Commercial Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus (CSCUBA) Diver 2. Surface Supplied Diving Equipment (SSDE) Diver 3. Surface Supplied Diving Equipment Supervisor (also named as Inland/Inshore Diving Supervisor) 3. Dive Technician Course - Modular Programme In May, we are pleased to announce that both KBA Training and KB Access have received over 500 delegates attending various training from safety, diving, IRATA rope access and work at height. We are ecstatic of this great achievement and will continue to maintain a high level of quality training and customer service to our clienteles. KBA Group has exhibited in two major trade exhibitions (OS+H Asia 2014 and Safety & Health Expo 2014), where we have seen over 1000 visitors who are keen to attend and learn more about our training courses in the upcoming months so as to upgrade their skills in order to maintain their competencies. These two events have been an excellent opportunity for us to continue to maintain contact with our current clients, reaching out to those who haven't known us as well as network with the industry experts. Dear Jeslyn, In the blink of an eye, we are almost in the third quarter of the year. KBA Group has been bustling as usual with new consultancy contracts awarded in Asia, Australia, Holland, Middle East, South Africa and the UK, in the field of diving specialist personnel and equipment assurance; with this, we have recruited six new staff to join KBA Team, and will be introducing to you in this news update. KBAT has launched four New Diving Training courses over the past three months to meet the local and global needs of the diving industry: 1. 3. KBA Europe: Sponsoring 'Coastal Commando Cycle Challenge' - a HOWRM event 2014 marks the 350th Anniversary of the Royal Marines, in order to commemorate this milestone - The Coastal Commando Cycle Challenge will be a 350 mile, 5-day cycle challenge starting in Chatham

as well as in Arbroath and ending at Lympstone. KBA Europe hopes that our small contribution aids the 'Help Our Wounded Royal Marines and Supporting Arms For Life 1150893' (HOWRM) to continue providing help and support those who need it most. Check out the cycle challenge here.

KBA Europe > IMCA Annual Seminar 2014 Date : 19 - 20 Nov 2014 Venue : The Landmark Hotel, London UK KBA exhibited the 18th Annual Seminar hosted by IMCA at the Shangri-La Hotel Singapore in November last year. With the theme 'Addressing the Challenges of New Frontiers' with fantastic programme featuring keynote addresses, presentations, workshops and discussions with a record attendance of almost 500 delegates. a. The 9th Occupational Safety + Health Exhibition for Asia (OS+H Asia 2014) ~ Singapore, 7 - 9 May 2014 KBA Training Centre exhibited OS+H Asia 2014 on the 7 - 9 May 2014 at Suntec City Singapore where we saw many safety professionals who expressed interest in self-upgrading their skills which has proven critical in their job nature. During the 3-day exhibition, we have launched and announced our upcoming Commercial Diver Training - Level 1 to Level 4, and were glad that in the Welcome Speech by Mr. Heng Chiang Gnee (Chairman of Singapore WSH Conference 2014 Steering Committee) in the

WSH conference, he has stressed the importance of safety in the commercial diving industry which is often neglected.

This year, we have introduced a new Game 'KBAT Wheel of Safety' and received over-whelming responses. Congratulations to our 3 lucky winners (Luah Si Min, Jeffery Yeo and Roy Chiam) who won themselves each a S$100 shopping voucher.

Overall, the OS+H Asia 2014 has once again succeeded as one of Asia's leading exhibition for the workplace safety and health sectors. 5,800 visitors were captivated with the wide range of excellent display, product demonstrations, high-quality products and innovative technology and safety equipment to move the workplace and health sector. If you have missed this year, don't forget to pen down the next run on 31 August - 2 September 2016.

b. Safety & Health Expo 2014 ~ ExCel London, 17 - 19 June 2014 KB Associates (Europe) exhibited Safety & Health Expo 2014 on the 17 - 19 June 2014 at ExCel London, UK. This is the first exhibition when we were all geared up to meet the safety professionals from all over the world. The Expo was well attended with over 10,000 visitors from Nigeria, Kenya, UK, Kazakhstan, Italy, Greece among many. It was great to meet up with old friends and many new ones. iv) IOSH Accident Investigation ~ 14 - 15 April 2014 in Brunei and 16 - 17 June in Singapore

A group photo was taken after the delegates completed their workgroup investigation on the IOSH Accident Investigation course in Brunei. Investigation is an essential skill for all

a) Announcements

i) Factory Acceptance Testing of New Diving Control In May, Darren made a visit to Unique Hydra UAE to conduct a factory acceptance testing of the new diving system dive control and Deck Decompression Chamber (DDC); these are purchased so as to deliver the commercial diver training in

b) New Training Course

ii) Commercial Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus (CSCUBA) Diver ~ New Training (Pending accreditation from MOM Singapore)

