Editorial Dear Readers, It is not often that experts, leave alone amateur mete-orologists, get it right. We too got the weather fore-cast for summer abjectly wrong this year. We would not have got such awfully bad weather even if we had wished for it. Indeed, this summer will most likely go down in the annals as the worst on record! In spite of all that, we dearly hope that all of you who took their summer holidays did indeed have a splendid time and are back fully charged and brim-ming with confidence to face the stress and strain of everyday lives. As we write, summer is not yet over and, although temperatures are not what it should be at this time of year, we hope we will still enjoy the delights of a late summer in the weeks ahead. It has not been a good summer elsewhere either, least of all in the trouble spots of Ukraine and the Middle East. Therefore, if it is not the weather or other natu-ral catastrophes then it is human folly that is making this world an increasingly dangerous and unpleasant place for a growing number of people right across the globe. One cannot but wonder, in this year of the centenary anniversary of the start of the First World War, if there had ever been an epoch fraught with such dangers and widespread suffering as the pre-sent one is. Switzerland has a unique place in history because of its role as a neutral party in the two world wars that dramatically changed the western world as well as the far-flung territories of the imperial nations of Europe. As wars rage across parts of the globe, it is indeed time for Switzerland to reflect on its long-standing policy of neutrality and engagement in the interests of peace. It is certainly not the time for Swit-zerland to pander to the interests of purely egoistical nations. Fortunately, it has not been only doom and gloom this summer. There were some wonderful and me-morable moments for great many people across the world. We too in Switzerland enjoyed what became, undoubtedly, a superb football World Cup Final in Brazil and the European Championships in athletics right at our doorstep in Zurich. Zurich2014 at the Letzigrund and the streets of this charming city was a thoroughly impressive event and, although the Swiss team fell short of our expectations, the organizers did indeed come up with a well-managed and of-ten spectacular festival of sports. Unfortunately, the weather played foul on some days, but it could not completely dampen the spirits of the organizers and most of the spectators. The organizers truly deserve all the praise for a job done so well and for bringing all that enthusiasm to the festival through the hund-reds of volunteers and helpers. As the summer draws to a close, we will wait hoping for a glorious autumn to make winter more welco-ming and less fearsome in our fortified minds. It is during this seasonal transition that the city of Zurich holds its traditional assault-rifle shooting competition for youngsters between the ages of thirteen and se-venteen years. The Knabenschiessen is unique to Zu-rich and, although less of an attraction to the tourists, it is nevertheless popular with the locals in Zurich...
