came strong in battle, and turned back foreign invaders. Women received back their dead through resurrection. Others were tortured and would not receive deliverance, in order to obtain a better resurrection. Still others en-dured mockery, scourging, even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, sawed in two, put to death at sword's point; they went about garbed in the skins of sheep or goats, needy, afflicted, tormented. The world was not worthy of them. They wandered about in deserts and on mountains; they dwelt in caves and in holes of the earth. Yet despite the fact that all of these were approved because of their faith, they did not obtain what had been promised. God had made a better plan, a plan, which included us. Without us, they were not to be made perfect. Therefore, since we for our part are surrounded by this cloud of wit-nesses, let us lay aside every encumbrance of sin which clings to us and persevere in running the race which lies ahead; let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, who inspires and perfects our faith.

Браття і сестри! Усі, що вірою підбили царства, чинили справедливість, обітниць осягнули, загородили пащі левам, силу вогню гасили, вістря меча уникали, ставали сильні, бувши недолугі, на війні проявили

мужність, наскоки чужинців відбивали. Жінки діставали своїх померлих, які воскресли. Інші загинули в муках, відкинувши визволення, щоб осягнути ліпше воскресіння. Інші наруг і бичів зазнали та ще й кайданів і в'язниці; їх каменовано, розрізувано пилою, брано на допити; вони вмирали, мечем забиті; тинялися в овечих та козячих шкурах, збідовані, гноблені, кривджені; вони, яких світ був невартий, блукали пустинями, горами, печерами та земними вертепами. Всі вони, дарма що мали добре засвідчення вірою, одержали обіцяного, бо Бог зберіг нам щось краще, щоб вони не без нас осягли досконалість. Тому і ми, маючи навколо себе таку велику хмару свідків, відкиньмо всякий тягар і гріх, що так легко обмотує, і біжімо витривало до змагання, що призначене нам, вдивляючися пильно в Ісуса, засновника і завершителя віри.

Ukraine-Kyiv Pavilion 2019 is recruiting for Folklorama 2019 effec-tive June 1, 2019. This year, Ukraine-Kyiv Pavilion will operate during the second week, August 11 to August 17, 2019, at Maples Collegiate, 1330 Jefferson Avenue.

Pavilion set up will take place from August 6th to August 9th. Pavilion take down will take place on Monday, August 19. On May 26 the Blessed Virgin Mary branch of the UCWLC celebrated our

73rd Anniversary.

Thank you to all the parishioners who generously contributed to our Tag Day. We lead the praying of the rosary before Divine Liturgy. After Liturgy, Fa-ther Bashutskyy installed the new Exec-utive and Committee Members. We then said a prayer in honour of our 73rd Anniversary. Thank you to Simeon Rusnak for taking the group picture. Then we proceeded to Canad Inns Gar-

den City for a luncheon. Our guest speaker was Sister Oresta, SSMI. Service pins were pre-sented to Jean Sherman, HLM- 60 year pin by Frances Bodnar, and Sylvia Prokopanko - 65 year pin by Sylvia Romanchuk. A 25 year pin was given to Stella Demedash by Mary Hull. Thank you to all the parishioners for you help and support of the UCWLC during the year.

Everyone is welcome to attend the O. Koshetz Choir Recital, which will take place at our church Thurs-day, June 20th. The recital will begin at 7:30 pm, and will feature both folk and religious repertoire. During the recital, a free will offering will take place to collect funds for musical programming and therapy at Holy Family Nursing Home.
