BRIEFING ... II was in May th.of Closs 44-13 DR arrived
at Concho Field. Since then the members . have had mony full days and strenuous
hours of study ond·flyin9. Heralded os the
largest class to graduote from San Angelo
Army Air Field. +4-13 hos retained its
number and graduate the most officers in
o single group.
It is with great pride that almost 230
cadets face the future September 30 to
become bombardiers who will see the end
of warfare in the facific. As they 9roduate
r.ear the hour of victory in Europe, a
massive undertoHng awaits them. It is to
doy that they begin lo prodice what they
have learned in this odvanced bombordie•
school. May we soon see the day when
students from 44-13 troin their sights aC·
curately on the isle of Japon. It is this wish
that forms the dedicotion for this closs
book.
We hove tried t0o gother photographs for
publication which pictured the life of these
cadets while in !reining . We believ~ our
~fforts hove N>I been in vein, for we know
a picture of the environment, • snopshot
ol doily life. and the portrait of o fellow
~lossmofe will recall mony h"PPY doys to
the officer who nuddles over o bcmbsight
in wor slies of distan t lands.
-The Publishers
NOVA BRASHEARS
M ANY are the members of Class 44-13
who benefitted from Nova Brashears
of the Cadet Club. Possibly her greatest
assistance was g iven lo cadet wives who
depended upon her for lodging during the
eighteen weeks stay at Concho, but all will
remember the individual assista nce, after
noon donces, parties and personal help extended by this lady who devotes her time
lo carinc;i for the needs of cadets. We know our feeling will be shared by all gr~duafes when we pause to salute one who is known as "Mrs. 8."

LAURENT P. LaROCHE Army Medical Center Washington D. C.
A young Bcmbcrdier lay dying At the close of a bright surr.mer day: Around him his co:nrades gathered. To ccriry rhe fragmen ts away.
He spit out a rate knob and pinion. And slirred in the hole whqre he lay, And turned to his wondering c-omro:des. These final words did say-
Toke the pu ~'1 rod out of my stomach, Take the !ink fork out ol my spleen, Take the ;;ell crank out o/ my liver, Take the dash pot out of my bean.
Take the !rail plate out ol my breast bone, Take the e yepiece 0\11 of my no.se Take the trigger oul al my elbow, Take the gear teetli out ol my tocc.
Take the drill knob out al my larynx, Take the gyro out of my brain. Take the cradle oul of my k idneys And a ssemble the bombsight again.
His eyes grew dim, they heard him choke. He raised rus bloody h~d. He spit out the mirror rack pinicn, And /ell backward, cold and dead.
Hi~ comrades bore him scrdly-T~e brave young life that he gave And btnied him deep near the runway With a bombsighl on the grave.
