Solid State Lighting

Solid State LightingIts effect on the Motion Picture IndustryWhat is Solid State Lighting?Any type of lighting that uses LEDs, OLEDs (Organic), or PLEDs (Polymer)Most white LED fixtures convert blue light to an approximate white light spectrum

Tungsten LightProduces light with a filament wire heated to a high temperature by an electric current passing through it, until it glowsProduces a continuous spectrum of lightHas a consistent color temperature of 3200K

Advantages of SSLLittle generation of heatLong life spanDimmable with consistent color temperatureSmaller and lighter over tungsten fixturesMore energy efficient

Disadvantages of SSL

Does not produce a continuous spectrum of lightMost fixtures are soft sourcesProduces a narrow beam of lightFew offer the option of changing between 3200-5600KCostlyTungsten v.
