Tolerance Resilience Respect Endeavour Responsibility

Thanks to a great decision to postpone Friday’s Faction Carnival by Mrs Sheedy we enjoyed a perfect carnival in the sunshine on Monday.

The carnival was, as usual, a terrific blend of competition, sportsmanship and fun. Thanks again to all staff, Mrs Sheedy in particular, for the massive amount of work that goes into making these days so successful. Mrs Sheedy will now prepare our school team for the interschool carnival on Tuesday 12 November with jumps and throws at Bunbury Primary School. On Friday 15 November, all other events will be at the Hay Park Athletics track.

Bunbury City Council invited us to host the visiting Japanese students from Setagaya on Wednesday 6 November. Both our junior and senior choir and our school band performed at a

short welcome assembly and the Japanese students performed a traditional Japanese dance. With our growing Japanese program, these cultural exchanges are a great way to enhance our students understanding of Japan.

With our Year 6 classes away on an excursion to Perth on Friday, we have enlisted some special guests to host this week’s assembly!!

Please ensure your child has their hat at school each day as our current PBS Target Behaviour is wearing hats whenever we are outside. Thank you.

EXTENSION: Every Friday, Katie has to give half of her marble collection to her little brother. What day will she get her 11th marble now? What about her 30th?

If you are aware that your child/ren will not be attending Adam Road Primary School in 2020 can you please advise the office as soon as possible.

HERE’S A NEW ONE:Katie was given a marble on Tuesday. Then she was given two marbles every day for a long time. When did she get her 11th marble?

RecyclingThis plant pot was made from recycled plastic bottle lids. It was skilfully crafted by the wonderful people at Precious Plastics Margaret River. It took 750 bottle lids to make this. What a wonderful way to get them out of landfill! So please keep collecting and drop them off to the school.

Bunbury Regional Art Gallery

Did you know our beautiful Japanese Scrolls that the Year 3 & Year 4 Japanese classes made for the South West Festival of Japan were admired so much that the Bunbury Regional Art Gallery had them on display for over 2 months? Many visitors to the Art Gallery commented on how wonderful they looked.

Thank you to the City of Bunbury for displaying our work, and thank you to all the Adam Road students and their families who came to my origami workshop on the day to make a paper crane.Setagaya Primary School Student Visit

Today a group of primary school Japanese students from Bunbury’s Japanese sister city, Setagaya, will be visiting Adam Road Primary School. They will be here from 10.15am so come

along and have a look at the fantastic performance they have planned.

Japanese Sport & Seasons Topic

This term the Year 4 Japanese classes will be learning to ask and say what sports they like. They will also be researching various Japanese martial arts.

The Year 3 Japanese classes will be learning to ask and say what seasons they like. They will also be researching various seasonal activities and festivals that take place in Japan.

All students will be continuing to learn to read and write the Japanese script, Hiragana.

Japanese Items

One of our Year 4 students brought in a special origami book from home this week. The book was printed in England in 1974 and even had the price in British Pounds on the inside front cover. We discovered that many of the origami patterns explained in the book are quite difficult. Thank you Matilda for sharing the book with us.

Japanese Classroom

Did you know the Japanese room is open every Thursday lunchtime for students to come and play a Japanese game, do a Japanese puzzle, try some origami, draw a Japanese manga or read a Japanese book or magazine. All students are welcome, not just those who are studying Japanese!

OSHClub News Before School / After School Care Program

Attention Adam Road Families! Help us spread the word about OSHClub!

Things got spooky at OSHClub this week with Halloween and Day of the Dead. We learnt some interesting facts about Day of the Dead and made our own sugar skull masks. We had a Halloween party in the afternoon and children braved the bucket of GOBLIN GUTS to get a prize! Some of our favourite things to do this week have been dressing up as all kinds of Halloween creatures and playing in our new Medieval castle area!

A little about us:

• We are an outside school hours care service; we look after your children right here at Adam Road Primary School both before and after school.

• Children can choose to build, read, imagine, create or play with any of the awesome resources in our room and we also go outside to the playground for games or picnics.

• We provide healthy quality food for breakfast and afternoon snacks. • It’s completely FREE to make an enrolment, just go to www.oshclub.com.au and register. • We cater for Kindy through to Year 6 with fun stuff for EVERY age. • Don’t have access to a computer? You can use ours. • Our FULL fee WITHOUT CCS is $23.00 before school and $32.90 after school but you can

get up to 85% government subsidy via CCS. For more details, call Centrelink Family Line 13 61 50 or use the Government Estimator Website.
