The Brazilian Chemical Society (Sociedade Brasileira de Química, SBQ) is the IUPAC National Adhering Organization (NAO) ofBrazil and one of the most representative and important scientific associations in Latin America, with over 5,500 members in Braziland abroad.

So far, South America never hosted a World Chemistry Congress. We are thus well aware of the strong international impact of this initiative and we aim to maintain the highest standards of excellence to fulfill the responsibilities that this event requires. When choosing Brazil, we can bring an entire continent of chemists closer to the global IUPAC community. The venue of this Congress is São Paulo, one of the largest and most dynamic cities in the world that now receives over 90,000 events a year. This multicultural city is not limited to a diverse population: it boasts first-world infrastructure, world-class hotels, excellent gastronomy, world-class museums and plenty of culture, music, shows and attractions for every cultural background, age, taste and budget.

We hope to have your support for this proposal to host for the first time the World Chemistry Congress in this continent, increasing the presence of IUPAC in this part of the world. Please visit the official website of the candidature of São Paulo to host the 2017 IUPAC World Chemistry Congress at www.sbq.org.br/IUPAC2017

Brazil will deliver an unforgettable IUPAC Congress, energized bythe passion, hospitality and creativity of the Brazilian people.

Best wishes and we hope to see you in Brazil in 2017!
