Status HANA operation/technical experience at itelligence

Migration of itelligence ERP productive system (EpH 7, Oct 2013)

„Global Business Solutions Landscape“ with more than 30 SAP systems for development,

training and sales presentations (Business Suite, Analytics, Mobility, …) migrated in

Q2/2013; 400+ operational users in 23 countries

HANA Enterprise Cloud Partnership as one of the first partners globally

Challenges with the ERP migration

HANA related challenges for us

(not looking at EhP7 related topics here):

Analysis of the highlighted objects in the

code inspector (250 hits) and identified

transactions during key user tests:

~ 5 man days analysis

Optimized coding of Z-Development:

Only 3 man days code optimization for Go Live

Correction of 8 non-performing select statements

Correction of ~80 selects for cluster tables with „Order by“

Still further potential identified in analysis, but not urgent or critical

Project system (PS) performance still to be improved with use of optimized new transactions and

optimization of our user exits

HR payroll run needs to be optimized even more, but maybe due to itelligence‘s complex rules

Summary:

Surprisingly easy technical migration and low migration effort and costs (less than expected)

NO real critical topic or area

Even our very old custom coding was migrated easily

Long runners are about 70-80% faster

Several standard transactions are just slightly faster

Better usability - users see main improvements with reports, lists and jobs,

since the performance of daily tasks and operations was already good

In total we are much faster now!

AND now we can look for and analyze future improvements!!

Use new cockpits and transaction variants from SAP‘s future improvements

Re-integrate BI-function into ERP with direct reporting on core data

New project cockpit for service providers using HANA Live and a mobile App!

Conclusion


Many advantages for customers

Future proof technology:

Strategic product of SAP, all future system enhancements and

new products will be based on the SAP HANA platform

Modern, open technology with open standards, for multiple

devices with modern HTML5 user interfaces

Secure and proven solution:

All proven functionality is ready for use with SAP HANA!

Operative hosting of SAP HANA platform is already daily routine in the data center

All standard and customer programs can be carried over without a change to SAP HANA

On top of this numerous options for optimization based on SAP HANA, e.g. shift of complex calculations to the

data base

Effectiveness and costs:

Consolidation of all processes on a single platform reduces complexity and costs

Protection of existing investment, e.g. through capturing of existing system configuration or specific migration

tools offering a safe passage towards the new technology

Attractive pricing models for new customers, when data base licensing is required anyway
