“To reach deep into our culture and search forwhat talent and skills lie asleep in the blackentertainment experience. We wanted to applyour gathered years in the live appearanceindustry, to make a difference, to change theindustry we live in, creating growth and newopportunity”, said Mr. Walker. And he’s donejust that.

us, the only time we saw Lions and Tigersjumping through hoops; an elephant standingon one leg; trapeze artists and acrobats waswhile attending the Ringling Brothers circus. But, now thanks to Mr. Walker’s vision, wehave the opportunity to see African Americansdo more than justsing and dance! The UniverSoul Circus’ line up for 2011 will

Job 19:25“And as for me, I
know that myRedeemer lives, andat the last He willtake His stand onthe earth.”
Here we areagain takinga look at the
life of our dear friend and brother in theLord? Job!He is our brother, but one that we may not
understand all that well because he is knownas the one who has had the most trouble inthe world? In fact, trouble that was permit-ted by God Himself and imposed by Satan! Not many of us could say that as fact? But,then again? Maybe we do know him or atleast, we can identify with him because weknow troubles too!
I think that it is safe to say that we do notknow the troubles that Job knew or at leastto the extent that he did know them. Jobstroubles were greater than most troubles thatwe may know and ever know in a lifetime? And thank God for that!
Job 14:1 says, “Man, who is born ofwoman, is short-lived and full of turmoil.Sincere words that come from one whomdoes know troubles? Amen!-Almost soundsdepressing?
In fact, within this one chapter alone?(chapter 14) Job asks some questions thatwould only be instigated by a man who hasfaced severely adverse situations?-Verse 4?Who can bring a clean thing out of anunclean thing?-Verse 10? If a man gives upthe ghost, where is he? Verse 14? If a mandie, shall he live again?
Do you hear the hurt? Rather, do you hearthe deep thinking and longing within thisman? A man who is looking to someonewho is much stronger than he? Job wasfaced with some terribly adverse situations, but yet he was able to triumph! My friendGod wants all us a believer who are suffer-ing and are oppressed (and that involvesmost of us, at one time or another). He wantsus to know that there is coming a day? A dayof Resurrection and a day of Victory. A daywhen we will be with the Lord forever!
So to answer the questions that Job posed?Yes, Yes, and Yes! Yes! We can be madeclean when we are unclean! Hebrews 10:22tells us our hearts have been sprinkled clean
from all evil?Yes! We will be with Godwhen we are absent from this body!
Paul said in 2nd Corinthians 5:8 that, tobe absent from this body, is to be presentwith the Lord!? Amen! Yes! We will liveagain, if we know Jesus as Savior! In John11:25, Jesus tells us?”I am the resurrectionand the life; he who believes in Me shall liveeven if he dies?” Amen!
Dear fellow suffers at the time that we doexperience the fullness of our salvation? What I mean is, when we are in heaven atthat time when we experience heaven first-hand? Then we will know the reality ofRomans 8:18? For I consider that the suffer-ings of this present time are not worthy to becompared with the glory that is to berevealed to us.
This kind of verse may seem like a cop-out to quote to one going through troubles? But when we really do know heaven and itsfullness it will be the farthest thing from acop-out. It will be fact!
Are you facing troubles? There is hope! Are you in a whirlwind of chaos? There ispeace! Are you taking on huge battles? There is victory! All of which are found inour Redeemer!
I believe that it is safe to say that it is at
this point in the letter of Job? At thismoment and season of his life, that Job iscoming to grips with what is transpiringwithin his life. This is one of the most lovedand best-known portions of this book? Andit is also a point at which Job is pleadingwith his friends and warning his friends andthis statement is squeezed in the middle ofthese words?
Job testifies and makes an impression withthese simple words! Just read chapter 20;which is the response of one of his friendsand you will see that there can be testi-monies that do break through the hard heart.
You too can have a testimony while fac-ing many troubles; even the worst time ofyour life and others can be changed!Changed, because you are still focused onthe fact that there is a great and loving Godin heaven?
Changed, because you are focused on thefact the God is still the most important andnot yourself? Changed because you are ableto move forward and Triumph in your trou-bles; much like Job was able to do! If youwould like the rest of this weeks messageplease request it at:[email protected]

