Welcome to the Autumn 2011 issue of our NetSupport interactive newsletter. The summer, as always, has been a busy period for all at NetSupport and this newsletter covers just a few of the highlights.

As you will read, but hopefully already know, we have recently released updates to our desktop security solution, NetSupport Protect. Deployed both within education and in corporate environments where desktop protection is required, NetSupport Protect has grown over the last few years to be an important part of our product portfolio. This latest release includes full support for 64 bit systems and, most importantly, extends our Protect and Restore capabilities across all windows platforms, from XP through to Windows 7 desktops.

You would need to have been on a very long trip not to have heard about NetSupport Assist, our classroom solution for Mac and Linux environments. As you would expect, NetSupport Assist is compatible with existing NetSupport School implementations, allowing true cross-platform support. With With Apple’s recent release of its LION OS, NetSupport Assist has been updated to offer full support and, while we were at it, we also extended our language support by including Japanese support in the product.

You’ll see from this quarter’s newsletter that we are investing heavily in making sure NetSupport and its technology is as accessible as possible to our customers and, as part of this, you’ll see us attending more events than ever, ensuring we are always on hand to offer advice on, tips for and previews of all our solutions.

Finally, NetSupport is first and foremost about the people we employ and the customers we work with. I’d like to offer our congratulations to Karen on her new arrival Isaiah, wish Anna all the best for her pending arrival and, equally, welcome David and Tom into our UK family and Kelly, Rachel and Sandra into our US family. We look forward to their contribution at NetSupport for many years to come.

Network Administrators and Tech Coordinators from across America’s school districts have delivered their verdict in the annual Scholastic Administr@tor Best In Tech Awards and, for the fourth year running, NetSupport’s classroom management solution, NetSupport School, has been named a winner.

Scholastic Administr@tor is the leading education technology journal in the US and each year it asks school technology officers to rate the products they use on a day-to day-basis.

NetSupport School Delivers Cutting Edge Classroom Management and Monitoring for Belmont-Redwood Shores School District

Belmont-Redwood Shores, located south of San Francisco, is a K-8 school district serving seven schools: six elementary and one middle. NetSupport Manager Chosen To Support Adobe MAX 2011

The annual Adobe MAX conference brought together designers, developers and business leaders from around the world to learn about and discuss the future shape of digital media.

The conference, held in Los Angeles, enabled delegates to learn skills for working more productively and creating engaging experiences. They get previews of upcoming software and a chance to network with thousands of their peers.

With hundreds of sessions and labs on offer, maximising the availability of the IT infrastructure at an event like this needs a helping hand and, for the second year running, NetSupport Manager was chosen by Adobe to ensure key systems remained operational.

We would like to welcome Tom Cairns and David Turner to the NetSupport family. For many years Karen Krzoska has looked after our UK education customers and if you’ve been wondering where Karen has been for the last few weeks, she recently gave birth to a beautiful baby son, Isaiah. Tom therefore joins Colette Reed on our education team and if you have any questions about our classroom management and monitoring solutions or the rest of our education range, you can email Tom at [email protected].

New NetSupport Assist 1.03 - Mac® and Linux classroom monitoring and instruction software – delivers extended Mac OS and language support

Following the Spring 2011 launch of NetSupport Assist – classroom monitoring and instruction software for Linux and Mac® platforms – we are pleased to announce the immediate availability of version 1.03.

NetSupport Assist responds to the growing use of Mac® and Linux technology within today’s modern learning environments, providing teachers with a powerful combination of monitoring, presentation and collaboration tools that help with the effective delivery of computer-led lessons.

The introduction of Assist saw NetSupport become the first classroom management software vendor to offer compatible solutions across Windows (NetSupport School), Mac® and Linux environments.

This latest update enables the software to further extend its reach into the world’s classrooms and help students engage and learn with ICT by adding compatibility for Mac OS X Lion and adds to the product’s language support with the addition of a fully localised Japanese interface, supplementing the existing support for English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.

The technical landscape within the modern learning environment is continually evolving and, with all our products, we are continually looking to extend the feature set to ensure they remain relevant. In the case of NetSupport Assist, customers can expect further exciting updates in coming months including the addition of File Transfer, a key component in the IT teacher’s toolkit.

Capita Education Helps Schools Deliver Efficient ICT Teaching With NetSupport Technology

Capita, one of NetSupport’s UK partners in education, has had a busy few months implementing classroom management technology into several of its customer sites, highlighting the continuing relevance of this type of software in the modern school. With ICT dominating the landscape, schools and colleges are eager to embrace new technology, particularly those tools that enhance the delivery of computer-led lessons.

ICT teachers at New Charter Academy in Ashton-under-Lyne, Manchester’s St Peter’s RC High, Morpeth School and Plumstead Manor School to name a few, have all started to see the benefits of using NetSupport School to help raise standards within the networked classroom.

DAA Training Centres Adopt NetSupport School

Our German sister company, PCI Software, has helped Deutsche Angestellten Akademie (DAA), a specialist provider of vocational training and employee re-training, roll out the latest version of NetSupport School, version 10.7, across its adult training centres. Computer-based training is available for many of DAA’s courses, so naturally it was keen to implement a classroom management tool in order to monitor and manage the use of equipment.

Cayman Islands Ministry of Education Rolls Out NetSupport School

The ministries of education in Morocco, Bahrain, Ontario and Saudi Arabia have now been joined by the Cayman Islands Ministry of Education, Training and Employment as adopters of NetSupport’s classroom management technology.

Thanks to the efforts of the NetSupport Inc team and the eagerness of the island’s government to enhance academic standards through the use of technology, educators across the Caymans will be using NetSupport School to deliver effective and engaging IT lessons.

One of the most prestigious names in sports car manufacturing, Lotus, has renewed its annual NetSupport Manager maintenance contract. NetSupport Manager has proved the ideal remote access tool, helping Lotus’s central IT team provide an effective and timely support service to its dispersed user com-munity.
