Stralis Active Day and Active Time

introduce a new era to the Australian

truck market with a combination of high

technology and advanced, aerodynamic

styling.

Active Day (day cab) and Active Time

(sleeper cab) Stralis models with their

2.3 metre cabs offer unsurpassed driver

safety, comfort and convenience, as well

as outstanding levels of productivity and

economy of operation.

The aerodynamic design of the Stralis

cabs helps fuel efficiency, while the large

air intake apertures in the front panel

help optimise the operating temperature

in the engine.

The front quarter air deflectors keep

the sides clean and the zinc-plated steel

panels ensure a long cab life.

Stralis Active Day and Active Time are

built in Australia, which means they are

not only easily tailored for specific needs,

but are engineered to take local operating

conditions in their stride.

Stralis Active Day is an exceptionally

versatile day cab vehicle designed for

urban distribution and is aimed at

applications where maximum payload

capabilities are critical.

The striking, aerodynamic cab features

a large grille supplemented by large

air intakes in the bumper, as well as

lateral deflectors that channel airflow

to protect the side windows, mirrors

and door handles from road grime.

Ergonomic, well-placed grab handles

and generous-size, non-slip steps

permit easy and safe entry and exit for

the driver - which is essential when

numerous deliveries are made during

the working day.

In keeping with the requirements of

working in urban and suburban areas,

the Cursor 8, Cursor 10 and Cursor

13 engines combine efficiency with

outstanding flexibility and low emissions.

The Stralis Active Time sleeper cab

offers the choice of a standard low

roof or an optional medium roof. It

was designed for logistics applications

requiring sleeper accommodation and

is suitable for medium or long haul

duty.

The functional and ergonomic cabs

meet all driver demands over a wide

range of applications.

Aerodynamic design helps optimise

fuel consumption and increases cost

effectiveness, while superb driver

comfort is provided by the new cab

suspension system that is tuned for

Australian operating conditions.

The versatility of Stralis Active Time

and Active Day range is ensured by

the powerful and flexible Cursor 8,

Cursor 10 and Cursor 13 engines,

with power outputs ranging from

355hp to 505hp.

To help ensure the provision of an

ideal workspace, owners and drivers

were involved in the early design

stages of the new Stralis Active Day

and Active Time.

The result is an efficient and relaxing

environment, for both work and rest,

that maximises overall productivity.

All controls, from the gear lever to

the switches on the fascia, are easy

to reach from the latest-generation

Isri driver’s seat. The adjustments for

height, cushion tilt and cushion length

are located on the seat itself and

allow optimum driving comfort. Safety

is assured by the integrated mountings

for the lap sash safety belts, while

the pneumatically adjustable steering

column can be easily moved out of the

way to assist entry and exit.

The driver is truly pampered with

a range of interior lights, a storage

drawer under the passenger seat and

another on the fascia in front of the

fuse box.

Convenience is complemented by

a bottle-holder built into the left-

hand door, a can-holder on the fascia

beside the mobile phone pocket,

and retaining nets to secure loose

oddments in the upper compartments.

The Active Time sleeper cab’s

availability of two roof heights

allows the choice of single or twin

bunks, while access to the storage

compartments is made easy via large

doors under the lower bunk.

An ideal work environment, simple-to-

use on-board electronics and proven

reliability underpin the definition of

the Stralis as an “integrated transport

system”.

The Iveco Colour Display (ICD)

screen is easy to read and has

integrated controls on the steering

wheel which make it possible to

determine the status of many vehicle

parameters, from average speed to

fuel consumption, to the vehicle’s

maintenance requirements – which

is ideal for fleet use. It is possible

to carry out everyday checks on

vital aspects, such as fluid levels, at

any time. The radio and CD player

are also operated from the steering

wheel, allowing the driver to focus

concentration on the road.

The cockpit-style wraparound console

featured in both Stralis Active Day

and Active Time cabs contains the

standard climate control and air

conditioning controls, as well as

functions including the park brake,

trailer brake, differential locks and

rear suspension dump. This perfectly

complements a cab made quiet by

optimum soundproofing and the low

noise levels of the Cursor engine.

The instrument panel and the

ergonomic fascia house the other

“soft touch” type buttons. As well

as the standard climate control and

air conditioning controls, there is

a radio with a CD player operated

from the steering wheel, perfectly

complementing a cab made quiet by

optimum soundproofing and low noise

levels of the Cursor engine.

Page 14: Iveco Stralis Brochure 2007 Australia

Stralis Active Day and Active Time’s

Can-Bus wiring system guarantees

reliability and productivity by

permitting full electronic control.

The system allows accumulation of

data from engine, transmission and

other equipment, making it possible

to transfer information to a fleet

management system.

A range of new-generation Cursor

engines forms the powerful, reliable

heart of the Stralis Active Day and

Active Time. The Cursor 8 produces

355hp, while the Cursor 10 is available

in two horsepower ratings: 405 and

435hp. The Cursor 13 produces 485

and 505hp.

All Cursor engines use a four valves

per cylinder, overhead camshaft

layout with unit pump injectors and

a variable geometry turbocharger

(VGT).

Cursor engines are the most

innovative and advanced available in

the heavy truck market. They have

constant high torque values across

a wide band of engine speeds, which

translates into fewer gear changes,

high fuel efficiency and low emissions.

A Fuel Pro 230 primary filter

protects the injectors from dirty or

contaminated fuel, while a two-speed

fan assures durability, at the same

time further lowering noise levels and

raising thermal efficiency.

For efficient performance, it is

essential to correctly match engine,

gearbox and rear axle ratios. Stralis

provides the perfect balance for any

application. For situations requiring

frequent gearshifts, such as urban

distribution, the EuroTronic II

automated constant mesh transmission

that is standard in all Stralis models is

ideal. The advantages include improved

driving comfort and safety, as well as

reduced wear and tear on the whole

driveline.

In addition to the high standards of

passive safety, all Stralis models use

ventilated disc brakes on the front

axle. Optional disc brakes are available

for the rear axles.

For those times when you need

workshop assistance, the Iveco

computerised diagnostic system

(EASY) reduces problem diagnosis

time as well as time in the workshop.

It assesses all the vehicle’s parameters

in a few seconds, enabling system

status checks and problem diagnosis

to be carried out on the roadside.

The Stralis Active Day and Active Time

range allow the specification of the

right truck for any application. A wide

range of configurations is available.

There are three different cabs; the

Active Day cab is for day-to-day use,

while the longer Active Time sleeper

cab is available with a normal roof and

one bunk, or as a medium roof sleeper

with the option of two bunks.

All models have standard body-

coloured bumpers with replaceable

lower corners, as well as protective

covers for head and driving lights.

For long journeys at higher cruising

speed, aerodynamic kits that lower

drag and further improve fuel

consumption are available.

There is a wide choice of wheelbases

to accommodate all body lengths and

trailer sizes. The flat-topped chassis

simplifies the fitting of a wide range of

standard and specialist bodies.