After hearing President’s obama’s speech onMonday night, and then Speaker of theHouse Boehner’s speech afterwards, it was
quite obvious that Washington has not gained anyground on solving the national budget/debt prob-lems.Any person can see, whether you are rich or poor,
employed or unemployed, democrat or republican, educated or uneducated, that the Republicans aresnowballing. As the wealth gap widens between the“haves” and the “have nots,” the Republicans ignorethe will of the people with their reckless and irre-sponsible actions. The Pew Research analysis finds that, in percent-
age terms, the bursting of the housing market bubblein 2006 and the recession that followed from late2007 to mid-2009 took a far greater toll on thewealth of minorities than whites. From 2005 to2009, inflation-adjusted median wealth fell by 66%among Hispanic households and 53% among blackhouseholds, compared with just 16% among whitehouseholds.
As a result of these declines, the typical blackhousehold had just $5,677 in wealth (assets minusdebts) in 2009; the typical Hispanic household had$6,325 in wealth; and the typical white householdhad $113,149.
These findings are based on the Pew ResearchCenter’s analysis of data from the Survey of Incomeand Program Participation (SIPP), an economicquestionnaire distributed periodically to tens of thou-sands of households by the U.S. Census Bureau. It isconsidered the most comprehensive source of dataabout household wealth in the United States by raceand ethnicity. Before there was a black president it would have
been deemed unpatriotic to say you wanted the pres-ident to fail. In fact, in an article written by GoldieTaylor, it was reported that it took House Speaker
John Boehner 36 hours to return the President’stelephone call. “Despite this unprecedented era ofstrident partisanship, until now we could take a lotof things for granted. For instance, the seeminglysmall matter of Speaker Boehner answering thetelephone when the president calls. Twice in twodays, President obama called and was forced toleave a message. I am willing to wager that thishas never once happened in the history of tele-phones,” said Goldie Taylor.Ms. Taylor also reported that in a stunning show
of unchecked zeal, Senate Majority Leader MitchMcConnell said his number one goal was to makeBarack obama a one-term president. Not creating
new jobs, not advancing public education, notreforming our tax system or investing in America’sfuture. McConnell announced that he is whollydevoted to making sure obama gets a one-way tick-et back to Chicago. From the looks of things, he andhis colleagues plan to kill any effort to jump-start theAmerican economy. They seem to believe that ifthey can just hold on to this bad economy longenough — maintaining the uncertain environmentso business won’t invest and Americans will stay outof work — that they can re-take the White House in2012. Ms. Taylor goes on to say that the real deal is they
don’t want a deal — not on the debt ceiling or any-thing else. The president was right to wonder if therewas anything the republicans could say “yes” to. Theanswer is no. But it isn’t because of some trumpedup commitment to so-called core principals. Thetruth is today’s Republican Party is controlled by afringe group of players who are after one thing:Making sure the first black president is the last. History shows that former President Ronald
Reagan raised the debt limit 18 times. So why is itan issue that our current president, Barack obama(who happens to be part African American), wantsto raise the debt limit to pay the country’s bills? Arethe rich and wealthy so selfish and self-centered thatthey would allow the country to go to ruins insteadof just working with the President to help the wholeof America and not just a select few?
What is the debt ceiling? The debt ceiling is a capset by Congress on the amount of debt the federalgovernment can legally borrow. The cap applies todebt owed to the public (i.e., anyone who buys U.S.bonds) plus debt owed to federal government trustfunds such as those for Social Security andMedicare.
The first limit was set in 1917 and set at $11.5 bil-lion, according to the Center for a ResponsibleFederal Budget. Previously, Congress had to signoff every time the federal government issued debt.
Since March 1962, the debt ceiling has been raised74 times, according to the Congressional ResearchService.
What happens if Congress doesn’t raise the debtceiling before Aug. 2? The going assumption is thatno good can come of it.Treasury would not have authority to borrow any
more money. And that can be a problem since thegovernment borrows to make up the differencebetween what it spends and what it takes in. It usesthat borrowed money to help fund operations andpay creditors.
During President obama’s speech, there was asubliminal message to the American public. Hecalled for the public to get in touch with your elect-ed officials (i.e., write, email, text, tweet, face bookor call) to let them know that you are fed up andspeaking up. We are tired of taking the brunt ofeverything, including paying over and above yourshare of taxes and believe that everyone in America, including those in the House and Senate, should paytheir fair share of taxes as well. As President obamahas said, it took a long time for this country to getinto debt and it’s going to take an effort on every-one’s part to get this country out of debt. To find outwho represents you, visit www.Congress.org.
The Republicans are already thinking about theupcoming elections. In fact, they seem to be moreconcerned about the 2012 elections than keeping thiscountry on track and in good standing. Well, whydon’t we give them something to think about? Whydon’t we start looking at and thinking about who canreplace them in the House and in the Senate for theupcoming 2012 elections? Maybe the thought ofthem losing their positions to someone else mightgive them something else to think about. (www.the-grio.com/politics/beforeblackpresidents-hashtag-highlights-debt-ceiling-double-standard.php).According to an article written by Mike Brunker, in
Washington, the wealth gap has been a major pointof friction in talks about raising the debt ceiling andputting the nation on sounder fiscal footing. Brunkersays that President Barack obama and Democratshave sought a variety of ways to increase revenue, all aimed at those in the upper income bracket. “The president has proposed closing loopholes in
the tax code, such as breaks for owners of private jetsand for oil companies as well as higher income taxrates on wealthier individuals and families.Republicans have made resistance to any taxincreases a focal point in the debate, arguing thatraising taxes in a recession is an impediment to cre-ating jobs. Neither plan currently under considera-tion contains any tax increases,” says Brunker.

