Neville Wallace from Amaroo House went to see his beloved team The Newcastle Knights play a trial game against St George Illawarra at the Maitland sportsground at the weekend. Support Worker, Michael Prosser was his companion for the day.Unfortunately, the Knights got thumped and lost 38-12 :(Neville & Michael were glad it was only a trial!

Mark Willis has been with Valley Industries for over 30 years!He started in the factory in 1986 and was responsible for painting surveyor pegs “I was very nervous when I first started, but everyone was very helpful and I soon got used to it”Mark then moved to another part of the Timber team and built pallets and tomato stakes. He was very helpful in the factory and stacked the timber to keep it neat and in place. One of his other jobs was to put the studs on to dog collars!Mark is now the face that often greets you as you visit Valley Vintage. Mark likes to be the till operator and to greet customers as they arrive.Outside of work, Mark enjoys listening to country music and caring for and playing with his dog, Denzel.Congratulations for your service at Valley Industries for 34 years Mark!

VALLEY PEOPLE

Kim Russell was very excited to start her new job at Valley Café in December last year. Kim attends many of the activities at Valley Skills for Life and thought it would be good to get some experience in one of our business units.“I thought I would give working in the Café a try as my goal was always to work in customer service. I always thought I would make a good Customer Service Attendant for Train Link at Taree Station!”Kim has learnt several new skills already “I can now make smoothies, milk shakes and hot chocolate. I have also learnt how to use the sterilizing machine. And I serve customers which is my favourite part of the job”When Kim isn’t at Valley Skills for Life or the Café, she can be found down on the river as she is a very keen Dragon Boat Racer.Here we see Kim and Alyssa in the kitchen at the Café.
