PRSSA - SeptemberMy immediate goal for PRSSA when I took over as

president was to update and create social media sites in order for members and the public to stay connected to the organization.

I updated the IUP PRSSA Twitter and Facebook accounts. I also created a blog and Formspring for the organization.

Our September meeting included a wrap-up from the summer, where members discussed their internships and I outlined my goals for the organization.

During spring 2010, I created a newsletter for our PRSSA chapter and it is used as promotional material for our organization.

PRSSA - October• Our October meeting was an IUP Alumni Panel made up of:

▫ Jeff Krakoff, director of brand marketing practice at Burson-Marsteller,

▫ Anna Goth, Communications Assistant for the American Legacy Foundation

▫ Tim Hayes, president of Tim Hayes Consulting in Pittsburgh▫ Mark Richards, vice president of marketing and public

relations for Indiana Regional Medical Center▫ Elaine Smith of the IUP Communications Department.

Also during the month of October, several members went to see Tom McMillan, VP of Communication for the Pittsburgh Penguins, speak at Point Park University.

PRSSA - November

•For our November meeting we had speaker Stephanie Rosenberger from Big Girl Marketing discuss the trials and joys of owning her own PR business.

PRSSA December

•Our December meeting was a resume workshop with the IUP Career Development Center. Members were urged to bring their resumes in for tips and editing.

•We also began fundraising for the 2011 PRSSA National Assembly in Seattle, Wa.

PRSSA - January

•Tom McMillan visited the IUP campus for our January meeting to discuss the Pittsburgh Penguins branding strategy and answer questions from students and community members.