Mastering OurTreasures in Order tomove forward
Matthew 13:51-53“Have you understood all
this? They answered, “Yes”.“And he said to them,“Therefore every scribewho has been trained for the
kingdom of heaven is like the master of a householdwho brings out of this treasure what is new andwhat is old.” When Jesus had finished these para-bles, he left that place.
God had placed us in charge of our divinely-designed destiny. We are the masters of thetreasures He has given us. God has granted
us rich resources to meet any challenge facing us.By learning from our past interpreting our present,we can build for our future. Therefore, there is hoperegardless of how hopeless our situations, circum-stances and conditions are.
“The Parable of the Householder,” told by Jesus, found in Matthew 13:51-53 (NRSV) THIS PARA-BLE IDENTIFIES KINGDoM-MINDED DISCI-PLES AS MASTERS oF A HoUSEHoLD. That’sright! For those of us who are MoVING FoR-WARD FoR THE KINGDoM”S SAKE, the Lordgrants us lordship. As it relates to the kingdom’spurpose, He compares us to “masters of a house-hold.” When we seek Him first, He rewards us withrulership. In other words, in designated areas andspecific situations in the Kingdom of God, Heallows us to reign with Him. We may be His ser-vants, but Kingdom-citizens need not be sub-servient to any other but Him. We are masters, I tellyou, of a household. As masters, we are in charge. We have been assigned responsibilities from onHigh. Note that our Lord did not liken His disciplesto house help, field hands, yard workers or gate-keepers in this passage. No, He left us in a positionto give orders. As a matter of fact, He is looking tous to keep things in order until He gets back.
As masters, we have liberties. We are not restrict-ed in caring for the household. He has faith is us todo what needs to be done. He gives us privilegesthat others do not receive. He empowers us to befree to exercise our respective gifts and talents inHis service. We are provided with “the keys of theKingdom” to “loose and bind” whatever is neces-sary to further His work.
As masters, we have access to resource. Godwould not put us in charge and grant us libertieswithout providing us with resources to fulfill ourmastering responsibilities. We have got goods towork with. No Kingdom-builder serves empty -handed. To be sure, He has left us with timely toolsand valuable resources to master the householdwell. So, never Forget, in this parable, the Lordidentifies KINGDoM MINDED DISCIPLES ASMASTERS oF A HoUSEHoLD.
THE PARABLES RECoGNIZES THAT KING-DoM-MINDED DISCIPLES MAXIMIZE THEUSAGE oF THE TREASURER AT oUR DISPoS-
AL. Kingdom-minded disciples understandKingdom principles and precepts. Matthew 13 con-tains six parables. After Jesus has told five of them,He then asked His disciples, “Have you understoodall this?” To which they answered, “Yes”. Then, ina commending spirit, an affirming accolade, and anencouraging enunciation, the Master told His atten-tive and attached followers, “The Parable of theHouseholder.” He wanted them and us to know thatKingdom-building pays off. MoVING FoRWARDFoR THE KINGDoM’S SAKE reaps big divi-dends. The guarantees that we are treasurer-finders.And we become treasure-finders as a result of ourbeing Kingdom-seekers. The Lord’s disciplesunderstand how the Kingdom operates. Kingdom-procedure, Kingdom-priority, Kingdom-purposeand Kingdom-promise are not “Greek” to us. Welearn to know and understand what He teaches.
Kingdom-minded disciples appreciate the treasureat their disposal. Like the record says, “(Kingdom-citizens) bring out of (our) treasure what is new andwhat is old.” We give thanks for the rich heritage ofthe old. We treasure the old Testaments, with itsLaw, Writings, Poetry, Wisdom and Prophets, knowing that it was the only Bible of Jesus and theEarly Church. We value the timeless truths, whichcarried our righteous foreparents from Abraham’scall to Malachi’s Prophecy. We are enriched by thestories of men and women of old who exemplifiedfaith in God who kept His promises to them. Weknow that the treasure in the Sacred Scripture ismore valuable than rubies, diamonds and gold.
Moreover, Kingdom-minded disciples praise Godfor the wealthy-knowledge we find in the new.Because we have walked and talked with theMaster-teacher Himself, we have access to treas-ured truth about which Abraham, Isaac, Jacob,Moses, Samuel, David, Solomon and Elijah knewnot of. Through the eyes and ears of our Lord, wesee jewels in the Word about which the Prophetsonly predicted. With the mind of Christ, we can pro-claim new insights that have never before beenrevealed to His people. The Gospel of Christ makesnew applications in new forms even in our new age.
Let us not forget to read our Bibles and may GodBless you RAL GooD and may He ever keep youin His loving care. For any information aboutLayman and activities please call Gene Turner at214-228-9470

