We realise family demands may sometimes make this difficult and appreciate this. To ensure we comply with attendance processes all students who arrive after 9 am will need to be signed in at reception. Nicola Parker our School Officer will enter this on to the attendance database and issue you with a “Late Note” that is then passed directly to the class teacher. End of day In our classrooms the teaching program operates until 2.50 pm each day. We appreciate families and carers waiting outside the main Burbridge School glass entrance doors or outside C2 until 2.50 pm when your child will come out to you. We are aware some families need to collect students from multiple schools. In line with Education Department policies we now require all students collected prior to 2.50 pm to be signed out from reception on all occasions. When children go home each day at 2.10 pm over the week they miss 200 minutes of lessons. This equals almost 5 full weeks of schooling in a year. Leaving during the day We continue to require your support in ensuring all families who need to collect their child during the school day for appointments etc. be signed out through reception. Arrival before 8.30 A few families arrive prior to 8.30 each day and usually wait outside the school buildings. We would like to trial a new process and see over Term 1 if it works for families and the school. If your child is Primary School aged you are welcome to enter the junior playground and supervise your child till 8.3O when our doors open. To access this playground you walk out of our school grounds, walk along the footpath to Koondoola School, enter their gate and follow the path to the entry gate for our junior playground. We do require you or your carer to stay with your child and supervise them till 8.30 am when our staff begin work and the school doors open. Signing In and Out During Term 1 we will be installing in reception, a new and efficient electronic system for recording all students, staff and visitors on site. This will ensure you have a quick and effective way of signing your child in or out during the school day when they may arrive after 9.00 am, leave prior to 2.50 pm or attend

End of day

In our classrooms the teaching program operates until 2.50 pm each day.

Arrival before 8.30

A few families arrive prior to 8.30 each day and usually wait outside the school buildings. We would like to trial a new process and see over Term 1 if it works for families and the school.

A warm welcome back to all our wonderful Burbridge school community. Its been a

great start to the year with students returning back to class fully refreshed and

happy to resume their learning journey with us. It’s been wonderful to see our

students make progress with their mobility skills whilst being actively engaged with a

range of low and high tech communication devices during the school day. This semester

our lessons are based around the ‘gardening’ theme. In keeping with this, the first

four weeks of term has been a busy one for us, as we have been getting ready for our

assembly performance based on the much loved story, “ The Enormous Turnip”. We

have listened to various versions of this story, engaged with sensory based arts

activities and role play. Overall, our students have enjoyed trying to transform a

gigantic beach ball into a turnip and have helped create their own paper turnips for our

class display board using paint, rollers and tissues. Messy but mostly fun!
