MESSAGE FROM THE EDITOR

Dear Key Clubbers, A reminder that you need to pay your dues before signing up for events ($16 for returning and new members). The blood drive is still going on; be sure to sign up for it before the 30th! COUNTDOWN TO HALLOWEEN: 2 DAYS!! What will you be doing that day? Maybe Trick-or-Treating for UNICEF? Help raise some money this Halloween for children in need—the one who raises the most will get a $5 Starbucks giftcard, a lanyard, bragging rights, and the satisfaction of helping our your fellow man! As always, hope to see y’all at the meetings!

This year Key Club and BSU are teaming up to help out the

blood drive! Are you skeptical about donating blood? Scared

because it’s your first time? Here are some facts to keep in mind when deciding to donate:

Blood DRIVE

The actual donation takes

about 5-15 minutes; the rest of

the time is for hydrating yourself

(plus, free snacks!)

900 people DAILY require blood

in Western Washington alone

Every pint donated can help

save up to 3 lives!!

Additional requirements:

o Must be 114lbs (male) or

125lbs (female) if under

the age of 18 (minimum

age to donate is 16)

o Must EAT a hearty meal &

DRINK plenty of fluids

24~48 hours prior to

donating

Donate on October 30th in the gym. Ask officers of Key Club or BSU for the forms!

Dia de los Muertos November 1st (Saturday) Location: Phinney Center (6523 Phinney Ave N Seattle,WA 98103) Time: Varies depending on shift Leader: Reanne Wong

Description: Dia de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday honoring the dead with food, drink, parties, and activities. It is a time to commemorate the dead and celebrate their lives with family and friends. The celebration at PNA attracts 600 people, so we need a lot of volunteers! Try your hand as a Paper Florist or Icing Chef, or help out with the less adventurous, but just as important, standards like event set-up. More Events! Community Roots: Habitat

Restoration and Service

Project November 8th (Saturday) Location: Seward Park Time: 10 A.M. - 2 P.M. Leader: Carmen Phu (206) 370-4027

Description: Build great habitat for birds and humans to restore health to one of the oldest forests in Seattle! Tools, gloves, training, snacks and coffee provided.

Bunka no Hi Set Up November 15th (Saturday) Location: 1414 S. Weller Street, Seattle, WA 98144 Time: 12:00pm – 5:00pm Leader: TBD

Description: Bunka no Hi celebrates Japanese and Japanese American heritage and culture with performances, children’s activities and workshops. Help set up before the actual event the next day. Help with the set-up of tables and rooms, general clean-up, stage and audio set-up

Description: Bunka no Hi celebrates Japanese and Japanese American heritage and culture with performances, children’s activities and workshops Tasks: Greeters - 4 volunteers per shift, Activity Monitors – 15 volunteers per shift, Stage Assistants – 3 volunteers per shift, Volunteer/Performer Green Room monitor – 2 volunteers per shift. Shift 1: 10:00am – 2:00pm Shift 2: 2:00pm – 5:00pm Shift 3: 4:30pm – 6:00pm

What is it?

Fundraising to save children in need; thousands of

children under the age of five die every day because

they lack proper nutrition, safe drinking water,

affordable vaccines, and other basic necessities.
