BELAFONTE SINGS THE BLUES - Harry Belafonte. RCA Victor LOP 1006 - The singer's funs will find an interesting new Belafonte sound in this album. His performances on new and older blues tunes are relaxed, intimate and earthy. Ork hacking is excellent. "Hallelujah, I

Love Her So," "One for My Baby and "God Bless the Child" are standout selec lions. This is one of his best. Good cover sketch of the artist.

LET'S GET AWAY FROM IT ALL - Patti Page. Mercury DIC 20387 -11ere's a

tasteful package of standards. Patti Page wraps up a group of nostalgic themes - some swingy, others dreamy -in her usual creamy vocal style. Selections include "Autumn in Rome." "Basin Street Blues" and "April in Paris."

MORE SING ALONG WITH MITCH- Mitch Miller 6t the Gang. Columbia CL 1243 - Mitch Miller's first "Sing Along" album was an immediate best- seller, and this follow -up package should enjoy simi- lar success. JL \IMIE RODGERS SINGS FOLK SONGS -With Hugo Peretti Ork. Roulette R 25042- Jimmie Rodgers tickles a collec- tion of folk songs here for Food results. Tunes include "Soldier, Won t You Marry

"Black Is the Color." "The Riddle n " and "Waltzing Matilda." Rodgers idles them with feeling and the ork eking by Hugo Peretti is excellent. The

101 PRIMITIVA - Martin Denny. Liberty LRP 3087 - Martin Denny has another exciting album for hi -fi addicts and a sock follow -up to his previous 'Exotica" LP's. Album spotlights such fascinating instru- ments as the Japanese Kota Buddhist prayer bells. a 200 -pound carved rhythm log from New Guinea and other equally exotic items. Romantic off -beat wax, and striking cover photo. A natural for stereo.

ELLA FITZGERALD SINGS THE IRVING BERLIN SONGBOOK (2.12)- With Paul Weston Ork. Verve MG V 4019 -2 -Miss Fitzgerald has another sure- fire disk in the latest in her series of sing books by various composers. This time the spotlight is on Irving Berlin. With excellent settings by Paul Weston she rams char 31 of the huuesmith's most loved melodies with irresistible charm. The al- bum is a real work of art. The notes by Nat Hentoff are interesting and informa- tive. Cover slot of the artist is attractive.

ONLY THE LONELY - Frank Sinatra. Capitol W 1053 - A natural! Sinatra seems to become greater with each new effort. In addition to a lovely new Cahn - Van Nausea album title hue, the set in- cludes several other numbers that sug- gest of a feeling of being alone or loneli- ness. Ork backing by Nelson Riddle is, as usual, first rate. Fine cover sketch of the artist.

DYNAMIC DAKOTA STATON - Cap- itol T 1054 - A potent follow-up albino to her previous hit.packages, 'The Late, Late Show" and In the Night." Set spotlights Miss Statua on a fine group of tunes -some of which are not too often heard. Arrangements and ark direction by

MILESTONES - Miles Davis. Colum- bia CL 1193 -This is one of Miles Davis' best to date. KISMET -The Mastcrsounds. World Pa- cific WP 1243 -The Mastcrsouuds give the selections from the Broadway hit of several seasons ago a refreshing and lis - tenable jazz setting. This should prove as successful as their jazz treatment of "Tite King and I." In addition to the delightful and thoughtful jazz arrange- ments, the sparkling sound is a notable feature. Cover shot of a pretty girl in Oriental costume is an added lure.

ON CAMPUS WITH THE DUKES OF DIXIELAND VOL 8 - Audio Fidelity AFLP 1891 -1'he Dukes turn to a group of college tunes for their latest presenta- lotion. As with their previous releases the sound is outstanding. All extremes from the booming of the tuba to lightly per- cussive sounds on the cymbals conte thin with extreme clarity. STRINGS BY STARLIGHT - Holly- wood Bowl Symphony Oreh, (Slatkin). Capitol P 8444 Attractive settings of romantic and modem works are given sensitive performances by the string sec- tion of the Hollywood Bowl Symphony Orch. RCA Victor LM 2234 -Rubinstein performs the busy concerto with surety, displaying his usual dexterity. The variations are given an elegant interpretation. Columbia ML 5291 -More selections by the trio from the 1953 Prades Festival, displaying sweet blendings and firmness of approach. Ca- sals photo on coyer should help lure chamber music fans. 1100SE NEARLY ANY of the new stereo records. Play them on almost any stereo phonograph. And practically every listener will he thrilled the

first time he hears stereophonic sound.

But the phonograph purchaser who will enjoy all the unequalled pleasure of true

stereo's totes/ realism, now and for years to come, is the one who hears and heeds this advice from recording engineers:

Choose a true, balanced stereophonic phonograph -one in which the two sound channels are "separate but equal" right from the tone arm, through matched amplifiers, to identical speaker systems. (And place those speakers at least six feet apart.)

Also, the wise buyer will make sure his view phonograph has an accessible control for balancing the channels... and one master control panel so they stay in balance when bass, treble and volume are adjusted.

FVERY ONE of those important features is included in every complete Capitol

Stereo Phonograph. Capitol's own recording engineers - pioneers in stereo- phonic sound -developed these true, balanced stereo instruments. Custom designers

styled the hardwood cabinets.

These other facts, too, help explain why Capitol Stereo Phonographs give the

greatest value in the whole wide world of sound:

Each model pictured has its own matching speaker cabinet, available separately (as shown with the featured console and leather portable)

Capitol's three deluxe console models are all available as AM -FM -phono combinations Capitol backs every set with its free service warranty And any of the 11 Capitol phonographs for 1959 will play standard recordings brilliantly.

The deluxe console featured at right (Model 836) actually sells for less than S300;

its matching four-speaker cabinet for under S i oo (usual Eastern retail prices).

The place to buy a stereophonic phonograph is the store that offers a demonstration

of high- style, higher fidelity, highest -.value Capitol Stereo Phonographs.
