    THE PEOPLE OF THE PARISH

    Mass Intention

    When a Mass intention says The People of the Parish or (in some parishes) Pro Populo it is a Mass being offered for all the people who live within the parish boundaries.

    This is an ancient tradition of the Church and of the priesthood, whereby a Pastor, per Canon law, has Masses offered for those who are entrusted to his care… this includes those of other faiths and those who may not practice any faith at all.

    This is a wonderful aspect of our faith that you may wish to share with a neighbor - especially someone who is on their own, ill or who has asked for prayers - so they know that each week we offer our most sacred prayer for their intentions in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

  • Almighty God, Father of all nations, for freedom you have set us free in Christ Jesus.

    We praise and bless you for the gift of religious liberty, the foundation of human rights, justice, and the common good.

    Grant to our leaders the wisdom to protect and promote our liberties;

    By your grace may we have the courage to defend them, for ourselves and for all those who live in this blessed land.

    We ask this through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, our patroness,

    and in the name of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ,

    in the unity of the Holy Spirit, with whom you live and reign, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
