikshank. It was in the year 1907 Thomson worked with Grip Ltd., which was Toronto based artistic design firm, and eventually catapulted his tryst for expressionist art.
