Focus - Briefing and interactive discussions on the background to the Commission on the Status of Women and its 54th Session - Review of the CSW54priority themes:

• Review of the implementation of the Platform for Action and the outcomes of the 23rd special session of the General Assembly, with an emphasis on the sharing of experiences and good practices with a view to overcoming remaining obstacles and new challenges; and

• Review of its contribution to shaping a gender perspective towards the full realization of the Millennium Development Goals.

Event Title: Women in the Global Economy in a Time of Crisis Workshop will bring together trade union women from around the world for a dialogue with representatives of NGOs, women's movements and government representatives. Initial brief presentations from expert panelists, the workshop will stimulate discussions on the impacts of the multiple food, financial, jobs and climate crises on women's prospects for achieving decent livelihoods. The presentations will take place against the backdrop of Section F of the Beijing Platform of Action (BPfA), Women in the Global Economy, and will examine these multiple crises as a new and emerging issue to be addressed within the BPfA.

Please bring your confirmation letter and photo identification with you, in order to get a UN grounds pass (Please check your confirmation letter to ensure that your name is spelled correctly, as name changes will not be possible after a cut-off date which will be determined later.). Over 8000 NGO’s have registered for CSW54 although many will not actually attend. Nevertheless, a record number of NGOs are expected to participate. To avoid bottlenecks, you are strongly advised to do your on-site registration to obtain your UN grounds passes ahead of time. Onsite registration will take place in the General Assembly Lobby. Use the Visitors’ Entrance on 1st Avenue opposite 46th St. Go to the DAW NGO registration desk. On-site registration hours