The oppressionby theMidianites was
so severe that manyIsraelites lived incaves and harvestedtheir crops in secret. When the peoplecried to God for help,He chose to useGideon; “‘But Lord,’
Gideon asked, ‘howcan I save Israel? My clan is theweakest inManasseh, and I amthe least in my fam-
ily’” (Judges 6:15). God wanted His Children toknow that true deliverance is only through Hisstrength and by His grace. By using Gideon tosave the people, God taught a valuable lesson oftrust.
Judges 7:2-3“The Lord said to Gideon, ‘You have too
many men for Me to deliver Midian into theirhands. In order that Israel may not boast
against Me that her own strength has savedher, announce now to the people, “Anyonewho trembles with fear may turn back andleave Mount Gilead.”‘ So twenty-two thou-
sand men left, while ten thousand remained.”
God’s message of grace and power would notbe obvious if the army had any hope of victoryby their own strength: “But the Lord said toGideon, ‘There are still too many men’”(Judges 7:4). Gideon’s army started with 32,000but he was not sent into battle until the armywas shrunk to only three hundred. These wereimpossible odds! But God always reignssupreme in the impossible: the battle was com-pletely victorious!!
God is never interested in the “wonderful”things we can do for Him. He is pleased only byour obedience and our trust. In fact, God allowsmany of our great endeavors to fail simplybecause they are being pursued without givingHim absolute control. We are never to rest inour own strength and ability; rather, we are tocontinually walk by faith. Several hundredyears after Gideon, the prophet Isaiah gave thissame message: “Woe to those who trust in themultitude of their chariots and in the greatstrength of their horsemen, but do not look tothe Holy one of Israel” (Isaiah 31:1).
God will lead us into victory, but we mustgive Him our total trust. When we walk in Hisvictory, we will have the joy of witnessing Hismighty hand and find true fulfillment in bring-ing Him glory and honor. His victory is neverby our strength, savvy, cunning, or intelligence. It is only as we trust Him to work in and throughthe empty vessel of our life. True victory willonly be won as we go into battle with ALL ofHim and without too much of us.

From the Mount
Dear Dr. Hollie,
I’m ready to marry my girl-friend. I’m black and she’swhite. Most of my family
has a problem with that, but Idon’t care because my momlikes her a lot. on the otherhand, my girlfriend’s parentsdon’t like me. I’m a reallygood guy, but I guess I do looka little rough to some people, and that’sthe reason that they give for not likingme. I’m not thuggish in any way, but I’myoung and I think I dress my age, I am 26and she is 25. I am always very respect-ful though. My mom thinks it could pos-sibly be because of my skin color. So mymom doesn’t want us to get married untilher parents are on board with our rela-tionship. My girlfriend keeps saying thather parents will eventually accept me.They both read your column and suggest-ed that I get your opinion.
Needing A 4th Opinion
Dear Needing,
People who fall in love donot have to answer to otherfolks. However, I know thatthere is no perfect world, soin every relationship, there’sgoing to be trials and tribula-tions. I say, if your love isstrong enough, it willendure, so go with your
heart.

