PATRICK’S DAY! DON’T FORGET THE CLOCKS! Daylight Savings Time kicks in during the early morning hours of Sunday, March 8. You’ll be beer served by turning your clocks forward one hour before rering Saturday night. Remember: Spring forward; Fall back! “Yes, you ARE welcome!” One of the great benefits I’ve received from my having attended this church for as many years as I have is that I’ve seen you operate. I’ve watched what you do. I know your modus operandi. It’s a primary reason I wanted to serve as your pastor. Particularly and especially, I’ve watched how you treat people when they first come through the doors. Many years ago, having moved (again) to a new area, Millie and I had been visiting a popular church we had hopefully chosen to be our new church home. Following the benediction on the third or fourth Sunday of our visit, I simply stood still. A long while later—because she is wonderfully patient with me—Millie finally asked, “What are you doing?” I said, “I’m going to stand right here until someone speaks to me!” That’s not a problem in our church. You greet folks. You reach out to them. You show newcomers that they are welcome in our church home. I‘ve even smiled over the quandary caused by our being pseudo-southerners—and therefore huggers—that you sometimes don’t know whether you can extend that warm of a welcome or not. So you make eye contact and extend a warm hand of welcome. It has been scientifically well documented that physical touch is vital to our well being. So I’m grateful that you are deliberate in “touching” folks who come through the door. It sends a message. It’s good for them. It’s good for us. If, by some small chance, you are one of those folks who are not deliberate in reaching out to touch every Sunday morning, start. It’s vital to our life. Jake

HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S

DAY!

DON’T FORGET THE CLOCKS!

Daylight Savings Time kicks in during the early morning hours of Sunday, March 8. You’ll be better served by turning your clocks forward one hour before retiring Saturday night. Remember: Spring forward; Fall back!

“Yes, you ARE welcome!”

One of the great benefits I’ve received from my having attended this church for as many years as I have is that I’ve seen you operate.

A long while later—because she is wonderfully patient with me—Millie finally asked, “What are you doing?” I said, “I’m going to stand right here until someone speaks to me!”

That’s not a problem in our church.

The Youth have been reviewing things that we have learned in our lessons about God and about His character. God IS Love!

We know from 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NLT), that “Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.” The love that God has for each of us is like this – though it’s hard for us to comprehend. We can be grateful that, because of Jesus, nothing can separate us from the love of God.

All Middle school and High school youth are invited to join us as we continue to seek God’s truth! Our Youth Fellowship meets every Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. More information is available by calling Muriel Lamb, 386/299-0221.

Daytona Solisti

Beethovenfest Concert

March 29

Daytona Solisti will expand into a full symphony orchestra, conducted by Susan Pitard Acree, for its Beethovenfest concert celebrating Beethoven’s 250th birthday. The concert will take place on Sunday, March 29, at 3:30 p.m. in the beautiful sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church.

The exciting program will include two of Beethoven’s great masterpieces, his Piano Concerto No. 1 with Michael Rickman as soloist and Symphony No. 1. You can listen to various performances of these great works on YouTube to become familiar with them.

We would love to have you join us for this very special symphony orchestra concert which will fill very corner of the sanctuary with glorious music of this great master composer. This will be Solisti’s largest scale concert of its concert season.

A $15.00 requested donation will be accepted at the door. For additional information see Susie Acree after a church service or visit www.daytonasolisti.com.
