Issue No 18 Term 3 Week 5 Date 21 August 2020
We make a difference, every child matters every day.
A note from Mrs Swanson - Principal
Revised COVID-19 Updates This week we were asked to further revise some of our preventative practices at school. For us, this meant that we had to put choir and band on hold, as well as limiting interactions between grades when in confined spaces. Additionally, there have been stricter expectations around staff and student illness. In accordance with advice from NSW Health, parents and carers are reminded not to send children to school if they are unwell, even if they have the mildest flu-like symptoms. Schools will make arrangements for students who present as unwell or have flu like symptoms to be sent home, with the expectation that they will be tested for COVID-19. These symptoms include but are not limited to: Fever (37.50 or higher) Cough Sore/scratchy throat Shortness of breath Loss of smell/taste Nausea / Vomiting Fatigue Runny nose Joint Pain Headache Diarrhoea Notifications of absences must include a reason i.e. symptoms. Notifications via Dojo or class teachers will not be accepted, they must come through the school office. Skoolbag, email, phone and written notes are all acceptable forms of communication.

School Photos
It was lovely to see all ABPS students and staff
ready for school photos yesterday. These
photos should be returned to us and sent home
early next term.
Lost Property
Our lost property pile has grown significantly
over the past few weeks. Items that had an
identifiable name on them have been returned.
We also ask you to check any jumpers or
jackets that you may have at home to see if
they belong to you. If you have an item that
doesn't belong to you, could you please return
to school so that we can pass them onto their
owner.
Debating Team - Virtual Debate
On Thursday, we had our 2nd debate against
Grahamstown Public School. Our topic was
"That children should stay home 1 day per
week and be taught by parents." The debate
was well argued by both sides, however
Grahamstown came out on top. Our 1st speaker
was Josh B, our 2nd speaker was Emily G, our
3rd was Phoenix A, and the 4th was Mitchell L
(the time-keeper was Jasper P).