son could verywell serve as areminder to allbelievers that Godis the one that
gives us the vic-tory in our lives.our subject was“Let God Rule”
Judges 7:2-4, 13-15; 8:22-25. In thislesson we see God take a man who wasnot heroic nor a military man, and usehim to defeat Israel’s enemies. Gideonwas instructed to gather an army and32,000 men answered the call. God thensays a strange thing “Gideon your armyis to big” tell all those that are fearfuland timid to go home, and 22,000 wenthome leaving only 10,000. God saysyou still have too many and he thenreduces the army to 300 and says itwould be through these few men that hewould gain the victory. God does notdepend on numbers but uses those thatare willing to put their faith in him and
his ability to accomplish the impossible.often this is the situation in the localchurch, there may be a lot of people butonly a few that are willing to do some-thing to support the church in kingdombuilding. Many are called but few arechosen. The morning message wasdelivered by Pastor Lloyd Morgan fromthe subject “Let it be real” Matt.23:1-8.The sad truth is that there are peoplein churches that are not real. What theydo is for some personal motive, to makethemselves look good. The Bible callsthem Hypocrites and Job 27:8 says; forwhat is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God takethaway his soul? The message focused ontwo groups the scribes and Phariseesand Jesus said “all their works they dofor to be seen of men:”the Christian ischallenged to be sure that everything hedoes for his master is real.
God bless!
So that your faith might not rest inthe wisdom of men (human philoso-phy), but in the power of God. 1Corinthians 2: 5
Eld lloyd T. Morgan
When wep r a y ,w e
must rememberthat we can cometo God as his littlechildren. We mustnot forget the GodAlmighty is alsoour very ownFather. “For wehave not received
the spirit of bondage to fear; but we havereceived the spirit of adoption, wherebywe cry, Abba, Father” (Romans 8:15).And because we are God’s childrenthrough faith in Christ, “God has sentforth the spirit of His son into our hearts, crying “Abba”, Father” (Galatians 4:6).The word “Abba” is a term of intimacy. We can come to God in simple faith as achild would go to his natural lovingfather.

preach the good news to all creation

The NFL owners unani-mously agreed on a laboragreement last Thursday.
The players were expected toratify the agreement lastWednesday, but that never hap-pened.
After the owners signed theagreement unanimously the players screamed foul. Theplayers said the owners agreed to some things that werenot originally in the negotiation. They said they had beenhood winked, bamboozled, tricked, etc. The players hadcertain leader type players on every sports media outletin the country saying, things like we don’t have a timeline. We will go over this thing with a fine tooth comb. They gave the impression that the owners had pulled afast one on them.
Saturday the day after all of the accusations and wordsof distrust the players’ leadership team announced afterstudying the deal they would recommend approval bythe players.
All of the fuss you heard, suspicion of being trickednothing of any consequence was changed. Now it’s agood deal. Saturday you would have thought therewas a possibility that it could be a while yet, before the
lockout was officially over. Listening to the players you would think the owner
had put the player back past the Curt Flood ruling. Ithought the owners had taken free agency away fromthem.
It used to be very puzzling to me why a college stu-dent and in some cases college graduates need an agentif they are undrafted? After the negotiations and listen-ing to some of the trouble these guys get in with whatthey say and do; I know now why they need representa-tion. These guys tweet things and say things before thepress and then they have to retract their statements.
Guys that readily come to mind; James Harrison, DezBryant, just to name a couple, believe me there are more. There is always something taken out of context or mis-quoted, with these guys.
I would really like to see some one hold JamesHarrison’s hand. This guy bad mouthed the commis-sioner, and two team mates. The Commissioner took$100.000 bucks from Harrison in fine money in 2010
and still has the power. Mr. Harrison hasn’t made a dimesince the Super Bowl and yet he’s laid the ground workto start the season off in a financial hole. The Steelerscould fine him and the commissioner, yet this geniustried to clarify his position in an apology. He never apol-ogized to the commissioner or his teammates he apolo-gized to Gay people. out of the three he offended Gaypeople are the only ones that cannot fine him. Unlesssomeone takes a telephone from him he could play thisseason for free, so the strike could have been a benefit tohim. At least on strike he can’t get fined for illegal hits.
FYI ten teams will report Wed. 27t . 10 teams reporton Thurs., 10 report on Fri.; The Texans and Jets onSunday. Football is back!!
