Shoreline Protection Living Shorelines
• Controls shoreline erosion• Provides a productive, natural shoreline• Strategic placement of plants, stone, sand fill and other
structural and organic materials• Implemented through a variety of shoreline protection
methods

Shoreline Protection Stone structures provide erosion protection Sand fill provides planting terrace Marsh plantings provide flood protection and habitat
enhancement

Parking Launch Area
Preliminary Concept Plan
Waterway Access Launch Area
• Soft (natural) canoe/kayak launch• Natural shoreline
14
Waterway Access Access shoreline through existing trail Provide ADA compliant surface Incorporate launch area into living shoreline design
15
Waterway Access Parking
• 20 car parking spots (no trailers)• Permeable grass paving
16
Waterway Access Access Road
• Follow existing gravel road• Gravel surface to the parking area• Trail to water will be permeable gravel (ADA compliant)• Controlled access (gate) will remain
17
Dredged Material Placement Place dry material from Idlewilde DMP Site
18
Dredged Material Placement Idlewilde DMP Site primarily used for South County
recreational dredging projects such as:• Parish Creek (Federal and County channels)• Rockhold Creek Jetty • Broadwater Creek• Church Creek• West River, etc…
All materials are tested before dredging• Metals• Pesticides & PCBs• Priority pollutants volatiles & semi-volatiles• Total of 149 parameters

Dredged Material Placement Jack Creek Park placement area
20
Dredged Material Placement Place dry material from Idlewilde DMP Site
• 14,000 cubic yards• 3-acre area• Amend soil with lime and fertilizer• Cover with 6 inches of topsoil• Shape to form natural land features• Re-seed with meadow mix
Create small wetlands (rain garden) Restore to existing use and vegetative cover
21
Dredged Material Placement Truck Route
• Idlewilde Road to Snug Harbor Road – ½ mile