This competency standard outlines the minimum requirements that must be achieved to ensure that occupational divers are trained / certified as competent commercial divers. This competency standard details the level of knowledge, theory requirements and practical application of the diving techniques needed by divers while using Commercial SCUBA (CSCUBA) to a maximum depth of 30m (99fsw) with no decompression diving. iii) SSDE or Inland/Inshore Diving Supervisor ~ New Training (Pending Accreditation from MOM Singapore)

This competency standard outlines the minimum requirements for commercial diving supervisors to work safely and competently, and to be trained/certified as a SSDE Diving Supervisor. It is intended to provide understanding, describes the theory requirements, practical application of diving knowledge, techniques required to supervise dives while using SSDE to a maximum depth of 30msw (metres of sea water).

iv) Dive Technician Course - Modular Programme

A modular programme that will develop the all-round competence of the dive technician in support of the diving system maintenance and equipment. It covers the 'soft skill' knowledge and understanding specifically with respect to IMCA 'Dive Technician Competence and Training IMCA D001 Rev. 2 ' as well as documentation for ongoing and management of change process. The training goes on to develop

'hard skills' practical training including working at height, oxygen clean systems, high pressure regulator service, cylinder inspections, KMB DSI Helmet technician training and more. Module One: S$2,200 | Module Two: S$2,400 | Module Three: S$2,200 Course Fee: S$6,800 (Special Rate: S$6,300*) * Special Rate is only applicable for delegate who has registered all three modules and completed the course consecutively in 3 weeks. * Course Fee subject to 7% GST

i) IMCA Trainee Air Diving Supervisor ~ 25 - 29 Mar 2014 in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore KBA Training held the IMCA Trainee Air Diving Supervisor training in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In this training, we are glad to have the first qualified Sudanese IMCA Divers - Mo and Khalid who have completed their Trainee ADS and their next goal is to complete IMCA Diver Medic Technician. We look forward to receiving them and wish them all the best in their diving career.

ii) IMCA Trainee Bell Diving Supervisor ~ 30 Mar - 2 Apr 2014 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia KBA Training held the IMCA Trainee Bell Diving Supervisor training in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Brian Brockwell, our newly recruited IMCA trainer for courses in Aberdeen - UK also attended this course as co-trainer to Alan Rhodes. This initiative is deemed as essential to ensure the continuous uphold of quality training regardless where the course will be held. The next training is scheduled in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 30 Aug - 2 Sept; Singapore on 11 - 14 Aug; Aberdeen-UK on 20 - 23 Oct 2014.

iii) IMCA Trainee AIR & BELL Diving Supervisor ~ Combined 9 - 19 June in Lake Charles USA and ADS on 17 - 21 June and BDS 22 - 25 June at Apollo Hospital, New Delhi India

KBA Training held the IMCA Trainee Air and Bell Diving Supervisor training at both Lake Charles, USA and Apollo Hospital in New Delhi, India. We saw a good record of attendees in both locations. In New Delhi, the final revision and exam was held in the large auditorium, which is a clean venue, with good air-con ventilation

and sound system.

With the over whelming response and positive feedbacks, the next training in New Delhi is scheduled for ADS on 14 - 18 Oct and BDS on 19 - 22 Oct 2014.

iv) OGP Client Worksite Representative Course ~ 12 - 16 May in Aberdeen, UK and 2 - 6 June in Lake Charles, USA

vi) Client Diving Safety Awareness ~ 7 - 11 Apr 2014 in Jakarta, Indonesia for Pertamina In April, Alan Rhodes flew to Jakarta to conduct an in-company workshop - Client Diving Safety Awareness specially for PERTAMINA.

We saw a total of 18 delegates and overall there has been fantastic interactivity

vii) Failure Mode & Effect Analysis ~ 20 - 21 June 2014 in Aberdeen, UK KBA Europe have successfully completed another FMEA/FMECA awareness course at our facility in Aberdeen with students from South Africa, Holland, UK and Bulgaria who were industry experienced personnel from both the technical and procedural side of the diving and marine industry. The class was very interactive and a pleasure to hold. Going through the lesson plans, students were tasked to produce a mini FMECA on an item at three stages of the process. Increasing class participation in this way forces the knowledge held by those attendees into the open in much the same way as would happen on an actual project.

The class is aimed not only at those wishing to be part of an FMECA team but also at those whose job role entails understanding what is expected, what is gained and how to best use the process. KBA Europe thank the participants for their enthusiasm and commitment to the process.

KBA NoticeBoard 1. Welcome New Staff on Board Carlos Kennerley Operations Support Carlos was previously in the Royal Marine Commando's (UK) for six years until moving into Commercial Diving in 1991. He has worked extensively as an Air/Saturation Diver and Diving Supervisor mainly in SE Asia in the Construction and Inspection & Maintenance fields. In 2000 he took up the position of Project and Yard manager for a Singapore based Diving Company. Carlos has obtained the IMCA Part 1 & 2 - Air and Saturation qualification and PERTAMINA (PHE) Area Authority and Risk assessment training.

