During the year 2016-17, we are committed to promoting the 7 Ps of: Peace, Passion, Process, Progress, Positivity, People and Promise.

Peace means to strive for peace within oneself as a human being and instilling peace within the people around you.

Passion means to work with energy, focus and committment.

Process means doing things the right way because only that will lead to the fourth P, that is Progress.

Progress is a natural outcome of the right process.

Positivity means to be positive and spread positivity among people around you.

People means making relationships because they are at the core of all that we do.

Promise means to remain committed to all our stakeholders.

So, this year we resolve to uphold these 7Ps in all our activities.

CEO’s messageDearest Warriors and Friends of Wockhardt Foundation,

Best wishes,

Dr. Huz(Dr. Huzaifa Khorakiwala)Trustee and CEO - Wockhardt Foundation

Life, after deathEvery year in India, 5 lac people die waiting for an organ transplant.

To correct this skew in availability and demand, it is critical to raise awareness regarding the relationship between donating organs and saving lives.

Wockhardt Foundation has been a vocal proponent of this cause and intends to keep up the good work by educating and sensitising the public at large regarding organ donation and encouraging them to pledge their organs.

The Organ Daan programme would also focus on breaking down barriers between donors and recipients as well as dispelling myths surrounding organ donation.

Cleaning up our actPropelled by the mission statement of ‘Hoga Clean India’, this initiative aims to recycle every single PET bottle that gets thrown into a wastebasket. The recent years have seen an alarming increase in the levels of untreated waste. In such a backdrop, the demand for recycling solutions like Swachh Bharat recycle machines has increased proportionately. These machines have been designed to dispose of and recover products efficiently and cost-competitively, thereby laying the groundwork for a cleaner society.

Quality primary healthcareThere are more than 25,000 PHCs in India and despite their relentless efforts (under the aegis of the National Rural Healthcare Mission), numerous challenges continue to debilitate their effective functioning and hinder last-mile reach.

Wockhardt Foundation, with its new programme Wockhardt+Health Centres, aims to strengthen the quality of services being provided by PHCs and get them endorsed by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare.

The programme intends to leverage the PPP mode and thereby up the levels of the curative, preventive and promotive healthcare services offered by PHCs. It also aims to improve access and utilisation of services, thereby improve the overall health quotient of rural communities.

Dr. Huz (Dr. Huzaifa Khorakiwala) receives CSR Leadership Award

Wockhardt Foundation’s Samina Khorakiwala named ‘Superwoman 2016’

I n cognisance of his indefatigable efforts towards the betterment of the needy,

Dr. Huz (Huzaifa Khorakiwala) was bestowed with the CSR Leadership Award at the ABP News CSR Leadership Awards 2015.

Wockhardt Foundation, with Dr. Huz (Dr. Huzaifa Khorakiwala), at its helm has executed innumerable projects in the realms of rural healthcare and sanitation and grassroots education. Till date, the Foundation has positively impacted over 59 million people.

The jury and organisers of the ABP News CSR Leadership Awards opined that Dr. Huz (Dr. Huzaifa Khorakiwala), with his dedication,

commitment and active spirit of social responsibility, has kickstarted groundbreaking programmes that

have helped level the playing field for marginalised and disadvantaged communities.

A ‘superwoman’ is someone who can effortlessly juggle the responsibilities of

homemaking, pursuing a career, and giving back to the society at large. Franklin Templeton Investments and MoneyWorks Financial Advisors recognised and felicitated seven such women in Mumbai at a recent event.

Mrs. Samina Khorakiwala, CEO of Khel Khel Mein was conferred the title of ‘Superwoman 2016’ in the presence of the crème de la crème from the realms of business, law, interior design, jewelry design, real estate and media.

She spearheads Khel Khel Mein, an initiative of Wockhardt Foundation, which is engaged in the inculcation of sound human values among

kids recreationally. This initiative has seen a remarkable level of participation in underprivileged communities. Since being founded in 2010, Khel Khel Mein has had

a positive impact on the lives of almost 10,000 children and intends to enhance its reach by around 2,000 children, annually.

Wockhardt Foundation to build a college for indigenous students in Thane

Wockhardt Foundation is starting a college for the indigenous youth of

Parli Ashram in the Thane district of Maharashtra. The foundation stone for the project was laid by Mrs. Nafisa Khorakiwala, Chairperson, Wockhardt Foundation.

Wockhardt Foundation has been engaged with the Parli Ashram School since 2012 and now intends to scale up the extent of its involvement. The Foundation

has previously donated e-learning material to improve the academic performance of the school children. Wockhardt Foundation decided to take up this initiative considering the fact that these students did not have an option to pursue higher education due to a lack of colleges within a 40-kilometre radius.

I n India 3,00,000 children are born with heart defects every year.

Many of them have to yield without a fight for a lack of finances, resources, and awareness. The result: a mere 8,000 to 10,000 corrective surgeries take place annually, highlighting the gulf between demand and accessibility.

In order to correct this skew, Wockhardt Foundation started the Little Hearts programme in January 2015 in association with Wockhardt Hospital (SoBo) to provide financial assistance to underprivileged children in need of cardiac surgeries.

Making India the ‘skill capital’ of the world

W ockhardt Skills Development Institute conducted the final

assessment of its first and second

batch of 60 students in January 2016. These students were trained to fulfill the responsibilities of a general duty assistant as per the tenets laid down under the National Skill Development Council’s Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana.

Wockhardt Skills Development Institute is affiliated with the Healthcare Sector Skill Council and through its 20 certified courses, the Wockhardt Skills Development Institute inculcates students

with the necessary skills to gain employment in the healthcare sector.

At the Wockhardt Skills Development Institute, these students find access to virtual classrooms and state-of-the-art labs and workshops. They are also able to attend seminars to brush up their knowledge. A dedicated placement cell ensures that these students are gainfully employed after completion of their respective courses.

Sounding the death knell for hunger

As elucidated in the FAO’s State of Food Insecurity in the World,

2015 report, around 194.6 million people are undernourished in India. This suggests that higher economic growth has not been fully translated into higher food consumption, let alone better diets

overall. Consequently, Wockhardt Foundation has instituted a ‘One Time Meal’ scheme in Abdimandi village for 29 poor, needy and destitute women under the banner of the Adarsh Gram Yojana programme.

Adding colours to lives

E ach child’s art is unique and follows a universal pattern of development.

Hence we at Khel Khel Mein (KKM)

encourage children from our centre to participate in ‘Indradhanush Event’ (Drawing Competition) held at Kamala Nehru Park organized

by Inner Wheel Club of Bombay Bay View and facilitate the Children to draw and express what they are feeling and thinking.
