Production and Marketing Performance of Sarvodaya Sangh Products with Special Reference to Tirunelveli District

Introduction“Khadi is the sun of the village solar system.

The planets are the various industrieswhich can support khadi in return for the

heat and the sustenance they derive from it,Without it other industries cannot grow”

Mahatma Gandhi.

The role of Khadi and village industries cannot be under estimated. Though the number of these industries has increased remarkably, some of the objectives, set for the village and small industries sector have get to fully achieved. A number of promotional measure designed to develop this section have not produced desired result. The earning levels of large number of people employed in this sector are very low. Unless productivity in this sector increased there cannot be significant improvement in the earning of the individuals.Sarvodayasangham’s product influenced the consumers of different categories of people in the society. The marketing and selling performance of sarvodaya was good over during last ten years. Therefore, the researcher makes an attempt to study the production and marketing performance of sarvodayaSangh products for these periods.The study area selected by the scholar is Tirunelveli city of south Tamil Nadu.

Objectives Of The StudyTo study the selling and marketing performance • ofSarvodayaSangh of Tirunelveli District.To evaluate the performance of Sarvodaya Products for last • ten years.

It could be inferred from the above table that the total Sales of SarvodayaSangh during the last ten years performance good over the years and the year in which 2011-2012 shows high volume of sales (Rs.131.20 lakhs). This could be noted from the following diagram.

SuggestionsThe researcher offered the following suggestions to improve the

sarvodayasangh in Tirunelveli. They are, It is suggested that new designs and patterns may be introduced • to attract more consumers in different field.The artisans should be given proper training about the new • technologies to increase their efficiencies in order to increase the sales volume.The village industries products do not provide any discount • in price, especially, agmark honey and wood and steel furniture.To increase the sales performance, it is recommended to open • more sales outlets in rural areas and give more advertisements during festival and give more rebates during these seasons.The sanghs are highly dependent on the outsider’s funds. • Hence it is suggested that steps are to be taken to generate internal funds.The sanghs have internal administrational problems. The • government has to take remedial steps to solve these problems promptly.To increase the production performance, the sanghs have to • introduce incentives to boost up the production besides the wages to the artisans.The government employees may be compelled to purchase • the sarvodaya products and the village industries products.Credit facilities may be extended to private employees • also.The credit card facilities may also be encouraged to increase • the volume of sales.In the modern world, there is a problem of global competition. • To face these problems, the SarvodayaSanghs may improve the quality of their products to attract more foreign consumers.To attract more consumers, the SarvodayaSangh should • change their packing system and in order to attract new consumers.

ConclusionTirunelvelisarvodayasangh is very familiar for the sales of genuine original product sale. The Marathandam Honey, Srivelliputhur Soap, DindukalKhadargrammam shampoos, Tirunelvelisangh readymade produc’s in great demand in India as well as in foreign countries. Tirunelvelisarvodayasangh’s contribution is remarkable for the development rural industries.Tirunelvelisarovodayasangh grow under the principle of Gandhiji. It integrated the village industries and working for the welfare of the rural population and supply quality products to the consumers. Awareness among the people for the usage of khadi products should be improved through various media like advertisement, F.M Radios and TV Media etc.