He then moved into the IT industry as a Corporate Email, Network & Security consultant spending 3 years with a BP Joint Venture in Algeria and Dubai. He has a Diploma in Computing and is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MSCE) with a Cisco CCNA Computer Networks Certificate. In 2009 he returned to the Diving industry as an OCM and Oil Company Diving Representative for the national oil company of Indonesia, Pertamina Hulu Engeri.

Nurul Sumaiyah Mazlan Accounts Assistant Nurul obtained her Honour degree in Psychology from the International Islamic University Malaysia. She has been teaching children ever since she was an undergraduate. She has worked as a Personal Assistant to Director of a training organization after graduation and has been in the education/ training field for 5 years before pursuing her career in accounts. She is now using her audit experience to handle the full set of accounts for KB Access Pte Ltd - A

subsidiary of KB Associates which provides industrial training.

Tanuja Barik Trainee Administrative (Accounts Assistant) Tanuja joins the KBA in Accounts Department supporting KB Associates for issuing of Cheques, Invoices & Contractor Salary. She finished her MBA with specialisation in Hospital Administration from Institute of Health Management & Research, Jaipur, INDIA. As part of curriculum having a carried out her internship in a large hospital administration department. Having worked for the World Health Organization (WHO) Geneva, as an intern promoting Patient safety guideline book in various Universities Tanuja joins us with a wealth of administration and accounting experience.

Hafiz Sulaimi Dive Technician Hafiz was previously in the aviation MRO industry for 8.5 years. He has attended the Air Transport Training College and obtained an Aviation Technician in Engine Overhaul certification. Hafiz worked as an Advanced Technician handling the Trent series engines in a Rolls Royce joint venture company. He has also attained his National Trade Certificate in Mechatronics and several general WSQ as well as tools and machine handling competencies. He will be providing support to KBA Training - Diving team as a Dive Technician.

Brian Brockwell Consultant Brian started his career in the Offshore Diving Industry after leaving the armed forces and has now been in the business for over 35 years holding many different positions worldwide. This includes saturation supervisor / superintendent, operations manager and general manager for a number of major diving contractors.

Keith Rhodes Associate Trainer (NEBOSH, IOSH, CIEH) Keith joins KBAT with 37 years' experience in Environmental and Occupational Safety & Health. He is a fully qualified and experienced UK Environmental Health Officer specialising in Occupational Safety & Health across a wide range of environments. Starting his career as a member of Fleet Health & Safety Inspection Team (British Royal Navy) he has worked as an Enforcement Officer and is the Ex-Head of Health & Safety and Industrial First Aid Faculty at a leading UK educational establishment in addition to being a tutor at a well-known UK University and Radiation specialist.

Having achieved his Graduate Diploma in Environmental Health, Higher Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health, Masters Degree in Business Administration [Distinction in Strategic Management] and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management Studies, Keith has became an independent Health & Safety Consultant working in a wide variety of environments including training and examinations for NEBOSH and IOSH. Keith is also a BSI - Lead Assessor ISO9001 and an Assessor for European Quality Award [EFQM].

Mark Anderson International Approvals Auditor at OPITO International Why did you choose KBA Training Centre? I was hunting around trying to decide who was giving the best bang for buck and I wanted to stretch myself mentally by doing some personal development which was relevant to my work. KBA seemed to be offering a professional course which was cheaper than some of the competitors out there. Describe your training experience while you were at KBAT. It was workmanlike with an emphasis on self directed study and self application. I always felt that I could ask a question. The resources were entirely adequate for the task of a short and intense course of study. The tutor they had decided to utilise was a font of unbridled knowledge. How did you find the support from your tutor team? The tutor team did their best to allay any pre exam worries and definitely kept us focused on absorbing as much of the course syllabus as we could in order to pass the exam.

How has this training helped, prepared or benefited you in your career? It gave me a delicious insight into another side of the Oil and Gas Industry and I feel that it demonstrates to future employers that you are focused, pro active and capable of absorbing and making sense of fresh technical information. What is your daily job scope? Presently I am auditing the training standards for the upstream Oil and Gas Industry throughout the Middle east, Russia, India and Africa. What is your advice to those aiming for a career in health and safety? Be dogged and persevere. Challenge yourself first and foremost. You never stop learning and to have any kind of advantage in what is a difficult economic climate for most, you have to actively demonstrate a willingness to life long self development. Looking ahead, is there any other training course you would consider to take on with KBAT? I`m just away to commit to doing my I.S.O Lead Auditor ticket but really want to at some stage soon pursue the NEBOSH Diploma in Health and Safety.

Describe your training experience while you were at KBAT. The training was very well conducted. The trainer (Ms. Nurul) was extremely good with the job entrusted to her. How did you find the support from your tutor team? The support extended by the tutor is really recommendable. She had the time and patience to answer all our questions. How has this training helped, prepared or benefited you in your career? It has helped me to know certain rules, regulations and requirements which we normally practiced but didn't know exactly as to why the same was being done.
