E. DROPPING:
The student drop date is ***** with a “W”. If you plan to drop, make sure you fill out the proper
paperwork. Don’t assume I will drop you. Students are academically responsible for dropping
this course.
F. TUTORS AND ADDITIONAL HELP
Tutors will be available and their hours will be posted and announced. Computer software is
available seven days a week; hours will be posted. Lab assistants and tutors are here to help you
get started, and to assist you with any problems you may encounter. Take advantage of these
services, as currently these services are offered at no charge. Students who care use the tutorial
services and the computer software generally show an improvement in grade performance and
show a better understanding of the biological concepts. Tutoring can be found at Mission Del
Paso campus in the science and also from instructor.
G. CLASSROOM RULES
You are required to follow proper lab safety procedures during all laboratory procedures.
Horseplay, inappropriate behavior, and improper handling of lab materials will result in
immediate dismissal from the lab and will result in a zero for attendance.
I expect you to behave in an adult manner, but I do encourage questions and comments
regarding classroom topics.
INSTRUCTOR’S POLICIES
D. ATTENDANCE:
On-time attendance at every class meeting is required. All examinations material will come
directly from the lectures, laboratory and assigned reading from the chapters. Attendance is
essential to successfully master this course; your success in this class is correlated with attendance,
10% of your lecture grade will consist of attendance and participation. Attendance will be taken
from the start of the hour until all students have been accounted for, if you arrive after the time
you will be counted absent. Students that attend regularly generally perform much better and
score higher on exams.
Dual Credit: Please make every possible effort to take the exams on the scheduled date. If you miss an
exam, a make-up exam will be available for excused absences ONLY. It will consist mainly of essay
and/or short answer questions. If you will be traveling for competitions/events, it is the student’s
responsibility to make prior arrangements with the instructor if unable to attend class the day of the
exam.
Biology 1107: Spring 2018
C. Extra Credit: There will be several opportunities to earn extra credit. No extra credit work will
be accepted unless it is assigned by the instructor & available to all students.
Academic honesty: Cheating will not be tolerated. Being caught giving or receiving answers on
exams, using cheat sheets, or any other form of cheating, will cause immediate disciplinary
action. This can include dropping you from this class. Cell phones, iPods, mp3 players, etc. must
be put away during exams. You cannot be excused to take care of personal business during
exams.
Tardies: Tardy students should be seated without disturbing lecture. School policy allows a
student to be dropped if he/she is absent for 3 consecutive absences. Chronic tardiness will also
lead to corrective measures.
H. STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES
E.P.C.C offers a variety of services to persons with documented sensory, mental, physical, or
temporary disabling conditions to promote success in classes. If you have a disability and believe
you may need services, you are encouraged to contact the Center for Students with Disabilities to
discuss your needs with a counselor. All discussions and documentation are kept confidential.

consequences as to actions will be represented in the classroom instruction. We will address these
actions and consequences as sincere as those, which one must make during the course of our
lives. As such the curriculum is presented with the outmost and unfeigned portrayal as things are
in the world today, viewed from many perspectives (Research). Student grades will be discussed
with consent of student enrolled in a dual credit course.
