Background for the concept of Leavefor Change

Originally the concept came from "Congé Solidaire“, anNGO in France and it involved an employer’s sponsorshipfor its employee doing a "Congé Solidaire" assignment.

After a few years, the name of the organization changed toPlanète Urgence and made overseas assignments availablein development work and environmental research to

individuals, willing to pay the cost of their assignment, withor without the sponsorship of an employer.

Authorizes the participation of the volunteeremployees, as well as time before and after the

assignment to share their experience withcolleagues at work

Makes a financial donation to Uniterra. In some

cases, the employer may choose to provide only aportion of the amount and encourage finding othersources to fundraise the remainder.
